Would we go as far as calling it a "Zack Attack?"
August 29th, 2018 at 2:26 PM ^
Guessing he had a meeting with his lawyer today and learned that he didn't have a case in his defamation lawsuit.
August 29th, 2018 at 2:27 PM ^
Who?
August 29th, 2018 at 2:28 PM ^
I don't say this lightly -- nor often -- but I really hope this person's children get taken away. Geez.

This guy just won the internet.
August 29th, 2018 at 2:35 PM ^
He is off the rails. Better stop cutting the meds in half Zach!!

Dude’s a sociopath.

Reminds me of Dogma:
My god, I've heard a rant like this before
What?
I've heard a rant like this before. You sound like the Morning Star.
Don't you fucking -
You do! You sound like Lucifer man, you've fucking lost it!
August 29th, 2018 at 2:37 PM ^
If ANYTHING came of this mess, it was that comment. Holy shit.
August 29th, 2018 at 2:37 PM ^
No. Close 2nd to this guy
August 29th, 2018 at 2:42 PM ^
As an aside, the real Gregg Williams had a great practice yell-exchange with Browns OC Todd Haley on Hard Knocks. During practice, the Browns QB gets knocked on his ass by a defensive player.
Haley goes nuts: "IS THAT HOW WE'RE DOING IT NOW?! HITTING MY QB??!!"
Williams: "YOU DON'T WANT HIM HIT? THEN BLOCK FOR HIM!!!!"
August 29th, 2018 at 2:37 PM ^
I just don’t see how someone doesn’t press that issue. The secretary got moved because of him. How does an investigation not get automatically triggered. Forget NCAA...isn’t this a legal issue?
August 29th, 2018 at 2:40 PM ^
Maybe I'm having recency bias, but go-lly it seems like absolutely no one takes responsibility for anything anymore. Even more so, it seems like guys like Zach Smith will lash out, refuse to accept any responsibility, call everything fake news, and then live out the rest of their days in an alternate reality.
People just act like you can make whatever you want the truth if they yell loud enough and type hard enough

This begs a comment that I really want to provide. But I will respectfully withhold so as not to start a firestorm that inevitably results in a locked thread... Dude, this thread is too fun to get locked!!
August 29th, 2018 at 3:25 PM ^
Nice to know the wife he beat up wasn't LEGITIMATELY hurt by this!
August 29th, 2018 at 2:35 PM ^
Holy meltdowns, Batman. This dude is seriously unhinged! He is on an epic rant and just not backing down!
I am sitting here with a big bag of (metaphorical) popcorn just hoping that he turns his ire on Urban. He is clearly suffering some form of delusion, paranoia, etc. Someone with a twitter account (I am old) really needs to lead this guy in the right direction by responding to these tweets with comments along the lines of "Dude, don't you realize that Urban thinks you are a joke - he already threw you under the bus and he has been trashing you internally for weeks now. Only a fool would let him scapegoat them like that!".
August 29th, 2018 at 2:39 PM ^
So this is an interesting point.
Brett McMurphy seems to be holding his breath waiting for Zach Smith to take Urban Meyer down with him, per one of McMurphy's conversations with Courtney Smith.
And there have been at least a couple of threads here, semi-devoted to the notion that Zach Smith is turning on Urban Meyer.
And yet time after time, Zach Smith restates his personal support for, and understanding of, Coach Meyer.
August 29th, 2018 at 2:47 PM ^
Yeah, I don't think he's turning on Urban or Ohio State.
August 29th, 2018 at 2:48 PM ^
No chance smith turns on Meyer, not while he's coach. And I doubt on urbs way out too.
August 29th, 2018 at 3:26 PM ^
Why would Zack turn on Urban or OSU? Where else can he go? What other job can he have other than if he is also a victim of the media and the forces out to get OSU?
August 29th, 2018 at 4:11 PM ^
He's already starting to turn on OSU. Just wait for it. He's not going to be happy if Urban makes any more statements that are negative towards him in any way.
August 29th, 2018 at 5:21 PM ^
Exactly! He’s a football coach will never coach again and doesn’t know how to do anything else. He has no financial discipline and likely has money problems right now. He will flip on Urban as soon as he gets a sweet book deal, and then look out!
August 29th, 2018 at 7:42 PM ^
Any MGoPublishers out there...chance to make bank bro.
Section 1.8 is a lawyer, I'm sure he could draw up the contract.
August 29th, 2018 at 9:34 PM ^
Are you is banker?
August 30th, 2018 at 1:15 PM ^
Nope, but I can read. And the report that the independent investigation issued showed that Zach regularly had credit cards declined and bills that went unpaid for months.
If he had those issues while he had a job and a $300k salary, then I don't think it's a stretch to believe that he has money problems right now with no job, no prospects, and crappy spending habits.
August 29th, 2018 at 6:28 PM ^
You continue to prove yourself so skeptical that you are totally ignorant of what could be happening around you.
Most informants don't turn, they provide information by mistake. For instance:
Urban Meyer: I only knew Zach professionally.
Lynn Bruce: The truth is Urban knew "Zach Smith since he was 2 years old. I considered his family a part of mine. We had a relationship that extended beyond the X’s & O’s. And I saw a young man with incredible talent, both on the field coaching and in recruiting, struggling."
Zach Smith is doing all his damage by accident because he acts on emotional rage and not intellect.
Edit: Addition... "There was even Zach cryptically suggesting there was something interesting to ask Tom Herman “about the ensuing few days” after both Zach Smith and Herman visited a strip club in Miami in 2014. The two worked together then." I might keep holding my breath as well.
August 29th, 2018 at 7:05 PM ^
no reason to turn on him. $350k per year and he didn't have to do anything except get blowjobs and ball lifters in the football building.
August 29th, 2018 at 2:45 PM ^
Someone needs to take him out to a bar or strip club, get some drinks in him, and "let him vent" while recording the conversation.
August 29th, 2018 at 4:43 PM ^
I feel we aren't that far away from a "Who ordered that code red?" moment.
August 29th, 2018 at 2:36 PM ^
Lynn Bruce, Earle's daughter seems to not be thrilled with Urban's response either.

Zach is 10 Tweets in..blaming the media for how it has affected his children mostly
August 29th, 2018 at 4:28 PM ^
I read part of that Facebook post. All I can say is holy shit.
One of the respondents blames McMurphy for being out to ruin lives and that this is all his fault. Talk about head in the sand. How about this is all Zack Smith fault and urban's for protecting him for all these years so there were never any consequences to his actions until an avalanche of disaster falls on this shit bucket.
August 29th, 2018 at 2:36 PM ^
Wooo using his children as a twitter shield... Yep, father of the year right here.
August 29th, 2018 at 2:38 PM ^
LMAO!!! This guy is a nut case!!! I really hope OSU goes down in a ball of flames over this whole bag of dicks, but I know they won't. I fully understand that Delaney loves him some Buckeye dick, and Emmert loves him some Delaney. I mean, they've both already said OSU did a good thing, so we can expect nothing more from this aside from a few talking heads talking indignantly for a couple of hours.
What an incompetent bunch of douches...
August 29th, 2018 at 3:03 PM ^
"this whole bag of dicks..."
Pretty sure they have built up immunity.
August 29th, 2018 at 3:34 PM ^
"this whole bag of dicks" I'm pretty sure that he took the bag of dicks he ordered off Adam and Eve with him since he paid for them...
August 29th, 2018 at 2:39 PM ^
Hypothetically speaking... what exactly happens if after the court case comes to light, and Zach Smith is absolved?
That it turns out both Zach and Courtney Smith are batshit crazy, but Zach didn’t beat his wife. That this really was just a wild goose chase started by his ex-wife out of vengeance.
August 29th, 2018 at 2:43 PM ^
Uh, right now Zach Smith is not even accused of hitting, harming, touching, intimidating or otherwise assaulting his ex-wife. At least not by any authorities. Courtney Smith made those claims in support of an application for a personal protection order.
No; right now, Zach Smith is charged with misdemeanor criminal trespass, in connection with his dropping of his son at the home of his ex-wife, in compliance with his divorce decree and custody order.
August 29th, 2018 at 2:59 PM ^
Then he should sue OSU for wrongful termination for starters...or they should hire him back. Too many people have admitted to knowing about it though, mainly Urban Meyer. Him being charged with it ultimately is irrelevant. He'll never coach again either way.
Unless Courtney herself comes out and says it didn't happen, it really doesn't matter because no one will believe otherwise.
August 29th, 2018 at 3:19 PM ^
this, this, this and 1000 times this. why are we conflating legal issues with employee standards. If I started drinking at 7am and went to work, it doesn't matter if I drove or took an uber, I am probably getting fired despite potentially not doing anything illegal.
the issue isn't (or at least shouldn't be) did he break the law? It's did he break the employee code of conduct and if so did osu cover it up, or ignore it for personal reasons? Then on top of that did urban abuse his power as coach to have influence of others on the university to protect him and ultimately lie, all of which is against the employee code of conduct as well.
August 29th, 2018 at 4:01 PM ^
So if it is strictly an internal employment matter of poor performance*, how did it become this national #MeToo teaching-moment cause celebre? OSU football can hire and fire who they want to, and it's not a terribly big deal to me. Nothing that would make me feel as though I had the right to demand his termination.**
I think you want Urban Meyer fired, for somehow leading to some kind of endangerment of Courtney Smith.
*And you sure as hell won't get me to argue that Zach Smith was a superior performer.
**And I have posted a number of times, that Meyer's handling of his phone is a very, very big question in my mind and I hope much more is written about by people who know what they are talking about.
August 29th, 2018 at 4:15 PM ^
i never said poor performance, i said breaking employee code of conduct; big difference. I don't want urban fired for what happened to courtney, i want him fired for putting people at risk within his organization because he turned a blind eye (or was ignorant) to someone who clearly has his issues and is probably a terrible person to be around if you are a subordinate or of the opposite gender
he should have been fired for the relationship with the secretary, he should have been fired for the selfies that took place during his capacity while on the job (either at the university or on team trips to the white house). He probably should have been fired when the restraining order was filed and approved. Or at least given a written warning that he should probably keep himself out of any whiff of trouble as it's against the high moral (ha) standards the university (doesn't) adhere to
he had a boss either ignore or cover those issues up and then lie about it.
August 29th, 2018 at 4:19 PM ^
and how this became part of any national movement is different. the public labeling him of a domestic abuser is probably unfair until he is proven guilty; however that doesn't mean he shouldn't be in the metoo movement due the happenings with his secretary, who knows how willful that was or wasn't; but the view of people in a protected position of power clearly has a view attached to it, rightly so.
August 29th, 2018 at 5:49 PM ^
Probably because you can do bad things and illegal things, like beat your wife, without being criminally convicted or even charged with doing them. And other people can still be morally responsible for what they do help or hurt the people that you are doing.
And please, please, stop with the lawyer talk. I'm an attorney too. You make it sound like attorneys are all consumed by our "enlightened" understanding of the legal system and the role of criminal convictions. We aren't. Look at Smith's DUI that got plead down. We all know that he was driving the fucking car while he was drunk, not just sitting in the driver's seat. But he made a deal and that's what he was "convicted" of. Nonetheless, anyone sane is absolutely correct to think that he was a drunk driver.
August 30th, 2018 at 8:54 AM ^
"Pled."
Like James Joseph Harbaugh?
August 30th, 2018 at 11:19 AM ^
Irrelevant attempt to shift the issue.
He brought up Smith’s DUI to demonstrate the imperfection of using criminal convictions only. Plea bargains are a perfect example of that. I’m fact, the persons actions are sufficient to bring charges for crime A. For the sake of expediency, and for many other reasons, the state allows the person to plead guilty of a lesser crime, crime B.
That was his point, and you know or should have known it. Bringing up Harbaugh’s plea is irrelevant. It does not exculpate Smith. But even if it did, that isn’t what’s at issue, because he didn’t bring up Smith’s DUI as a piece of character evidence. He brought it up to criticize your reliance on criminal convictions to the point of ingnoring all other evidence.
But I’ll indulge you. Harbaugh also drove drunk. It was for this, and his punching of Jim Kelly, that I was worried about his temper when he was hired. There, you have your “what about” defense. It’s irrelevant.
August 30th, 2018 at 11:09 AM ^
As a kid, I stole a toy from Meijer. That I was never investigated, accused, or charged with a crime does not mean that I didn’t steal the toy. It doesn’t even begin to suggest that I didn’t steal the toy. In fact, in light of the fact that I did actually steal the toy, it can be read as a criticism of my local PD and the anti-theft measures of my local Meijer.
But Section 1 would offer that fact in defense of me. He’s pulling a real Giuliani.
August 30th, 2018 at 1:23 PM ^
Well, I am real sorry that we got diverted into a backwater discussion of "plea bargains." I'm not much of an expert on plea bargains. More to the point, than plea bargains, are the cases that are not prosecuted because of a lack of probable cause, or a general lack of evidence to warrant a prosecution.
August 29th, 2018 at 3:05 PM ^
The old NEVER CONVICTED defense. Really strong.
