Oh the places we could go with this one!

I dont agree with his views, so I dont listen to him. I also feel bad for him on this. Unfortunate that he got burned. No one deserves that, obviously.
But it does make me shake my head in disgust the way his lawyer quoted up early to the news.
"“He’s a public figure on TV and does the Fox pregame show on Sundays,” Thurswell said. “He also meets with clients. Even today we don’t know if there will be any residual scarring...or hypopigmentation, where a white spot appears instead of normal skin color.”

Valenti probably deserves some compensation, but the posturing from the lawyer is unneeded in the news story. Yuck.

as to who ends up being liable, the waiter or the resturaunt?
December 17th, 2013 at 6:05 PM ^
They'll go after the restaurant of course. That's where the money is. You're not going to get jack by suing a waiter.

dude got a hot load of meat right in his grill. karma man karma
December 17th, 2013 at 4:19 PM ^
He was injured, probably painfully, through no fault of his own. Probably not the ideal fodder for humor.
That said, he appears to be okay, so one teensy little "hot takes" joke won't hurt.
December 17th, 2013 at 4:35 PM ^
Very true, I just think we have to do the "if MSU fans said the same thing on RCMB about a Michigan commentator/demagogue, would we start threads raging on and on about it" test.
That being said, thisiscmd's well done joke is perfect.
December 17th, 2013 at 5:10 PM ^
And rest assured, any "good" or "he deserves it" crap will be pulled.
December 17th, 2013 at 4:19 PM ^
Like the cow says, "Eat moar chicken". It is healthier and safer too.
December 17th, 2013 at 4:22 PM ^
Have you seen how they prepare the chicken at that restaurant?
December 17th, 2013 at 4:23 PM ^
MAKE... STEAKS!!!
December 17th, 2013 at 4:26 PM ^
was accosted by a homosexual baseball player...
December 17th, 2013 at 4:33 PM ^
I don't think it's possible to make a thread title funnier that "burned by flaming meat." The imagery of that is priceless.
December 17th, 2013 at 4:37 PM ^
Does anyone remember when the term "flamer" was an insult? Now Mike Valenti is a flamer in more than one sense. I'm sure he will sue and he and Snooki can take that settlement cash to buy a big house on the New Jersey shore.

Besides possessing Italian ancestry they have noth---oh, wait.
Vaffanculo.

All are from Jersey or New York?

The fact that I just scrolled through that and received ZERO photoshops in return is all kinds of dissapointing.

When I'd go up to state to visit friends in college, I'd meet kids from all over the country. A lot of kids from elsewhere in the Midwest and Mid-Atlantic/Northeast.

We make fun of MSU but it's still better than the public universities in New York. Cheaper than the comparably ranked private colleges too, even at the second-highest nonresident tuition in the Big Ten (Michigan is by far the highest).

Stonybrook is a pretty good school.
Comparing SAT scores of incoming student population:
Stonybrook -
SAT Critical Reading: 530 / 640
SAT Math: 600 / 700
SAT Writing: 530 / 640

Poor guy is going to have scabs on his face for his first Rose Bowl. The next time he gets to take a pic at the Rose Bowl that beard will be grey.

So this is my chance to ask a question I've had for sometime without giving credence to Valente or starting a thread.
How does 97.1 survive with him on the air?
As some have mentioned, Michigan fans will do anything to avoid that channel from 2-6 when he's on the air. I can't imagine anyone with Michigan ties would advertise on 97.1 due to the hatred this guy spews. The number of Michigan fans who are sports fans making their drive home at that time can't make this a good decision. I don't buy that people listen to hate him. I don't think they do. Sparties don't even like him.
Yeah I know it's a schtick but I don't see how this clown stays on the air now that there's a reasonable alternative up the dial.
also my chance to say... karma's a bitch and Valente is now, literally, a flaming pile of dog $hit

This is totally the opposite of true. Unfortunately, a lot of idiots call in and represent Michigan fans as, well, idiots.
December 17th, 2013 at 6:01 PM ^
He was always polarizing to me because even though it felt dirty, I often found myself agreeing with him on the non-UM/MSU topics. But he'd always slip some snark in even if it wasn't related, like making fun of Brady Hoke's voice, and then I'd say "f*ck you" to the radio and be pissed off for 20 minutes. It's best just to avoid him altogether. And I'm sure with MSU going to their first Rose Bowl since the Reagan administration, he's probably more insufferable.
I think there are plenty of Michigan fans who are just gluttons for punishment and listen to him regardless. Too bad he refuses to take any calls from Michigan fans with a brain.
As for him being burned, literally, there's really no joy out of this. It's more fun to make fun of him when he has a "MAKE PLAYS!" like meltdown. Not this. But he's still a dick.

I think Mike V is a dirt bag. Way to anti Michigan and it gets old enough where I change the radio dial.
I don't wish Mike V harm or personal injury, but the Dude needed a nose job anyway - LOL.
I wish him a speedy recovery, but no rating on his radio show.
December 17th, 2013 at 5:51 PM ^
Server must've been a Michigan fan.
December 17th, 2013 at 6:08 PM ^
What's that saying? Out of the frying pan and onto my face.......
December 17th, 2013 at 6:09 PM ^
DID HE EAT THE STEAK???
December 17th, 2013 at 6:10 PM ^
is that it didn't fix his nose.
December 17th, 2013 at 6:18 PM ^
He proly had it coming to him.. Lol. But seriously though I can't listen to 97.1 anymore cause of him he will be talking about tigers baseball or something that has nothing to do with Michigan sports at all and out of the blue he will rip Michigan and our fans ANY chance he can get and he acts like he knows all about are programs and the players and says they suck or there this and that. He is always negative and I will not ever listen to that show again. He needs to go home..
December 17th, 2013 at 6:18 PM ^
who doesn't love them some flaming meat? Am I Right?
December 17th, 2013 at 6:28 PM ^
Valenti is truly a horses ass who I never mind seeing make a fool out of himself. If he had somehow done this to himself while drunk and doing something stupid, maybe I could laugh about it. But there's really no way to get joy out of anyone getting burned by incompetence at a restaurant.
December 17th, 2013 at 6:57 PM ^
Why is everyone so worried about Valenti? Everyone knows that vinegar and water don't burn.
December 17th, 2013 at 6:57 PM ^
December 17th, 2013 at 7:12 PM ^
someone yelled "OPA" when he ignited.
That restaurant will be called "Valenti's Steak House" by 2015.

... but really, I hate anybody that does the job he does. I just find sports radio to be so, so, so painful. I like sports -- the gladiator in the arena -- and I like thoughtful analysis. I do not like the incessant whining from fat, middle aged blowhards. Give me audiobooks and NPR any day of the week.
#hermmed.
December 17th, 2013 at 7:33 PM ^
As I understand it, the Flaming Tomahawk is really expensive -- upwards of $50. Didn't know Valenti could float that.
December 17th, 2013 at 8:06 PM ^
Genuinely curious: how much does that bastard make per year?
