Check out the Miner's Den in Royal Oak.  I purchased my Wife's ring there 36 years ago.

07/02/2018 - 5:39pm Grew up a Romulus Eagle.

I…

Grew up a Romulus Eagle.

I live in Troy now and formerly Royal Oak for a total of 37 years.

Pros

-Central location.

-Great schools

Cons

-Folks not that friendly.

-Smaller yeads.

05/29/2018 - 6:17pm 2 Rides

For years the Wife drives something bigger because she drives less.  We are all the way down to a CR-V for her.  It has some utility and we travel in it.

I currently drive a Corolla and we burn it up VS the more expensive CR-V except for vacations.  I've always kept a cheaper car to burn up with the miles.

05/28/2018 - 10:35pm Keep Momma and the kids Happy

Unless the Wife loves the big city I bet everyone will be happier in AR.

Big city, rat race, BIG housing debt, long commutes, etc.

Sounds like you have a good job and I bet a good life where you are.  The grass isn't always greener.

05/28/2018 - 10:30am Faster D

I believe the 2018 D is faster which should translate into better.

Team speed is great for stopping big plays or stopping playes before they get started.  On the downside you can't let the O use it against you by over running and getting out of postion.  Always do YOUR assishment first when playing D.

05/23/2018 - 9:39pm My 2 Cents

I have most of my $ in a S&P tracking fund.  Some international, etc.

I also have some stocks I pick.  Visa(V) and Master card(MA) are my super stars.  Kinder Morgan(KMI) is my stinker, but I'm still long.  I'm holding even with  a bank(SAN) stock hoping it will bounce, but nothing yet.

05/23/2018 - 9:27pm Old Faithful

I had a 99 Civic I purchased used a work commuter.  I passed it to my son who drove for 6 years.  It got hit 3-4 times and kept rolling.  I only had it fixed once.  I sold it to a kid for $150 bucks about 4-5 years ago.  Dang thing wouldn't die.  It looked like it had been in a Demo derby and lost.

I had a Toyota Echo for three years and a drunk totaled it parked on my street.  Insurance gave me  1k more than I paid for.  That is the first time I ever beat the MAN!!!  Dang it felt good!!!

05/21/2018 - 9:50pm Wolverinebutt

I'm not interested in man butt because Wolverinebutt is where its at!

05/15/2018 - 5:11pm Beefs

One of my cars in a 2011 CR-V.  Its a great little ride that has served me well and I am keeping it another 2-3 years or so.  I changed the air filter last night and it was a chore.  The engineers need to leave us room to change filters, bulbs and basic things.  Hire some smart U of M engineers!!!

I would love a small truck or El Camino type vehicle as someone mentioned, but I will NOT spend that kind of $$$ on a depreciating asset.  Be smart with your monry young guys unless you need a truck for work.  I drove a mini van when my kids were young and saved a bundle while looking uncool to some.

Ford Idea - I know they are killing the sedans, but I felt a Fusion classic for the older crowd would be popular.  Give it a bench seat, roomy doors, scrap the bells and whistles and BAM.  Built it and they will come.  Take one model and make it old school.  I have a 2005 Civic the kid is still driving that has crank windows.  Auto trans, air and a stereo is all many folks need.

05/14/2018 - 5:13pm My Three Kids

I have an ER Doc, a CPA/Fin guy at a small hedge fund, and a librarian.

-The Doc was waited listed for  medical school at U of M and turned down at the very end.

-The Librarian was turned down(masters).  Some home sickness pulled her GPA down at Grand Valley.

-The CPA didn't apply.

I was very disappointed but moved on.  I have friends with kids that got turned down and they were very smart kids.  I love U of M football, but long term this sours people in my opinion.  Sparty grows stronger from this.  I would prefer my tax dollars goong for Michigan residents kids.

05/12/2018 - 1:07pm Love to Have Both Bros

The talk of Brothers reminds me of the funny movie Twins.

Arnold - Was huge, smart and athletic.

Danny DiVito - Short, fat,  and dumb.

05/10/2018 - 7:18pm Toledo

My Son lived in Toledo for 7 years until about 2 years ago.

He gave Toledo thumbs down.  Gangs and drugs downtown.  Lack of night life.  Why did they have I-75 unfer construction for like 10 years???

The one good thing was housing was CHEAP!

05/08/2018 - 4:43pm Chevy

1967 Cameo ragtop.

I also loved the 1962 & up Chevy II's.

05/06/2018 - 9:27am My Guess

My guess is every M player works on something(s) to get better in the off seasons.

Coach B most likely meets with them and tells them things to work on.

05/02/2018 - 4:53pm Gibby is bad

Gibby is tough to listen to.

I like Jim Price on the radio, but I know some folks don't like him.

04/21/2018 - 12:18am Public Library?

Will the public library system reinvent itself or fade away?

Could the public library only be for the poor in the future or just close?  What will library wokers do if they all close?

Remember Stars Wars the 3rd of the first batch there is a Librarian that cannot help with a star chart with Obi wan.  Humm, AI won't take their jobs?

04/11/2018 - 9:15pm UP

I'm not a Mack Island fan - sorry.

-The pictured rocks boat tour is VERY nice.

-Have very warm stuff for the baby because its the UP.

-The falls and Whitefish point are a must.  Bring back some rocks from the big lake at the point.  Don't miss Browns fish house for whitefish by the point.

-Don't leave the UP without some yopper food(pasty).  I like Suzies just west of St Ignace on M2.  Its outside eating only and no bathroom, but there is park and bathrooms near.  Pasties need catsup or gravy.  I'm a gravy man and my Finnish Wife and family curses me for the gravy.  Don't start a gravy battle here: )

-If you go west Bond Falls is under rated.

-See some stuff and plan on going back.

03/07/2018 - 8:43pm MSU =

Over-rated.

03/07/2018 - 5:47pm 20 Year Man

I've been at my current job for 20 years.  I'm 60 so I'm hanging in there and this is pretty certain to be my last ride.  I have been lucky with only two real jobs.  Thay have paid decent and I have never been out of work(LARGE KNOCK ON WOOD).

The future had grown dim at my first employer.  The year was 1998 when the Tech field was on fire becuase of Y2K.  If you could spell COBOL you could contract for $50 an hour.  Jobs were so easy to get I jumped but only looked for jobs that were long term.  It worked out for me.

Young guys - If you need a job change do it when things are hot!!  Get established so you are untouchable during down turns.  Think long term.

Note - Y2K -- I spent New Years Eve at work(double time pay) waiting for the world to end.  Not a dang thing happened!!!

03/03/2018 - 9:29am Big Mo Rolls

After the game Tommy doesn't want to talk about basketball.

03/01/2018 - 9:20pm Mr T

Mr T gave them some pain today.  Great job.

02/18/2018 - 10:17am Wow!

I didn't look at the link, but all the negging and comments made this entertaining.

I rarely neg.  If I don't like something I cut my losses and move on quickly.

02/12/2018 - 6:12pm To Old

I'm to old or I would test.  C'mon you young guys.

02/09/2018 - 10:33pm 5-6 Years Away

If you work at it most folks can build a nice nest egg over time.

-Live below your means.

-Invest regular in the stock market.

-Work on being debt free

I did pretty good for an average guy with this simple method.  I was completely debt free before 60 and it is a great and powerful feeling.  Skip the mcMansion, fancy cars,  and really expension vacations young guys unless you really make the big bucks.

01/31/2018 - 4:54pm Blind Guys

So your telling me the blind guy that was the AD is getting replaced(temp) by the blind guy that was his right hand man.  Yeah, that really changes things.

01/30/2018 - 4:17pm Little John

When John Engler was Gov he loved to attack Teachers, public schools, and the Teachers untions - my opinion.  So Sparty put him in charge of a school? Hummmm

01/27/2018 - 4:17pm Jed Fish

Jed we miss you!

01/16/2018 - 11:16pm Major Upgrade

I finally dumped my old Song tube TV.  It worked fine so i just kept that sucker, but it wouldn't die.  It weighted 230 pounds(true story). .

I love the new Samsung HD 4k smart TV from Costco.

01/16/2018 - 5:11pm I'm Cheap

I want a car with some utility, cheap, low repair costs, & good gas mileage.  All I need is air, criuse and a radio.

I would love a small, affordable pickup.  I doubt anyone will build a cheap one.

The Wife has a 2011 CR-V I puchased used and it has been outstanding. 82k and bullet proof so far.

01/13/2018 - 3:48pm Its Tough

It is tough saying that while your face is still stinging from the BITCH slap you just took.  I hope we play them again so he can get some "Mo".

01/03/2018 - 12:46am Earlier

I posted earlier how disappoited I was.

-OL of course, RB's can't block, young WR's were lost.

-Disjointed play calling - was the play calling new for Drevno?  It appeared that way.

-Pep had no pep in his step in the passing calls.

The D is thriling to watch detroying lesser teams, but I think they need more variety against the better teams.  More zone, spy JT Barret part time,  we need a few more suprises and different looks than 100 percent pressure which the other teams expect.

01/02/2018 - 11:21pm Disappointed Still

Weaknesses seem like many

-OL, QB, RB's can't block, young WR's were a HUGE disappointment, D giving up big plays against top teams, O play calling was disjointed, D needs some zone mixed in or some other calls besides 99 percent pressure which is to predictable against top teams.

I still loyal, but I'm worried about next year after this bowl game disaster.  We looked like a poor high school team in the second half.

12/28/2017 - 1:21pm Old school

Give them cocks an old school M beat down.

12/28/2017 - 1:12pm My Issue

This is or could be a player safety issue.  To plan and practice this play is a Dick move. My sons played football as I did so I have been around the game a lot of years.  D move!!!

12/25/2017 - 11:49am Beat'em

We are going to beat them like a rented mule.

12/23/2017 - 1:16pm Escanaba

I think there are only two things to do up there.

1 - Drink

2 - F  -you fill in the blanks

I really enjoy both of those activities, but I have other things I like to do.

12/21/2017 - 7:59pm Green Lantern?

I think there was a couple of them?  The one in the Madison Hts area made a great pie.

Shields in Troy is my usual these days.

I didn't like Papa Cheap(John's) after he cried about giving his people a raise in the dollar range.  He acted like it would drstroy him and the guy is MEGA rich.  Dude, share some of the sucess with the employees that made you rich.

12/19/2017 - 6:22pm Weight Program

This kid might really turn into something after a couple of years on a football strength program.  Bigger, stronger, faster here we come.

12/14/2017 - 9:07pm Haters

Haters gonna hate : )

12/12/2017 - 8:28pm My 2 Cents

I think that was an excellent question from the lady friend.  That means she has been watching the game and the subbing at other positions(most of the D, RB & WR).

My opinion is the O line is a special animal.  I played D line in DII so my O line days are from high school in the 70's. The O line is more working together and coordination that other postions on the field.  I am having trouble explaining it any better than that.

The D lines sub heavy these days.  Each player has assignments, but it is a little more of going all out every play,  get to the ball or spot, high effort/high motor play.  The O line requires more discipline.

JBB and pass protection - I haven't watched film or watched close enough.  I wonder if his techique still needs work or if he is not athletic enough on the edge.  He may be better suited at guard, but we don't need guards like we need tackles. .

11/28/2017 - 3:58pm The Old Days

My family road trips were old Fords to TN.  No air, but all of the windows down.

My kids had it easy with a Honda mini van.  It was a great traveling van.

11/21/2017 - 5:49pm Plus 1

Thank you for the excellent post.  Win or lose lets get behind JOK.

When he doesn't win the starting QB job all he seemed to do is support the starter and keep working.  Lets be classy and NOT boo him, etc.  This will be his last football game as a player and he will give us everything he can.

11/20/2017 - 8:42pm Zone Bleed

Instead of the zone read bring out the beef and punish dem Buckies with my new O the zone bleed.  .

11/18/2017 - 5:30pm Punt Return

Our first guy down I felt got bumped from behind - blocked in the back.  This was right in front of the return man.  What do you think???

11/18/2017 - 1:38am QB Knockout

We knock their QB outta the game in the 1st half.  M rolls 20 - 10 with O line play that would make Bo proud.

We eat $2 steak after the game.  The Cheeseheads get cheese whiz, stale crackers and some Old Mill to wash it down.

11/05/2017 - 4:10pm D Heads

Let the D heads in the newpaper and Mike Vantani yap all they want.  I'm long and strong with Coach Harbo.  Don't jump off the wagen and whine at the first sign of trouble.  Those who stay will be champions is in play, not Oakland.

11/05/2017 - 4:05pm RB's

Higdon and Evans both ran really hard last night.  It was a joy to watch.

Moving forward and I care how many yards they get as long as we keep winning.  The team, the team, the team.

10/28/2017 - 4:21pm Nick Name for Peters?

-Pete

-Pistol Pete

-Sweet Meat Pete

-???Any Ideas???

10/26/2017 - 4:41pm Bummer

My preseason prediction was 10 wins.  Beat everyone you are expected to beat and take out one of the big three PSU, Wisconsin or OSU.

I'm down to 8 wins now.  I just haven't seen anything on the field where I can say we can get Wisconsin on the road.  This hurts me, but OSU is just on another level than us.

Sorry my fellow fans, but we just have to many issues on the OL, QB and WR positions to have a big run.  Next year will be better.

10/22/2017 - 12:39pm OSU VS PSU

I always cheer against OSU and MSU no matter what.
