Lest us not forget.

Alabama…

Lest us not forget.

Alabama's Recruiting Dominance Continues (Wow) (247sports.com)

So, to point 1 above... he's…

To point 1 above about xfer portal and guys wanting to get paid... he's not wrong, but the irony of this of course is that he illegally! paid players for years to get the best recruits, so for all intents and purposes, he had a monopoly on 5 stars, in no small part due to the Bama bagmen.

So yeah, Nick - it doesn't work anymore.  There's parity cause now everyone can pay their guys. Sorry that little luxury doesn't exist for you anymore.

Exactly.  To draw parallel's…

Exactly.  To draw parallel's to a company/corporation - when you have ineptitude at the top, you could have the best employees in the world and eventually the company will fail.

A new AD and a new head…

A new AD and a new head coach.

AB + AP = TH

AB + AP = TH

Great. Now we can lose by 5…

Great. Now we can lose by 5 instead of 15.

Team sucks, fans suck.  Team…

Team sucks, fans suck.  Team sucks year over year? Find a new coach. Oh, sorry - can't do that because our AD feels the best plan of action is to do nothing.

Being a Dexter alum and…

Being a Dexter alum and still living in the area, warms the heart to see.

Also, can attest - he is fast.  Went to a few games and saw him live and he's as advertised.  Best of luck to him this upcoming season.

Taking my son to basketball…

Taking my son to basketball practice and the wife will take the daughter to volleyball practice.  I'll put him to bed before they even get home so... yeah!  Real life shit.  Despite my wife saying she doesn't like flowers, I'll get her some tomorrow - when they're half price!

May be an image of 4 people and text that says 'Write me a Valentine's Day poem. Roses are red, chocolates are nice I'll get yours tomorrow because they'll be half price. Riken Beand'

At this point it feels like…

At this point it feels like a bit of an FU to M from Jim.

Lovely.

Lovely.

Time to go on the run again…

Time to go on the run again after this suggestion, Richard.

Seems a little old and not…

Seems a little old and not necessarily qualified?  But hey, seems like a Patriot and a god fearing man so... who are we to judge?  I'm sure he'll relate well to the players and will be a real force on the recruiting trail.

Perfectly stated.  Great…

Perfectly stated.  Great post, thank you.  Now I wonder how we help bring this to fruition.

Damn, sorry to hear this,…

Damn, sorry to hear this, man.  So, completely unsolicited advice here and somewhat ironic posting this in a Toby Keith thread as I'm assuming? he was a big BBQ guy? ... but I would strongly consider going vegan if you haven't already.  Heavy on the dark greens, legumes, green tea. While most of the literature out there is related to prevention, also beneficial whilst fighting it off.

This article has zero substance and I'm struggling to find a good reason for it to exist.

I didn't attend Ross and was…

I didn't attend Ross and was an Econ and Poli Sci major in LS&A.  From folks I know who when to Ross, it's extremely competitive.  Personally, I don't think where he stands in the % of grads means anything.  Work hard and he'll do fine.

That said, pursuing something only for money is a horrible idea.  I get the, "I grew up tough with no loot" thing, but pursuing something just for money is a recipe for burnout and unhappiness.  Sorry, it just is.

Getting that first big job/chasing raises/promotions is great, and then afterwards all you care about is the next one and more often than not, you're miserable.  I've been there.  If you want to be a good uncle, you tell him to take a bunch of intro classes in his first year and see what he likes.  "But Uncle, I just want to make money".  Be a broken record. Don't accept that as an answer, if you really care about him.  Hopefully, he can find something that he enjoys and that will also pay him well.  I would not expect an 18-year-old kid to necessarily have a passion yet.   He doesn't need to have it all figured out just yet; your approach, IMHO, should be steering him towards exploring his options to see if he can find something he really enjoys.

Brian Branch? I mean, that's…

Brian Branch? I mean, that's a quick shift from player to coach.

This is excellent news.

This is excellent news.

No No No, Move along. …

No No No, Move along.  Nothing to see here, folks.  Herbert couldn't win a Lombardy trophy here so obviously he wouldn't have stayed... no matter what!  Stop blaming, Warde!  He didn't do anything!  Anything!

Yes, it's getting old…

Yes, it's getting old because most people want to look at it in a completely binary way.  Either JH wanted to go to the pros and would always leave or Warde is a shithead and that's why he left.  Both can be true at the same time.

If Warde wasn't... Warde?  Might JH have stayed? It's possible.  If my boss is a shithead, the chance of me leaving my job is higher.  Warde apologists feel this absolves Warde completely from this and I don't agree with that.

Amen. As I was chatting with…

Amen. As I was chatting with some buddies last night and this AM - I think being aggressive is good generally, but it's certainly situational.  When you're up 14, going for it to try and get up 21 is still 3 scores.

So, IMO (armchair QB) going for it to try to "still get up 3 scores" is not worth the risk. When a team stops you on 4th down, whether by their good defense or your fuck up (last night) there's a massive momentum swing.  All of a sudden, they're back in it. Now, if you're up 10 or 17? Going up another score (TD vs FG) seems more worth risk there to increase the # of scores differential.

Disagree.  I think they'll…

Disagree.  I think they'll make it back in the next 2-3 years.  Have another solid draft, get rid of Cam Sutton (I don't think I've seen a CB get burned as much as he did this year, ouch) and MCDC getting more experience (I hope) they'll be in fine shape.

As much as it sucks, and the…

As much as it sucks, and the benefits of S&C guys in the NFL has been called into question here, JH doesn't "owe us" anything, IMO.  If this is his guy and he wants to follow JH then it is what it is.

God I'm so tired of that fat…

God I'm so tired of that fat lazy piece of shit.  Get the fuck out of here and make way for someone who will get off their ass and actually do something besides consume way too many calories.

Well deserved, coach.

Well deserved, coach.

Look, man.  It's nothing…

Look, man.  It's nothing personal. We all shit the bed every now and again.

This could be the worst post…

This could be the worst post in 2024 so far.

Well said and I share the…

Well said and I share the sentiment completely.  Thankful to have a front seat for it and now I just have to decide on my NC swag and all of the NC pictures, news articles, etc. to put up in the basement to go along with all of my 97 stuff.

High quality stuff all…

High quality stuff all around.  Watched it all this morning and will very likely watch it again, in the future, many times.

Why are you refusing to…

Why are you refusing to attribute even a shred of doubt/blame on Warde?

"Unless you work in the athletic department, close to Warde and Harbaugh, I don't know how you'd know what their relationship really was."

JUB said it was icy.  It's icy.

"I don't know if Warde is good at his job"

You don't? What do your eyes say?  How many top coaches has he let go?  Juwan Howard is still here after slapping another coach.

Bestow us peasants your…

Bestow us peasants your golden capitalist wisdom, oh wise one.

We shall wait here, on bended knee, with open hands, simply hoping and praying for just a nugget of your glorious intellect.

Warde, stop drinking and go…

Warde, stop drinking and go to bed

All the people that were…

All the people that were defending Warde in the Warde thread a few hours ago saying it wasn't AT ALL his fault... feel free to just sit this one out eh?

One that took far too long…

One that took far too long to come to? Were there black candidates specifically passed over for the job when we had an opening? If not, then this is a really stupid statement to make and you're virtue signaling. If there's a situation I'm not aware of where we passed over a qualified black HC, ignore all of the above.

Fair point. But who got…

Fair point. But who got Harbaugh? A person not named Warde. Just sayin!

Fair point. But who got…

Fair point. But who got Harbaugh? A person not named Warde. Just sayin!

Exactly.  And I'm not saying…

Exactly.  And I'm not saying those are all his fault. But to fan on all of them? Man. Pay me a million a year and I'll run top coaches out.

If your boss suspended you…

If your boss suspended you... without notice... for buying a recruit a burger. How would that make you feel? Warm and fuzzy or annoyed and shitty?

Why is it so binary? How…

Why is it so binary? How about if your boss suspended you without notice? Didn't defend you? Would you be loyal? Just because you job searched before doesn't mean you will again.

It's very annoying to me to see posters who have been here a long time and know the situation, like you.. like... almost defend Warde. Bakich. Beilein. Harbaugh. Keeping Juwan. Jesus, what other proof are you looking for that he's a horrible AD and likely had at least some effect on this situation?

You act like this is a given…

Exactly.  I mean, 0-3 in the big 3... is... not great, Bob!

In the last few weeks I had…

In the last few weeks I had been a bit less critical of Warde.  Now that an NFL deal is getting closer to fruition, I've changed my tune a bit.

If my boss suspended me without notice for a bullshit infraction, I'd be pissed.  Could've sacked up and told the NCAA to fuck off.  Instead he capitulated like a bitch to the NCAA (and stapleton's wishes?).  We know there's an "icy relationship" per JUB.  I don't inherently blame Warde for this on it's own, but JH, despite being quirky, seems like the guy you wanna keep around. Spygate was a bit of a different beast but, you just wonder if Warde being there and not having his back might've created the extra push he needed to hit the road.  We'll likely never know.
