It does seem to be that we…

It does seem to be that we have tried nothing. Agree with that statement completely.

This argument comes up a lot when there is a mass shooting, and I would love to hear someone with a rational plan that they think will work.

Not a ban everything plan, but something feasible that could appease as many sides of the argument as possible and also curb gun violence.

It is obvious our government officials, with impact from lobbyists and constituents to please cannot or will not fix this.

I wonder how many kids don’t…

I wonder how many kids don’t play or are not allowed to play by their parents?

The reality is that baseball sure seems to be declining as does football for youth  participation.

Travel sports have caused a major impact on that. Travel soccer is in Fall and Spring, what about Lacrosse, Swim, Men’s and Women’s Volleyball, Basketball etc etc

So I might disagree with your statement on it helping the sport grow.

My son also plays in a…

My son also plays in a league that limits who can run the ball based on weight etc. They also spend a lot of time teaching technique. This was an Under 11 league.

Tackle football numbers seem…

Tackle football numbers seem to be in decline. Many of the High Schools in West Michigan have see. A decrease in numbers and some of the schools have switched to an 8 man league or drop the team all together.

We lost our daughter at 30…

We lost our daughter at 30 weeks; she would be 15 on Sunday and it’s still difficult.

We have been blessed with 3 amazing boys since.

Prayers for all those who have gone through this heart wrenching awful thing.

Was at the game today and…

Was at the game today and kept thinking that. Those around me were yelling at guys like Keegan and Hinton.

Offensive line does not seem to be jelled. Hinton does not seem to be the guy. Also, is our second transfer center in two years finally catching up to us?

Also kept waiting for Corum or Edwards to break one and saw more out of Mullings today.

Yes possibly. I think part…

Yes possibly. I think part of it was his jersey looked a size too small. Hard to say; was only a couple of plays.

Jenkins and Harrell looking good so far as is Zeke Berry.

Mason Graham looks a lot…

Mason Graham looks a lot bigger out there. He was standing out to me in not a good way. Any one else see that?

Avant- on the radio said…

Avant- on the radio said Corum seems hobbled; but Edwards looks ready. Said he has a thumb injury.

Hope they provide epic performances today.

MSU is expected to look…

MSU is expected to look better; that is the issue. That game was much closer than it ever should have been. Western could have easily had the lead in the fourth if they didn’t have some bad turnovers. They did not look like a top Big Ten team in that game. Thorne looked mediocre at best, and there is no Kenneth Walker to save them.

We should beat them this year; but we are their Super Bowl and weird things always happen in that game.

I would love to take my son…

I would love to take my son.

This is a great way to honor your Dad.

Does anyone know the…

Does anyone know the schedule for the rest of the week, or where I could find it? I checked Google with no luck.

The family is taking a trip to Mackinac City and the UP this week, and did not know if we would be anywhere near team.

Thanks

Celebrating Easter with my wife and kids  then heading to in laws for Easter Sunday dinner. After dinner, the large family dinner.

Enjoy this glorious day gents.

What are we doing! Get it…

What are we doing! Get it close and then run stupid offense. We have no rhythm.

We have a Switch and a XBox…

We have a Switch and a XBox One. I have 11, 9, and 7 year old boys.

Mariokart, Smash Bros are great on Switch. Also play the Yoshi games and boys love Kirby.

Xbox we play Rocket League together alot. They love Minecraft. Also like playing Star Wars Battlefront.

Youngest loves the Lego games also! Marvel ones are great! Cant wait for new Star Wars one.

I don't claim to know the…

I don't claim to know the culture from the inside. I am looking at things from 10,000 feet and maybe, hopefully I am wrong about the football team. It just feels different from a fan perspective; and there you have it... BPONE. However, I also feel apathy which is never good.

I will watch the games, root for Michigan as I always have. It is just the lows do not get me that low anymore. I gave props to my Spartan colleagues for having a better game plan and team that day. The hate and vitriol is gone. Maybe its from all the times my wife has said to me, "I thought Michigan was good this year?"

What stands out to me is…

What stands out to me is culture. The players speak of it, and Coach Howard oozes it. This eas evident from his initial press conference.

Compare this to Harbaugh. He sure seemed to be building that culture in the beginning, but somewhere it seems to have plateaued. It seems to have lost that excitement/passion.

You also have to wonder how expectations from the fanbase play in to all of this. With Jim we expected Championships; with Juwan it seemed to be excitement with some uncertainty.

What is the problem? It…

What is the problem? It cannot be just one thing.

Harbaugh seems to have the Ohio State game years ago negatively impact his fire.

What is the Culture like for this team?

How much has OSU being a top 4 contender negatively impacted us?

Why does the D seem worse? We need Hokes D lines with this offense.

I felt apathetic yesterday; knew we would lose after watching first half.

Oldest went out for first time this am. Saw a doe but she never stopped to get a shot off. Younger brother going out this evening and in the am. Oldest back out Sunday evening.

First time hunting for both boys, so hoping for something positive.

Either way it will be quality time in the woods for the boys.

10 year old went out for first time this am. Saw a doe but she never stopped to get a shot off. 9 year old going out this evening and in the am. 10 year old Sunday evening.

First time hunting for both boys, so hoping for something positive.

Either way it will be quality time in the woods for the boys.

We had the option of in…

We had the option of in person every day or remote with the option to transition to in person later on the year. We chose to keep our boys home. They are in 1st, 4th, and 5th. Wife used to be an Elem Teacher; and will be home with them all day.

I am a Middle School Teacher and am going back to an in person hybrid model where I will see my students 4 of the 5 days. Im excited to go back, but know things will not be the same. Schools will not be back to normal for quite some time.

I support parents who send their children, and those who choose to learn remotely. It has to be what is best for you and your family.

Even if schools open, a…

Even if schools open, a great number of parents will keep their students home.

With the science on masks seemingly changing it gives a person pause as to what to do.

Are we not concerned in the autonomous power our Governor seems to be taking?

I cannot imagine Elementary school children handling and safely wearing masks all day; even if they are only wearing them in the hallways etc. I have taught that grade level and realize the impossibilities of that directive. Most adults do not wear or handle them properly.

NeverPunt with some awesome…

NeverPunt with some awesome advice. My boys are 10,9 and 7 now and we survived those young years and are on to a new set of challenges.

We did a family vacation to the Smoky Mountains when they 5, 4 and 2; after that I second the idea of going to sleep when they did.

The most quiet is early am; utilize that time and take care of you.

Most of all, enjoy the journey! It goes quickly and those years are so precious.

The key to a lot of this is…

The key to a lot of this is expectations. Are you expecting true online learning? That is not what we are doing. We are doing the best we can.

As a teacher at the Middle School level, in one week I had to come up with 6 weeks of online learning, and 6 weeks of at home learning for those who choose that route. I did my best, and continue to do so. We adapt as we go, but I am at my best in my class with 30 some 7th graders in my 5 class periods. The interactions, discussions, and learning are deeper and meaningful. This is barely skimming the surface.

As a parent of 3 elementary aged children it is also frustrating at times; but I know my boys teacher's really well and that they are also doing their best.

My main priority is checking in on my kids and making sure they are okay physically and emotionally. The learning is secondary.

Teaching is not the same as changing the product at a Ford company. I hope all your teachers are doing their best, and have all your children's needs at the forefront.

The Braylon game was super satisfying. Hanging with some MSU friends and they lost their minds. Great Halloween memory.

Happy Easter. We had a zoom meeting for dinner with the in laws, and that was fun. Wish we all could have been together, but making the best of things. Keep telling my boys they are living through history.

1. Cookies. You can eat more and not feel as guilty

2. Truck. Serves more purpose.

3. Khakis. More comfortable and versatile.

4. Iced Tea. Cant stand coffee.

5. Christmas morning. Way more joy and wonder. Love seeing my boys on Christmas morning light up with awe.

6. Chicken was going to Dum Dums house. Knock Knock....

Not going back until school is open again. Preparing some things for my students to work on online, and helping my boys with their school routines at our house.

I will be spending time with my wife, and three boys 10 and under. Creating some home school type structures, with alot of outdoors activities. Also creating some work Via Google Classroom; but know not all my students can get online.

Stay safe everyone, and be smart.

Happy New Year, and New…

Happy New Year, and New Decade. Go Blue.

I completely agree; watching…

I completely agree; watching it live it seemed like a drop by the wideout. In replay it is very debatable.

The blocked punt completely changed the game. Don't do that, and don't let Clemson go 94 yards for the winning score.

It was one of the more enjoyable games I have watched in awhile though. Sadly, shows how much NFL talent the Buckeyes and Tigers have.

I would be happy if Alexa…

I would be happy if Alexa heard us; means something is going on!

My boys were excited to get…

My boys were excited to get a Ring doorbell and Alexa for Mom. I got a Charter fishing trip from the in laws for some Lake Michigan Salmon fishing in the Spring.

Highlight was playing laser tag with all 3 boys after oldest got a set for Christmas.

I agree with most of your…

I agree with most of your post, but what tells you our lines, on either side, will be better?

Our Oline does not seem to get the push OSU was getting yesterday, and the dline got destroyed many times this year.

We need a Mo Hurst, Chris Wormley, etc. line, and we are Hoping Hinton and Mazi develop in to that. Dwumfour never did sadly.

Grandville football was my…

Grandville football was my first thought too.

I love watching them grind it out and utliize the talent they have. Agree with everyone that the Freshman should prepare for Varsity.

Question is do the qb and wideouts care? Have they, not their parents, but have they ever complained?

Enjoy the W's and the experience. It zooms by in an instant.

I would love to be able to…

I would love to be able to take my 9 year old to his first Michigan game, as well as donating to a worthy cause.

Our first was a stillborn,…

Our first was a stillborn, and hardest thing I have ever seen my wife do is to give birth three more times to our boys after we lost our little girl.

It is a club that is sadly bigger than you think.

Congrats to Sam and all my MGO brothers who have been through this.

I totally agree. I have 3…

I totally agree. I have 3 boys who played little league this year and am amazed by the parents watching and appaled by some of the coaches. It really turned me off to the whole league by how it was run, teams were stacked by coaches who were all on the board, and many coaches only cared about their own kids.

The school year is winding…

The school year is winding down and looking forward to a nice relaxing summer with the boys and wife. Sports are in full swing; oldest got his first triple and then scored a goal in his soccer game, middle got 6 outs playing second base and scored two goals in his game, little guy still dancing on the t ball field.

This thread had to be XM for sure. Enjoy the warm temps. Hoping to get some fishing in amongst all the sports.

Turn 42 in two weeks and celebrating 11 years of marriage in one week.

I think this is an amazing…

I think this is an amazing opportunity for the young men of Michigan Football. I am all for these trips, and love that they are able to do this every year. Truly, all learning is not done in the classroom.

Happy Easter everyone. Boys…

Happy Easter everyone. Boys already did the self proclaimed Worlds Fastest Easter Egg Hunt in front yard! Going to be a beautiful day after a nice but chilly Little League Opening Day yesterday.

He has risen indeed.

My wife had to bring me…

My wife had to bring me there, sign paperwork and agree to have it done. They would not so it otherwise. So lady has a Huge say in the matter.

I had mine done over Labor…

I had mine done over Labor Day weekend a few years ago. It was a bag or frozen peas and a lot of football watching.

After 5 boys, it was a good decision. We waited until the youngest was 2 before making our decision. No buyers remorse and everything still works fine.

My students have chromebooks…

My students have chromebooks that they take home with them in which they could participate in an online learning activity. The hard part is that some of my students do not have access to the internet and dont have the means to travel to a library/Mcdonalds who has free wifi.

Its a hiccup and does not affect everyone, but one other aspect to consider.

More schools are going to a…

More schools are going to a start before Labor Day; at least on the West Side. The issue with all of this is the timing of most snow days are in January and February. This puts a huge bind on many teachers during second trimester as it looses the moat days. This year has been unprecedented as far as days in a row.

This thread has been an interesting read from what to do with your kids on another snow day, to climate change, to homeschooling.

Im glad school districts do everything they can to make wise decisions. Do they sometimes cancel when we could have gone? Yes of course they do.

Enjoy the time with the kids at home from school, even though it is challenging at times.

Stay safe and hope everyone out there has power!

I dont think you can find…

I dont think you can find any officially licensed Disney and Michigan gear. We have gone to WDW twice with our boys and have bought different themed Mickey shirts from Etsy each time. The shirts have been anywhere from good to okay. Our boys never minded; just depends on what your expectations are.

Best of luck.

I am a teacher and cannot…

I am a teacher and cannot remember a storm like this causing so many days in a row. I had shoulder surgery last week Tuesday and my sub has only taught 2 days so far. Great for me that days off dont count as leave days though.

Been going a little stir crazy as are wife and three boys, but surviving.

Stay safe everyone.

The only time I found joy in…

The only time I found joy in Saturday was watching Ambry take it to the house. The rest of the game was more apathy than anything.

I think the punt block vs MSU, Iowa, and South Carolina broke me . Yet, I still will watch and cheer and be optimistic.

I'm 41, and weathered the Richrod and Home disasters. I think we have the right coaches but realize we are not Bama or sadly OSU, and feel more like MSU and/or Iowa.

Let's keep faith, and hope to see our boys turn it around.

Go Blue

Agree with that. Need to find an identity that works!
