Wishing all those who celebrate Easter a very happy and wonderful celebration, including Passover and any and all ways you choose to honor this day.

Pulled pork on the smoker, hot coffee in my hand, cilantro lime Cole slaw and cheesey potatoes. Food coma about to ensue.

Not a great Easter weekend for me and family. My dad’s knee replacement got infected last Friday and they tried to salvage it but two revision surgeries later it looks like we can finally go home today or tomorrow. Still a rough road ahead with 6 weeks of IV antibiotics but hopeful he can walk again normally before his birthday in July.

I feel ya! My dad suffered a spinal injury two weeks ago, was in ICU until surgery & hospital entirely for a week and a half, now in in-patient rehab. Almost zero movement from his knees to his shoulders though. He's shown some improvement and the doctors are optimistic, still not good at all.

Good luck to your dad & family!

Good luck to your Dad.  Make the best of Easter you can, I guess.

Wanted to reply/ask... Haven't infections after hospital procedures increased dramatically in the last 10-15 years?  Never used to hear about them and now they seem frequent.

Just me?

Damn you wings :). I really wanted to smoke a pork butt or at least do ribs, but the wife wants a traditional ham (I know they can be warmed up in the smoker, but what’s the point? It’s already been smoked).

Anyone else anticipating The Ten Commandments and Ben Hur? I’m an atheist, but love those movies. They’re two of the greatest epic films of all time.

If you adjust for inflation, and if you subtract out money from re-releases, The Ten Commandments is the biggest grossing movie of all time. For some reason it has never been re-released on a Nation wide scale like Gone With The Wind, The Sound Of Music, Star Wars, 101 Dalmatians, and other huge grossing movies have been.

Jaws and Doctor Zhivago are #2 and #3 on the list of biggest grossers of all time, that have never had Nation wide re-releases.

I love watching Yule Brenner in that movie. I just wish Charlton Heston could have been as animated in the second half of the movie as he was in the first. He was like a statue with lines. The only emotion he showed was when he begged God not to kill the first born Egyptians.

He was excellent start to finish in Ben Hur.

They also gave rise to some of the best Red Buttons jokes:

"Moses, who said to the Israelites before he parted the Red Sea, 'everyone put on your golashes. I've never done this trick before.'"

"Charlton Heston, who as he was coming down from Mount Sinai with the tablets said, 'geez, he didn't look like George Burns.'"

"Ben Hur, who said to his sister Ben Him, 'we better switch our names, or they're going to start calling us Ben Gay.'"

I have fond memories of waking up at 5:00 a.m., stopping to get donuts on the way to sunrise service, and then going out to brunch with family on Easter morning.

Happy Easter everyone. Boys already did the self proclaimed Worlds Fastest Easter Egg Hunt in front yard! Going to be a beautiful day after a nice but chilly Little League Opening Day yesterday.

He has risen indeed.
