Harbaugh's Defensive Assistants

A lot of people on this blog knew the 2018 class was going to be a disaster sans a couple players. It's surely looking like it.

Need more consistent recruiting, which means every staff member needs to pull their weight.

Green is solid. I have no issue with the kid. He has some speed and some of these flags are GARBAGE calls. MSU's mini CB from Cass did the EXACT same jersey tug and no flag. Them the breaks.

Vincent Gray... I don't want to go on the kid but he's not a corner. Safety perhaps. He was a late offer in a class that was underwhelming. Would he start at Michigan state? I don't know.

Gemon Green is young and showed some promise yesterday. 

Wasn’t Gray offered late in the process after whiffing on higher rated recruits?  
 

And the Green brothers offered hoping to get more kids out of the DFW area, specifically DeSoto.  

Gemon Green is a legit good player in his second game starting. You're just mad, but that dude is a player. Gray on the other hand should never see the field again. 

I hear you Thad and agree but what I said is true too.

I was yelling at my TV during the game for stupid Brown to take Gray out, all while pissing off my GF.

Gemon Green isn't great, but at least he has tools.

Sad but true.  We are not Alabama and depth at CB is an issue.  Ambry opting out really hurt us as no one has been developed enough to replace his early departure.  Folks !!! ... this is our issue and everyone else's except the top 3-4 programs. 

But 80% of this board was convinced Gray was gonna be a real player for us this year. I'm sure a lot of them are the same ones exploding in anger now.

However in 2021, Michigan has Washington, @wisc, @MSU, @PSU, and OSU. Hell, they even need to go to Nebraska. That is a possible 7-5 season

Agree. Harbaugh won’t be fired, but Warde can privately encourage him to take an NFL job. 
 

I have 0 likely replacement coaches, so I hope it doesn’t happen yet. 

I completely agree. Harbaugh isn’t going anywhere. He will be the coach here until he decides he doesn’t want to do it anymore.  I’m okay with it because his name still carries some weight. He needs to fill his staff with relentless recruiters. Get some young guys who are hungry and willing to work 24/7/365 at recruiting. Jim doesn’t have to be the guy climbing trees and having sleepovers. He just needs to walk into a living room every now and then to finalize a commitment. 
 

Michigan has the facilities, tradition, and alumni base to make this an elite place to spend 3-5 years as a college player. I don’t care if they are the best coach, just as long as they can recruit the best players. I doubt Ryan Day or Dabo know half as much about football as Harbaugh, but they win because they have better players. That can change and Harbaugh can be the coach that gets them to that level, but he needs to surround himself with great recruiters.

The trajectory of this program doesn’t lend itself to 8-4/ 9-3. The team has gotten worse with Harbaugh recruits and the transfer portal has allowed so many with talent to leave, if they didn’t already declare early.  We are not at rock bottom, yet.  We are on the path to being Purdue, sans the win over OSU.    Harbaugh lost the locker room at least two years ago.  

Maybe not but if Harbaugh does leave in the next year or so I think yesterday's game may be the critical tipping point. The press had several articles basically saying he's hit his limit here and the fan base is really starting to turn against him. Not sure what's going to happen but if it doesn't change soon it's going to get ugly especially if there's another OSU blowout.  

I think he’s going to have to clean house on the defensive coaching staff to save his job. Only person that can stay is Jean Mary. Is Nua bad or does he not have the right parts? Idk and I don’t care anymore. He’s not an obvious asset. Brown obviously has to go. He isn’t calling the plays like he did at BC and year 1. Apparently Shoop already left. And Zordich I guess he’s a good teacher, but I get the feeling he rubs guys the wrong way and doesn’t recruit hard enough. Sims transferred and Lewis has thrown shade at the coaches since being drafted. Hill and Long both seemed to dislike him as well. I think it’s time for a change.

If season ticket sales continue to decline, it will force some tough decisions in the AD.

The whole fucking program is in a submarine.  They do whatever the hell they want and answer to nobody.  Zero transparency with the boosters and fans that are heavily invested, both monetarily and emotionally, in Michigan's success.

I feel like if it was Covid related we would've heard about him opting out
