Went there for undergrad. They were pretty bad in football while I was there (much better now!) and they've never been good in basketball. But I love 'em just the same.

I've never been a big pumpkin beer fan, BUT...
Wolverine State Brewing's version, called Cucurbita Smiles, is so delicious that I brought growlers of it to two different tailgates last year. Super tasty, crisp and clean, not too sweet.

I knew it was a longshot anyway, but I've always thought it would be really cool if a player from my high school in my tiny hometown wound up at Michigan. Even cooler when it's someone who has the same first name as me. Just not meant to be. Sigh.
Happy trails, J Smith. Best of luck to you at UNC.

Exeunt can be used anywhere in a play to indicate that two or more actors leave the stage.

Will never forget that moment as long as I live. Great satisfaction in sending Lou Holtz home with a loss. Those were the days.

I ordered mine about the same time I paid for my season tix renewal. I never did get a confirmation email. I went back in to the site, as if I was going to place the order again, and got a message saying something like either my seats weren't in the inventory or they had already been ordered. I do have my credit card bill showing the charge went through, so hopefully it's all good.

My favorite local beer. Was there last night. Drank way too much (for a weeknight anyway). The pulled-pork nachos are not to be missed.

YES. I hate neutral site games. They mostly exist so that some other third party like Jerry Jones can make a pile of money while depriving the would-be home team's town of an entire weekend of economic activity, not to mention most of its fans of seeing a home game.
Thank you, Jim Hackett.

Spent the evening at Bill's Beer Garden... the best thing to happen to downtown Ann Arbor in years. Dragonmead (Warren, MI) Final Absolution. If you don't know this one, it's a Belgian-style Trippel at 10% ABV. I'm afraid I had four of them. The end.

I wondered that, too... but no. Seems they actually played a 13-game schedule. For some reason, I thought the NCAA limited it to 12? Or am I missing something here?

a) Hippie Hash at Fleetwood (I prefer the meaty version).
b) Blimpy Burger (quad/regular, cheddar, pepp/mush, must/ketch/pick)
c) both a and b.... which is real easy now that these two are next door to one another

In case you didn't know, Le Dog on Liberty closed last year. I believe the Main St location still exists, although I've never been to it. It just seems like it wouldn't be the same as that ol' hole-in-the-wall red stand on Liberty.

I'm glad the legends jerseys are gone.
Honoring past legends was the great part of that idea. Using current players to do so was the bad part.

Good programs have down years, whether it be due to recruiting, attrition, injuries, or just not being very good. Just two years ago, Kentucky went to the NIT and lost in the first round to Robert Morris U. They are now 34-0, and a near lock to cut down the nets in Indy in a couple weeks.
This season was disappointing, but not embarrassing. The team did what it could with what it had. I'm proud of 'em. Next year will be better. Way better.

I went over to Founders in GR last week (to pick up my KBS...woo!!) and had their Nitro T8R (as in 'tater'...made with potato flakes) Stout. My buddy had their Nitro Oatmeal Stout. I liked his a little better than mine, but both were tasty.

Hopefully under Hackett, night games will simply be night games and nothing more. No OMG-WE-HAVE--LIGHTS-NOW-SO-LETS-GET-UNIFORMZ-AND-SPECIAL-SHIRTS-AND-FIREWORKS-WOOOOO!!!!!!!!
Seriously. It was notable the first time. But any over-hyped hoopla at this point just makes us look like fools.

Casey's opened the year I moved to A2. For many years, I would put their burgers up against anyone's anywhere. For me, it was about the high-quality beef, which I wasn't afraid to order how I really like it... bloody rare.
After moving to another part of the area, I didn't get back there very much. I finally went back... I'm gonna say this is about 5 or 6 years or so ago now... and the beef on their burgers tasted like they had added a filler. Just tasted like some sort of grain. I gave 'em the benefit of the doubt and went back a second time not too long (maybe a month or so?) after that.... same, grainy taste. Haven't been back since.

Mighty Good Coffee.... it is what it is, literally! Mighty good! Of the various choices I have that are walkable from my office, MGC is the farthest. But sometimes I just have to say screw it and take the extra time anyway. And Lord knows I can use the extra exercise. Congrats on the new location!
|27 weeks 6 days ago||What a great read. It's nice||
What a great read. It's nice to see all this in one place, so to speak. I've had people not tied to Michigan in any way ask me why Brandon was fired. I can usually come up with a handful of reasons... but now the whole of it is right here. Thanks!
I'll disagree with one thing, and state an opinion I've long held about the 2007 Appalachian State game. I won't refer to it as "The Horror" because, frankly for me, it wasn't the "worst feeling any Michigan fan has ever had about a game." App State had just come off back-to-back national championships in the division right below ours. They would go on to win a third consecutive title that season. They were a formidable opponent, and the only reason this was such an embarrassment to us was because of the great story it made on SportsCenter until it finally died down. In reality, a better-prepared team with a championship mentality beat us that day. Simple as that. I will, of course, agree with the larger context in which this game was brought up... that Dave Brandon was a complete dumbass for scheduling a re-match.
No, the low point for me was the loss against Toledo the following year. Coaching transition blah-blah-blah new offensive blah-blah. Whatever. This was a bottom dwelling MAC team that would only win 2 more times that year against Miami (NTM, 2-10) and EMU (3-9).
