Rose Bowl Parking Advice

Submitted by HenneGivenSunday on December 29th, 2023 at 10:21 AM

Starting this thread as we are closer to the day.  I’m headed to the Rose Bowl for the first time, and I bought a parking pass ahead at the golf course, but I’m rethinking it a little based on some scattered feedback I’ve seen about getting OUT of there after the game.  I’m taking the red eye out of LAX at 10, and I’m concerned that we won’t make it.  We also are going to the Alumni tailgate so tailgating space isn’t an issue.

2 questions:

1). Should I be concerned about making my 10pm flight?  Game should be over about 6pm pst.

2). Should I cancel the parking pass and go elsewhere?

Thanks in advance, and can’t wait to hang with all of you fine Wolverines!

Went in 97 and time and drinks may have altered my recollection but getting into and out of the valley is not very easy if I remember.

I would not be feeling super confident on making your flight.

They serve beers at the stadium btw.

DD, I am never feeling very confident about anything.. lol.  Thanks for the response.  Buddy and I are both TSA Pre, but I bet we will be running.  Wondering if parking elsewhere and walking would be a better bet.  We are both in decent shape.  Have just heard that it’s worse than the golf course at UofM to get out of there.

Based on the "research" I have been doing, it seems like the best strategy is to park a mile or two away from the stadium.  The walk will take 30 - 50 minutes each way unless you use the shuttle from the Parson lot, but the walk will save about 1-1.5 hours waiting for traffic to clear.

Assuming the game is over by 6/6:15, you should get out of the stadium after watching Michigan celebrate, at about 7/7:15.  Then, in your car by 8:00 and heavy traffic to LAX is another 1 to 1.5 hours.

It's going to be close, but feasible depending on where you rent your car.

I'm not sure how it compares to other CFP Semifnals, but last year's game against TCU was 4 hours and 55 minutes - much longer than the typical CFB game.

I have similarly heard that leaving the golf course is a disaster - 1-2 hours.

Pasadena is a mess of autos on January 1. Remember there’s a parade in the morning that draws a massive crowd. Those attendees are fighting for the same parking spots those going to the game are. Unless one is planning to have a parking spot secured offsite by 6am, I’m not certain parking offsite is viable. But, if you’re staying nearby then you could walk from the hotel, return to the car, and likely make your flight. Keep in mind, once the parade starts, traffic and parking options go sideways until about an hour before kickoff and that’s assuming all goes well. Good luck and GO BLUE!!!

Can’t you get an a.m. flight on 2nd?…would definitely make the game more enjoyable.  The Rose Bowl parking is the absolute worst parking I have ever experienced at any sporting venue in the country…which is why we are having a Rose Bowl Party.

After reading many comments from a variety of sources, it sounds like getting out of the golf course parking lot post-game is an absolute horror.  I'm going to the parade, so I opted for the all-day parking pass at Parsons ($110). Will take shuttle to the game, then walk back. Good luck!

Park in Old Town Pasadena somewhere near the Parsons Building or anywhere you can find a space so go early.  Take the shuttle down to the Rosebowl or walk.  Then shuttle back or walk to Old Town Pasadena and take the most efficient Highway thru DTLA to Lax   Then you won’t be stuck in parking at the Rosebowl.
