ECU @ Michigan --- Noon ET Kick, Peacock TV
Yet another streaming service, yet another way they're trying to get $$$ out of Sports fans.

Thanks. I manage to screw that up every time. :-)
I am out for game one. This will be the first Michigan game I have missed in over 40 years. Suddenly not getting BTN seems doable. If I am going to already miss one, maybe it will be two or three. How long until I am okay missing all 12? That will be the question.
There'll be links somewhere to watch it on the internet.
What an absolute pile of steaming trash for most fans. "Somewhere to watch it" just sounds like a horrible plan. Not giving you grief EC just to bad its come to this.
People are going to have to make serious decisions soon about what sports to keep, especially with regard to professional baseball, basketball, and hockey, once regional sports networks are entirely dissolved and the teams themselves are controlling broadcast rights via individual stream.
Lovely how streaming services were introduced to the argument of being a cheaper alternative to cable. Now that everyone knows how to capitalize on their own service, it will soon be more expensive than the big cable bill ever was to be able to watch all of the same stuff.
I believe the Notre Dame games that have been exclusively on Peacock were free. I'm not sure about this Big Ten contract though. Either way, I'll pay $4.99 for a month of Peacock to watch one Michigan game. It's annoying but not a huge deal.
i saw that Comcast/Xfinity will no longer offer free Peacock effedtive June 26th (iirc). Now I know why.
Super annoying. I'm an Xfinity cable and internet subscriber. My service just lost a little more value.
I saw that too, but Peacock is offering a deal right now of $19.99 for a full year, not sure how long the offer will last, but guessing it's tied somewhat to the Comcast deal ending.
edit: offer expires on June 12th
- Peacock Premium Update: Current Peacock Premium customers who subscribe to our Gig-speed internet packages will continue to receive Peacock Premium at no cost for two years, through June 25, 2025. Activation of Peacock through xfinity.com may be required. Xfinity Rewards Diamond and Platinum members can receive Peacock Premium at no cost upon redemption.
This is from my Xfinity statement.
Peacock gives free trials. Chill. Good lord.
I mean it's kind of a pain in the ass. What other games are going to be exclusively on Peacock? I'd like to just be able to turn on the TV and watch. I'm not even that old, but's just annoying.
Peacock has 8 or 9 exclusive Big Ten games per year in the new contract. Only three have been announced so far:
Week 1: ECU-Michigan
Week 2: Delaware-PSU
Week 3: Washington-MSU
I would expect at least one Michigan football game is going to land on Peacock every year during this contract moving forward. It's possible when USC and UCLA are added that this gets less likely, but I would guess Peacock will strive to get one game of each of the traditional blue bloods every year to juice their subscriber numbers.
The bigger deal that most fans have overlooked is the impact the new deal is going to have on men's college basketball with no ESPN. Peacock is going to be carrying around 40-50 exclusive Big Ten basketball games every year. You are going to need FS1, Peacock, and BTN to watch a bulk of the Big Ten basketball games, especially the weekday games when OTA carriage will be unlikely.
Hunter and admissions make this mess a lot less painful to pass on.
The last thing we need any more of in my house is 'cock.
- My Wife, as far as you know
Agreed. Not that its anyone elses fault but I live in the country and can't stream anything anyway. Most of us pay $50-150 a month for some type of TV service. Out of 1000 channels they couldnt find a station that majority of us already have? Years ago I upgraded to Big 10 network just to watch Michigan play a few games. Its all about the money.
Commentated by Kevin Costner and the cast of Yellowstone.
If Beth Dalton is a commentator, I’m out… stopped watching the show bc that character is so awful.
Makes me wonder if that’s how Kelly Reilly decided to play her, or if it’s the director’s vision of the character or the writers. Regardless, I’m not a fan (other than that bath scene…)
I sorta love her, totally my type. Probably why I'm single at age 44...
She is a cartoon character much like like Rip but much much more. Her speeches and dialogue we just start cracking up like its watching bugs bunny. If that was a male character with those lines they would burn the studio down. Yellowstone is my favorite comedy on tv right now.
I’d pay for Costner. Otherwise I won’t be watching the first game I guess.
Oh hey, terrific. The first game on a new platform against a small school from North Carolina. What could possibly go wrong there?
Technically, not Peacock's first CFB game. ND has had a few games there before (including a near-loss to Toledo, in what I think was Peacock's first game).
Michigan is safe!
One slight difference in that Peacock launched in 2020. BTN launched just days before that game in 2007. But outside of that, none of this is good at all.
Too soon!
Wouldn't call ECU a small school. Enrollment is about 29,000. Stadium holds 51,000.
More like poppycock... amiright?
Well that's annoying.
It looks like Peacock is $4.99 per month and cancel anytime (I think?) so shell out $5 to see a game that should be even less competitive than a Michigan 1st vs. 2nd stringers scrimmage would be?
I get that it's just $5, but I don't foresee myself watching that one.
Its a bar game now.
Many bars don't have streaming. For cable TV, the bars pay based on capacity. From what I've heard, the streaming companies don't have anything setup to allow companies to rebroadcast for a profit, so bars aren't allowed to air those channels.
Sorry I've very poorly explained it. Just confirm with your preferred venue that they are actually allowed to show the game.
Attention all bar owners, for a small fee, I'll assist you with how to hook up an HDMI cable from your laptop to a TV. Then, for just a little extra, I'll show you how to use the Apps on your TV.
Drop $50 paying bar prices, or pay the $5 for Peacock, buy a six pack, and save $35 bucks. Hmm.
Only $5 and I can delay YTTV for at least a week. Works for me
Someone will be streaming it on YouTube……someone did the whole Michigan/Hawaii game last year without the feed getting cut
Nearly 4 million people watched Michigan's opener last year. How many will this year?
109,317
I will be one of those. Looks like we could be going back to the days of radio.
"Two tight ends and a balanced line, it's JJ in the shotgun with Corum on his right "
The late great Bob Ufer calling the game from football's Valhalla.....
Peacock and YouTubeTV/HuluLive for three months isn’t too bad. Perhaps less.
I have Xfinity’s internet which gives me access to Fox and CBS. I believe I can still stream BTN games on Fox. So I may not need YouTubeTV or Hulu at all.
You may be right, but it's my understanding that in order to watch BTN via the FOX app, you need to be subscribed to a cable/streaming package that carries it.
God, cord-cutting is such a fucking scam.
Yeah, it kinda is. But I also think that what's happening here is that the people who make money off of sports are progressively pushing the boundary of "when will the fans just get up and walk away?" So far, we haven't, because we're basically addicts and we'll do anything or pay anything to watch Michigan sports. (or the NFL, NBA, etc if that's your thing). Taking all of sports broadcasting it and fragmenting it into pieces that you have to pay for individually, on top of the $200/mo that you already pay for DirecTV and whatever you pay for internet is the latest step. The results of this money grubbing strategy are going to become very clear as us older addicts die off and the younger generations that grew up with a larger variety of entertainment won't even be slightly interested.
At any rate, B1G games ending up on Peacock is epic fail by the conference. Job #1 in a TV contract is making sure that your games are actually on fucking television. Kevin Warren's legacy is ensuring that B1G sports fans now have to pay for a Peacock subscription if they want to see all of the games -- that's on top of everything else that you pay, which is already a huge number.
You think that's bad? Washington-MSU is going to be on Peacock too. LOL
DUDE that's actually....terrible. Like, that's a high profile OOC game. Damn, Big Ten. Damn.
This is such bullshit, how did NBC fuck this up so badly. You're putting Purdue-Syracuse on national TV but relegating Michigan and your only big-name brand vs. big-name brand matchup to streaming??
Holy shit, we were promised this would never happen to us, that the Peacock games would be Rutgers-Northwestern. I suddenly hate the new TV deal. NBC is incompetent.
Edit: As it turns out, Rutgers-Northwestern is being played the same day, and will be nationally televised at noon. Absolutely fucking unacceptable
Kevin Warren sends his regards. Makes you long for that other guy we all complained about so much. What was his name again?🤔
Shoot...I'll remember in a moment....
He was that comedian/masturbator guy, right?
