As a Dolphins fan I can understand the move, but absolutely do not agree with it.  Before the season started Sparano was adamant that Henne would get the entire season to show what he could do.  The fact that he said it "isn't an indictment on Henne's future" just makes it worse.  I don't know how they expect him to have any confidence going forward.  All that said, the Dolphins' offense has been vastly underachieving, and hopefully Pennington can provide a spark.

I don't think I would put this on Chad. I think he's done pretty well. Yes, he's shown his young moments before, but how about the lack of a running game they've had? Ricky and Ronnie haven't been too good.

Every game I've watched, the receivers have been straight up dropping balls that would be classified as a "3" on the UFR receiverchart.  That said, I like Pennington when he can stay healthy and Chad has, unfortunately, made a number of mistakes too.

It's hard not to like Pennington though:

Chad juke.

8 tds vs. 10 ints.  You call that good?  I'm all about supporting Henne (and any other former Michigan player in the NFL, particually those playing for the team I follow...the Dolphins), but even Maize tinted glasses can't hide the stink coming off of those numbers.  The offense has been anemic this year.

is the most disrespected consistent QB in history. Every place he has been had a GM trying to upgrade over him to no avail.   All he does is be efficient and sufficient.  He is the Thomas Jones of QB's

Sucks for Chad but he has been going downhill lately.

is reportedly to start against the Bills.  Apparently, he's healthy enough to start and he was seen wearing uni last sunday against the Jets.  Better Hill than Stanton.  I do not want to see Stanton trying to play QB against a starting NFL defense.  He made a stupid mistake of not taking the sack when the play isn't there at the end of the Jets game.

Having caught a couple of these Miami games on TV, Henne doesn't look like a world-beater or anything, but this team's struggles go far beyond the QB position.  They are 16th in rushing and have played arguably the toughest schedule so far this season.  Outside of playing Buffalo to start the season, they have played @ Minny, home to the Jets and Pats, @ GB, home to Pitt, then @ Cincy and @ Baltimore.  That is a really tough schedule, and to be 4-4 with a much easier 8 games coming up is pretty good IME.

How about instead of benching him, you stop calling a Wildcat play after he completes 5 passes in a row and totally F with his rhythm.   The Dolphins could easily be 6-2 right now, and the defense hasn't been helping.  I've watched 4 Dolphins games this year because I'm a closet Phins fan for obvious reasons (Henne, Long), and the play calling is absolutely horrendous.  They are horrible in the red zone this season because Henne will drive them down the field and then 2 wildcat plays will murder the drive.  The kid hasn't even started 2 full seasons yet.

Henne is an amazing QB and capable of doing so much more for the Dolphins but the Wildcat kills his potential.  He has possibly one of the top 5 strongest arms in the NFL and should be consistently hooking up with Marshall downfield for TDs but when you've got the D on their heels and you're taken out of the game, what do you expect to happen?

I highly doubt this is the last we will see of Chad Henne in a starting role in the NFL, or even this season. Pennington will need to show right away that Sparano made the right decision. This could have backfire written all over it.

Yeah, this isn't a good career development, but he'll get a chance to bounce back either this season or next.    Pennington isn't the long-term solution in Miami and I find it hard to believe that they would give up on Henne after he's only started 20 games in his career.  He'll get a chance to take a breath, sit and watch the game and then get back into the game.

I'm pretty disappointed about the move. But the thing is is that with Henning's playing calling, Pennington is better suited with the offense. Henning just will not take a shot downfield, and that negetes the arm strenght Henne has over Pennington.

yeah, i've really tried to get behind the dolphins the last few years, but my god, their offensive play-calling makes Mike DeBord look like a genius. I can't believe they didn't grab Randy Moss off waivers. Of course, it makes sense, because they do not know how to properly employ big time players right now.

That team is going nowhere. Pennington might get them to a wildcard spot, but they do not have the balls to win big games. That coaching staff is so fucking conservative.

I'd love to see him in Denver or Kansas City's offense. But he is totally being misused down in Miami.

As a Jets fan, I was bummed when the Jets traded up for Sanchez...I wished they would have waited and snagged Henne instead. The Jets have a much better supporting cast all around, but all else being equal, I'd be curious what we would like like with Henne instead of Sanchez. Having seen Robot Henne (initiate nailcoed.exe, hah!) for every game he ever played for Michigan, I have faith that he will succeed.
