I wonder what's up with Orji…

I wonder what's up with Orji - we saw 4 QBs and he wasn't any of them. He also wasn't on an injury list or anything.

I was surprised that there…

I was surprised that there was no mention of Bowsette in the post, given how topical it is.

Poop

This

I'm seriously worried that Dave Brandon will keep his job despite his obvious incompetence.

Megaphone guy

The megaphone guy was Craig Kaplan, a senior studying energy policy at the George R Ford School of Public policy.  In one of the interviews on the Michigan Daily livestream after he started talking, one of the interviewers asked him who he was.

GRIII's vertical

That vertical reach for GRIII is only 3 inches below Dwight Howard's, which is the highest ever recorded in the NBA (12"6').

bucket list

sounds like it has better be the LAST thing on your bucket list

game

clearly you should pick strip poker for the game

comparison

True, however only 12/20 number one picks in the same time frame have been to an all star game. Nothing is guaranteed.

keyword today

I think that the keyword there was "today", as in "it's not just about the tv dollars right now, but where they will be due to population growth"

From the second video

not sure....

I can't comment on the Bulls, as I was too young. But blatantly inconsistent standards of reffing drive people to conspiracy theories of fixation because the alternative is incompetence....

lmfao at his school leaking it

Posting it too early...

help

gotcha. So I'm curious then, is there anything that those of us in Michigan can do to help out with this?

hmm

With glacier, don't you have to not be frequently accessing the data?
Also, if you host in the US, you may have to worry about dmca complaints.
That said, I'm intrigued and would like to learn more and possibly help... but I'm located in Michigan.

EECS kids, get to work!

Get some macros running to even this fight!

SPARTY NO

SPARTY NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Quote of the game on MSU

"They're one stop away from being bowl eligible for a school record six consecutive years"

Agreed :(

Sparty could have iced the game with the pick six that was called back.  What a Sparty, No! moment

I think the refs were right on both calls

Unfortunately, I think the refs ended up with both of the calls correct.

On the Roundtree play, the ball definitely seems to hit the ground and shift a pretty decent amount.  I think that's clearer of an incompletion than the Virginia Tech play last year (which I think the refs ended up being right on there too).

On the Smith interception, I think however it was called on the field would stand.  The way I'm thinking it worked (without the ball hitting the ground) was that basically the ball got squished between his hands and chest and then sprung out of there.

On a brighter note, on the "maybe don't block Roh with a RB next time"... they may as well have not blocked him on that play.  Holy shit that's impressive.

Ditto

I have seen numerous places report that.

Triple Option

For all that we're always saying "Michigan won't have to face another triple option team like Air Force this year"... wouldn't you go heavily triple option against Michigan if you're Nebraska?  I mean, if I was their offensive coordinator, I'd look at Michigan's performance against Air Force and say "we have better players than Air Force. Imagine what we can do" and focus heavily on that.

Am I just missing something?

NCAA Rules

Only thing I could see in NCAA rules that was related to this was:

Rule 9-2, Article 1, subsection a-2-b-5  (I have no idea if that's how it actually would be designated, but that's what it looks like to me)

PENALTY—Dead-ball foul. 15 yards from the succeeding spot [S7 and S27].

Automatic first down for fouls by Team B if not in conflict with

other rules. Flagrant offenders, if players or substitutes, shall

be disqualified [S47].

5. Persons subject to the rules, including bands, shall not create any noise

that prohibits a team from hearing its signals (Rule 1-1-6).

And rule 1-1-6 specifies who is subject to the rules:

Persons Subject to the Rules

ARTICLE 6. a. All persons subject to the rules are governed by the decisions

of the officials.

b. Those persons subject to the rules are: Everyone in the team area, players,

substitutes, replaced players, coaches, athletics trainers, cheerleaders, band

members, mascots, public-address announcers, audio and video system

operators
, and other persons affiliated with the teams or institutions.

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

Hell of an end to the game!

Not a problem

He said without a gambling PROBLEM. He doesn't have a problem, he can stop anytime he wants to. Really. Trust him.

Al "Tsoukalos" Borges

As great as the "aliens" version of that image is, I prefer this one:

Reddit

Someone with an active reddit account should post this to /r/uofm and /r/Assistance

Yes.

Yes to both. I think we will be able to pass better against ND than MSU but may not have as good of a defensive performance. Whether that passing will be enough for a win.... who knows?

And for MSU, this made me a little less scared of them, but still worried about them for sure.

Horrible situation

Man, you wouldn't wish this on anyone.  Best wishes to him, and I hope the unconfirmed reports about his grandmother are wrong.

Eastern Michigan Emus

Seriously though, why aren't they the EMU emus?

From St Joe

Rob Fredrickson played in the NFL, and Mike Gillette was a kicker for Michigan (is #3 on the most field goals made at UM, hit at least one game winner and also hit a 56 yarder)

Defense seem surprisingly upbeat

The Jake Ryan, Kovacs, and Hoke all seemed to brush off the defense's performance as being very largely an artifact of facing Air Force.  I was surprised by that.

Only one win over an autoqualifier

They only had one other win over a BCS autoqualifier, and that was Alabama in 2007, when Bama went 7-6.

Pretty sure they were illegal

I was one of the people yelling about it throughout the game.  I know on at least 2 of the TDs, one of our players who would have had a shot at being in position to stop the TD, they were cut below the waist and it definitely didn't look straight on.

Illegal downfield cutblocks

As I kept spamming on twitter and posting about in the liveblog -- Air Force looked like they were illegally blocking our downfield defenders on most all plays -- as of this year, receivers are no longer allowed to block below the waist, and Air Force did that extensively.

4th and really long

Wasn't it something like 4th and 18 this time, though?  That's more understandable.

This!

Those M Rising hoodies look awesome.  I also kind of want the football heart shirt.

And really now -- I think we can get behind this and easily help Odoms hit his goal.

Wow

That is fantastic.  I kinda want to actually try to carve this, even though I have no artistic talent.

You're looking at this wrong

Brian, you're misunderstanding what happened here.  We didn't play and lose a game against a college football team.  Dave Brandon decided we should forfeit our first game so we would get a chance to play a preseason NFL game. Who we put up 14 points on.

NFL Team

Looking at that Bama team, most of them will probably be first or second round NFL draft picks. We were practically playing a bad NFL team.  Although this was an ugly, ugly loss, where practically everything that went wrong could... there were still lots of positives that make me optimistic about the team.

Big 12-->SEC

They were Big 12 refs.  They must have thought they moved to the SEC with Mizzou and TAMU.

To be fair...

Beating an overrated ND team when ND is the favorite is a common thing nowadays

DEHRNERD

Also, Make the world Michigan

I really like the Make the World Michigan shirt, although I feel like there is some sort of a pun that is missing from that which could make it better -- don't know what it is.  Something to do with the "again"-like sound at the end of Michigan...

I'm too tired to come up with anything clever.

Upton...

I feel like the Kate Upton ones would just invite a lawsuit.

New account

Or they could even create a new account just for it. It'd be a little bit of a pain switching back and forth, but doable.

justin.tv stream

I think that is a great idea.  UStream or LiveStream would also work.  CBox might be worth looking into as well -- for $2/month, the premium option is awfully inexpensive.

Oddly enough

That includes Mississippi.

I would buy that so fast

If Moe's started selling block M twin city socks, I'd buy a ton of them.  Probably replace my all of my socks I currently have.

Action Comics 775

Read Action Comics Issue 775: What's so Funny about Truth, Justice, and the American Way? for a really good Superman story that shows you some of his internal conflict.

I also really liked Red Son, an alternate universe situation where Superman lands in the USSR instead of the USA.

All Star Superman and For the Man Who Has Everything are also both excellent.
