Hope For Pahokee Kickstarter (Odoms - #eating)

Odoms has started a kickstarter to try and get money for a garden in Pahokee Florida. They've gone well beyond just the #EATING shirts and have all sorts of new stuff that you can get for donating. There's a video in it of Odoms himself talking about the project. I tried to embed but the code isn't working.

It must have just started today because they have $0 donated. But if you wish to donate some money and get a T-shirt, or laser tag with Odoms?, then you can donate some money. They have a pretty big goal of $35,000. Just thought I'd share since it's a project for a former, and loved, Michigan player.

This is what being a Michigan fan is all about! So let's provide a little incentive for MGoWorld. How about we make donations under our MGoBlog names and 1 point is awarded for each dollar given. I bet we could hit $35,000 by the ND game. Let's do it for Pahokee and billy goats everywhere!

I wish every community had a young man that was this committed to making a change for the better. Feed your neighborhood with food from its own soil. America would never be the same.

That's a really cool kickstarter, I will definitely contribute once I pick what I want (lots of cool options).  The personalized thank you card is awesome (and probably very profitable).

How fast did we get $20,000 for Brian and HTTV Magazine?  One day?  We can definitely do this and it's for a better cause.  I think this should be on the front page like the HTTV kickstarter was.

How about this? We set up a swear jar for the liveblogs. Each curse word is assigned a dollar amount and donated to Hope For Pahokee. Then next year we start another drive to end the obesity epidemic we created down there...

If I still lived in AA (or close by) I promise I could find 11 guys who would pay 120 bucks to go play laser tag with Odoms one weekend.  Have it be for somebody's birthday or something.

Yeah, you don't it because it's a bargain, you do it because it's for charity and it's with a Michigan football player.  And I meant paint ball, not that it makes a big difference.

I played paintball a handful of weekends ago and it was about 50 bucks.  None of my money went to charity, and it wasn't with Martavious Odoms.  I'm not saying everyone I know would sign up, but get a fraternity with 80-100 guys, and I bet you find 12 of them who want to do it.

...Hope For Pahokee is backed. Great Kickstarter idea and an awesome cause - great to see a former player and alum giving back to his community,  taking what he learned here back there. Good luck and "Go Blue" to Odoms and Pahokee!

I just donated 25$. Thats pretty good for a grad student, but the cause is definitly worth it. Its great to see a young guy like Odoms become such a leader and role model within his communitee.

The nice thing is that I see on there that Tae Odoms has 3248 facebook friends.  I hope he pushed them to donate, because if he even gets half of them to, he's there (assuming they donate an average of about 20 bucks).

I'm not going to tweet at a recruit, however would it be appropriate for someone to ask Morris to retweet this cause? feel like he has a lot of michigan followers and it could help.

Just donated.  So glad to see him working on this and the Michigan community supporting it.  I really hope it takes off.  Odoms is a credit to the University and the football program.

Watch your email post 26 Sept.  If this gets funded you'll get a survey to fill out regarding your size, color, etc.  If this doesn't get funded, then you aren't charged anything.

A lot of people on Kickstarter seem to miss that followup email and then never get their swag since they never said what they wanted.  It's kind of a dumb system, but is how KS works.

Does anyone know if you can donate multiple times?  I really want the postcart but also a few t-shirts.

Posted this to my facebook.  Really hope my M friends will donate, or really anyone in general.  This is a great cause.
