2011 football bold predictions
Ok guys this is a thread I have wanted to start after NSD (and before spring ball just to make some of us look stupid). Lets do a bold predictions thread for the upcoming season. Just to add some format, how about we do one bold prediction about the offense, one bold prediction about the defense, and one bold prediction about for the upcoming freshman class. I'll start with mine
1. Offense- Fitzgerald Toussaint and Stephen Hopkins will run for a combined 1500 yards.
2. Defense- The defense will be ranked somewhere between 50 and 60 in yards per game.
3. Freshman class- Chris Barnett make the biggest impact outside of anyone on special teams next season (not the boldest prediction, I know).
February 4th, 2011 at 1:36 PM ^
Offense: Denard Passes for 3000 and rushes for 1000
Defense: Mattison
Freshmen Class: Thomas Rawls pulls a gun on every defense he faces and murders Lawrence Thomas
February 4th, 2011 at 1:59 PM ^
Wow. I was with you on 1 & 2 but you took it to a whole other level with 3.
February 4th, 2011 at 2:32 PM ^
Whoa! Aren't you only 13 or something? My mother wouldn't let me near games like Doom and Wolfenstein 3D at that age! The only murdering I knew related to those ducks in Duck Hunt. And that fucking dog.
February 4th, 2011 at 2:34 PM ^
My mother didn't let me play video games as a kid. I used to get real worked up whenever my oxen died trying to ford the river...

And that's why God created this website: http://www.virtualapple.org/oregontraildisk.html
So you can relive those memories.
February 5th, 2011 at 12:09 AM ^
Simply awesome.
February 4th, 2011 at 2:34 PM ^
we will feel that any success Denard has running the ball will be in spite of the coaching staff, not because of it.
February 4th, 2011 at 1:37 PM ^
It's going to be a predictably looooooooooooooong offseason, full of predictable threads predicting who'll be the most predictable in their predictions.
February 4th, 2011 at 3:58 PM ^
I predict you are correct. I also predict that there will be 20 would you rather beat MSU, ND, and OSU and lose the rest of the games or go 9-3 and lose to those teams threads.
February 4th, 2011 at 11:47 PM ^
Those threads are the WORST!!!!!
I predict we will go 9-3 and lose our bowl game to a good opponent.
February 4th, 2011 at 1:38 PM ^
Offence: Chris Barnett becomes Denard's top redzone target and gets at least 5 TD's.
Defence: Secondary is moderately competent. Not great, but competent.
Freshman: Wile makes 75% of his FG attempts.
February 4th, 2011 at 1:47 PM ^
ONLY 5?!?! Nonsense! Didn't you hear his radio interview? "When I get the ball, I'm wanna hurt you." Kid is gonna have eleventy billion TD's with that attitude. Book it.
EDIT: I noticed you wrote "at least 5", so it's all good.
February 4th, 2011 at 1:48 PM ^
If our defense doesn't improve from last year, that still may not be enough.
February 4th, 2011 at 3:00 PM ^
If that was the actual quote I predict English will be the first class Brady makes him enroll in.
February 4th, 2011 at 3:18 PM ^
February 4th, 2011 at 4:26 PM ^
Denard is Denard's top Red Zone target.
February 4th, 2011 at 1:40 PM ^
1. Offense - we run an air raid offense after Leach is hired as an OC (yes Borges is fired after spring ball)
<br>2. Defense - Mike Martin ends up our starting SS and is all conference
<br>3. Freshman - Bellomy is our leading rusher and passer.
<br>
<br>BKFinest it.
February 4th, 2011 at 2:08 PM ^
I can believe in!!!
February 4th, 2011 at 1:42 PM ^
Offense: Denard wins the Heisman
Defense: Mike Martin wins the Heisman
Freshman: Matt Wile wins the Heisman
February 4th, 2011 at 1:44 PM ^
Offense: New scheme resurrects Kevin Koger and Brandon Moore also emerges. They combine for 55 catches, 700 yards and 10+ tds. Chris Barnett will also record a touchdown
Defense: Most chicks named Mallory are hot, therefore I predict that our new secondary coach and Mattison re-vamp our secondary by allowing them to not play 15 yards off the line of scrimmage. JT Floyd and T-Wolf both have strong years coming off injury.
Freshman Class: Blake Countess records two INTs
February 4th, 2011 at 2:19 PM ^
I totally agree with your defensive prediction. I would fuck the shit out of our hot defense.
February 4th, 2011 at 1:46 PM ^
Will flare during losing stretches.
February 4th, 2011 at 1:49 PM ^
Who said we will have losing stretches?
/blind optimism
I'm really not looking forward to this prediction
February 4th, 2011 at 2:05 PM ^
I agree. After the sanctions, we stood to lose (and did) stretching time. However, I think losing stretches and stretching time will be less significant and important to the fanbase than you seem to suggest.
February 4th, 2011 at 1:48 PM ^
Offense: Stonum ends up as a Biletnikov (best WR) finalist. After watching some of SDSU's offensive highlights, I really think Darryl is going to have a huge year.
February 4th, 2011 at 2:03 PM ^
Bilentnikov...best football player to ever come out of Poland. No question about it.
February 4th, 2011 at 2:14 PM ^
Eh, I think you're confusing Bilentnikow, with his cousin, Bilentnikov, from Vladivostok. A common mistake, since they both went to high school in Germany.
February 4th, 2011 at 2:16 PM ^
In Soviet Russia, Biletnikov Award win Stonum...
February 4th, 2011 at 1:50 PM ^
Offense: Mike Cox will be our leading rusher at the end of the season.
Defense: We average 24ppg, which was middle of the pack this year.
Freshman: No freshman start unless they are forced into it by injuries.
February 4th, 2011 at 8:35 PM ^
I think Kellen Jones will be competing for starts by the end of the year
February 5th, 2011 at 8:01 PM ^
He might be a 2nd string, but I doubt that he plays ahead of Demens.
February 4th, 2011 at 1:53 PM ^
Total offense rank declines to the 20s
Total defense rank rises to the 50s
7-8 wins
Denard throws for 3,000 yards, rushes for 900
February 4th, 2011 at 2:03 PM ^
A friend of mine will find me hanging in closet if we only win 7 games.
February 4th, 2011 at 2:07 PM ^
Why would you have yourself after only 9 games??? There would still be 3 + the bowl left to play. We could win 10!
February 4th, 2011 at 2:07 PM ^
February 4th, 2011 at 2:22 PM ^
It's paradoxical nature is precisely the reason why my 2011 prediction is so bold.
February 4th, 2011 at 2:58 PM ^
February 4th, 2011 at 1:55 PM ^
Offense: Stephen Hopkins emerges as our leading rusher with just over 1200 yards, while Denard becomes a much more efficient passer having only 3 INTs.
Defense: Prison Abs becomes the clear choice starter at SS, and RVB notches 8 sacks.
Freshmen: Kellen Jones does not redshirt and works his way into a starting role by bowl time.
February 4th, 2011 at 2:09 PM ^
By Prison Abs, do you mean Thomas Gordon, or Marvin Robinson. Many people think Prison Abs is Robinson because of the picture below, but it was Thomas Gordon who Rodriguez gave the nickname Prison Abs to.
February 4th, 2011 at 2:19 PM ^
Denard will have more than 3 INTs this year. Some of them might be the receiver's fault, though.
February 4th, 2011 at 1:56 PM ^
Lewan gets less than 250 yards of penalties all season.
250/13 = 19.2 ypg, thats a hold and an offside per game, plus some personal fouls here and there.
February 4th, 2011 at 1:56 PM ^
Fresmen - Barnett redshirts with Koger,Moore and Miller in front of him. Countess grabs the starting job opposite Woolfolk. Rawls also redshirts to acclimate himself to the academic grind at UM but Hayes contributes as a 3rd down back.
Offense - Cox to FB, Hopkins gets the most carries. We run more 3 WR than 2 TE or TE/FB and Roundtree,Hemingway and Stonum all have big years. Grady to DB,Watson possibly to TE.
Defense - Ryan and C.Gordon combine with Demmens to make LB a strength. Carvin takes the SS job from Kovacs and Washington takes the NT job on run downs, Martin and RVB inside on pass downs with Ash rotating in, maybe BWC too.
February 4th, 2011 at 2:03 PM ^
February 4th, 2011 at 2:16 PM ^
Cox to FB is interesting, not to mention much more realistic than Bell to FB. That could maybe work, hadn't thought of that one.
February 4th, 2011 at 3:21 PM ^
February 4th, 2011 at 3:52 PM ^
Rob Lytle:
41 | Lytle,Rob | FB | 1975 | v | Jr. | 6-1 | 190 | Fremont | OH | Fremont-Ross | |
among others.
February 4th, 2011 at 10:57 PM ^
Rob Lytle played in the days before milk and chicken were produced using growth hormones. Kids nowadays are pumped full of these things at a young age.
February 7th, 2011 at 7:02 PM ^
But it's still the modern era. It's not like I went to the 1947 team and pulled up
48 | Weisenburger, Jack | FB | 1947 | v | Sr. | 6-1 | 176 | Muskegon Heights | MI |
or the 1900 team and found
Sweeley, Everett M. | FB | 1900 | v | _ | 6-0 | 170 | Sioux City | IA | _ |
Dang. Lytle was really small.
