Weird, I'm fairly certainly I had a good link last night. Thanks for finding the right one. I've edited the original post.

Here's a fun piece Brian did on Mandel 10 years ago yesterday (I just saw this working on the "This month in MGo history diary").

Yep, thanks, I've edited it to correct that. For some reason I've always struggled with that name. I guess I only have to worry about it for another month or so.

Interesting, I shoul have looked more closely to see he got drafted. Here are his college stats. Which school got the better end of the ROJO/Warren swap is tough to say. Warren certainly had a good deal of conflict through his career, injuries, coaching, etc.

I appreciate all Wagners. Seriously, we considered naming our son (born last August) Moritz. We didn't but did keep somewhat of a 'M' theme and went with Henry Fielding.

Yeah that's an excellent example. I'm sure she would been a big draw to any 18 year olds ready to commit to Michigan.

As I've done this series, I am continually amazed at where we've come as a fanbase. The attitude and ideas from then seemed so simple and childlike. I guess you could say we're jaded now, but if there's anything good to come out of it, hopefully we appreciate what we have now all the more.

I forgot about him. He would certainly be a candidate. A good talent at a position of significant need the next few years. Plus he went on to be a succes, and he was an in-state recruit.

Interesting. I don't have any memory of that one; thanks for sharing. It's interesting that this is about the earliest anyone has mentioned. If they happned in he 90s and earlier maybe they weren't mentioned? Or maybe it's a sign of a changing culture?

Yeah that's a good one. I'd forgotten him. He certainly had a pretty decent college career.

That's a great story, thanks for sharing. Yeah, were you still together for the bowl game a year later?

Yes Brian has advocated for the 6 team playoff for at least ten years. Almost ten years to the day in fact. Just this morning I read that post from '06 in preparation for This Month in MGoBlog history.

Michigan has it's own FOIA laws, so that's what I was referring to.
Thinking about the conversation on the podcast though, I think it was more about how not enough university officials were covered by the laws. Brian said he didn't see any reasons why anything the university did should be hidden. Deitch mentioned the health system as an example of something that should be covered because of the competitive nature of that industry, but my mind immediately went to athletic coaches and what they might be sending via email.
|23 weeks 1 day ago||FOIA||
During, Brian's interview with Larry Deitch, I think Brian made the comment that there is no reason a university official should be protected from FOIA. I wonder how that affected athletic officials. If Harbaugh uses a university email to connect with his coaches on plays and recruits, is that FOIAable? I hope not, but maybe I'm missing something in that scenario.
|24 weeks 2 days ago||Thanks for adding this. That||
Thanks for adding this. That makes sense based on the rest of the post. Brian makes the point that it's also a ridiculous time to use it. It was with 23 second left in the half, and very likely Penn St. would just knee and end the half. Seems like it was more about making a point than winning a game.

It has been somewhat surreal to bounce back and forth between the '06 team and this year's team. The trajectory toward OSU feels so similar.

We already have William and Eleanor and this one's first name is going to be Henry (Norman and Angevin names!), but we are strongly considering Fielding for the middle name.
|37 weeks 2 days ago||Thanks all! I guess I should||
Thanks all! I guess I should have mentioned that this is number 3, so I am familiar with how quickly time passes. My son was born 6 days after the Sugar Bowl in 2012, and my daughter was born 2 days before the start of the 2014 season. Hopefully the trend of male offspring and success on the football field continues. I appreciate all the kind thoughts and prayers.
