Alle Wagners Wertschätzung Thread
The stat line for Franz today: 22 points, 3 of 5 behind the arch, 9 of 13 overall, 5 boards, 3 assists, and 2 steals. Also shooting nearly 80% from the line for the season.
You stayed with U of M when you had the choice, even after suddenly we lost Coach Beilein to the Cavs.
You've improved your game as the season has progressed and you're now one of the major key ingredients in a potential tournament run.
Wertschätzung!
Mo Wagner: you did so much in your time at U of M, especially including playing a key role in our tournament runs during your career. More importantly for the 2019-20 team, you did a lot to steer your jüngerer bruder Franz towards Michigan.
Wertschätzung!
Dad and Mom Wagner: many a reason to thank both of them for having such fine sons.
Wertschätzung!
For that matter, Wertschätzung.to all the Wagner's: composer Wilhelm Richard Wagner, Lindsay "Bionic Woman" Wagner, guitarist Dick Wagner, and even my high school Teacher and Coach, Ed Wagner.
WERTSCHÄTZUNG!!!

You left out....
"And all Michigan fans are happy, that you know to stay another year to further hone your skills."

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Franz commit to Michigan only after Howard got there? Like I know he was a lean when Beilein was here, but I don't think he officially pulled the trigger until after the coaching change
Regardless, we've got another good one. Excited to have him and watch him grow knowing his best games are still in front of him

Forget it, he's rolling.

The Germans?
February 22nd, 2020 at 5:38 PM ^
In fact, he took his official visit the same week Beilein left. A lot of guys would have said, "Forget it." Thankfully he didn't.

He actually was at the airport getting ready to fly to AA when he found out JB was leaving.

Wow! I wonder what was going through his mind? Aside from, 'Well, we paid for these tickets and rooms, might as well use them"

How is this team at 41 on RPI?
February 22nd, 2020 at 5:51 PM ^
because RPI sucks

We need mo' Wagners! Any extended family?

Great all-around game by Franz. He's finding his groove at exactly the right time of the season.
February 22nd, 2020 at 5:56 PM ^
All I remember from 2 years of German in high school is wo ist de toilette. Will I argue that's a very important question, for someone in Germany, it doesn't really have any use in my today.

Mark of a great team - lots of new heroes every game.
Livers and Simpson are rocks, but last game it was Castleton and Davis, this time it's Franz. Other times it's been Brooks or Johns or DDJ.
This is a deep, talented team. Look out, NCAA tourney field.
Franz is becoming the monster we hoped he'd be!

It’s a great name!

Oozing with potential. If he can be another shooter watch out.
February 22nd, 2020 at 6:03 PM ^
I feel like a dope because when he does well I yell, “yeah Moe, I mean Franz”. Our dog is Moe, unrelated, and he gets confused.

You forgot Robert Wagner. Dr. Evil’s Number One.
February 22nd, 2020 at 6:16 PM ^
I thought he was Number 2.
February 22nd, 2020 at 7:14 PM ^
Good catch.
February 22nd, 2020 at 6:16 PM ^
I wonder if there’s any more Wagners that could come after Franz.
February 22nd, 2020 at 6:24 PM ^
It's glaringly obvious Wagner has the highest ceiling of any player on UM's team. I see a young Larry Bird-like potential every time he touches the ball. Wagner is a good player this season. Next season he will be a nightmare to opposing teams. #GoBlue
February 22nd, 2020 at 8:00 PM ^
You think he’s like Bird? I see him as more similar to either Steve Nash or Mark Eaton.
February 22nd, 2020 at 8:04 PM ^
Welcome to the board, Fred :)
February 22nd, 2020 at 6:44 PM ^
He have Franz. We need Hans too.
February 22nd, 2020 at 6:51 PM ^
I love the kid....all the intangibles - tipped balls, near steals, great decisions to free up teammates. The kid gets it. Oozing with potential. Hope he loves Ann Arbor and the college experience as much as his brother did
February 22nd, 2020 at 7:20 PM ^
jüngerer bruder - lol
I'd like to add mid-70s backup Tiger infielder Mark Wagner, if I may.

It’s safe to say , the fractured wrist took some confidence away ! This team feeds off his swagger like When Mo was here ! His defense since Livers’s returned has really turned around and then long arms makes a lot of plays !

No one who speaks German could be an evil man.

Ahhh. Ever heard of Adolf?
February 22nd, 2020 at 8:55 PM ^
Franz defense is my favorite part about him. I can see the potential in his driving ability and shooting but right now his defense is well above average. He has a high defensive IQ for a freshman
