Fresh Intel: There is less than a 0% chance that Eddie will attend ND. Saying that, ND officially denied his request to be let out of his LOI and the appeal process is in motion. Sadly for him these things don't end well for the perspective athlete. From another corner of the debate, there could actually be an academic hiccup. Rumour is that its possible a failed course is causing the issue. EV's dad has tweeted that once EV's story comes out it will be clear what happened. Mum is the word since the pending litigation Colleges from across the country are supporting ND in not letting him out of his LOI, will set a bad precident. ND hate vs UCLA is very real at this point. EV has a few options. Enroll at ND and honor his LOI. Play 1 year, transfer and redshirt and still have 3 years to play. Disregard said LOI, sign where ever he wants but he will then have to enroll in the school and cannot play or participate in year 1 and loses 1 year of eligibility after that. In effect 3 years to play 3 years, as opposed to 5 years to play 4. Damn shame. |

So more information is trickling out. Apparently on NSD ND accidentally put his name on a press kit list of signees for the day and Vanderdoes still had not made his announcement. The family was pretty bent about this and it was still an issue. Also of note that he would like to be closed to home. And while UCLA is closer than SouthBend, its still a 6+ hour trip from his current residence. Secondly there is a supposed "personal" issue that was discovered after his LOI had been sent in. And when I say discovered, I mean literally hours later. The Vanderdoes family, as a result, has filed appeals to the LOI board seeking a null on his letter so that he can go play elsewhere right away, they aren't having any of it. ND coaches are all but hollaring "tamper" charges against UCLA as its been evident over social media that there has been contact between the two parties. As we all know this is Verboten. Expect to see this end shortly with the stipulation that he can transfer to anyone not on future schedules and UCLA. |

Greenberry bailed at the last minute due to academic issues and was Tee Shepards cousin. Greenberry actually called the ND coaching staff the week before NSD and told them that Shepard was speaking to USC and starting to lean that way. |

BTW, to the OP, Matt James fell of a balcony at Spring Break and died... Kinda not really his choice to not enroll.. I am perplexed as to how you go through the recruiting process. Sign your LOI, because you know its the place you want to be. Then don't even enroll at school? His best bet is to enroll for the year and then transfer. This gives him the next year to redshirt and sit out his penalty year and then have time to play. Or go JUCO.. Either way, crazy. |

And by the time he is done putting his tramp stamp on the BIGs backs he will have set sail into the sunset. Hoke went 11-2, yes. Backed into a BCS game based on popularity vs merit and beat a half assed team in VT. But a Sugar bowl is a Sugar bowl, good work. 8-5 the next year. Which is the outlier and which is the truth? Who knows. I always liked Hoke as a hire I think he'll do well. Double digit wins will be the norm? Wow. Put the refer down son. |

I am going to start this off by saying, stop crying. ND begged and grovel'd to join the BIG way back in the day and were denied on several fronts. So now you want us in and we say no and we are playing dirty pool? Right so 2016 featuring @Texas, Stanford @MSU, Miami, USC, Virginia Tech, is a cup cake schedule? As for not playing the top teams in the ACC in the same year, we have FSU and Lousiville in 2014. Give me a break. Frankly I'll hate to see this series die because it means a lot to me and my family that are mostly UM fans. As for recruiting? Don't think ND is afraid of you there either, we finished 3rd to your 7th on 247s 2013 rankings. ND doesn't want to be a regional team. We play a national schedule. We recruit nationally. You recruit MI, OH, IL and PA with a couple of outliers as your 2013 recruit roster indicates. We signed kids from FLA, CA, TX, OH, MI, MD, NJ, VA, DC, AZ... While I would prefer to see UM vs Purdue, there is more history between MSU & Purdue than there is with UM. Blame whoever but I think UM was the culprit for the long breaks here. Besides, think of the epic bowl games that will come of this. Genius. UM vs ND in the NCG. Or you can just accept the reality of college football. Money. |
