Eh, I think you're confusing Bilentnikow, with his cousin, Bilentnikov, from Vladivostok. A common mistake, since they both went to high school in Germany.
Don't know which prediction is wrong, but I don't think all three can br right. If the offense and defense predictions are right, then we'll have more than 8 wins, if the 8 wins are correct, then one of the first two is wrong.
The last prediction stands on it's own, and looks good!
"MSU was the luckiest team I have ever seen this past season."
Not to be confrontational, or anything, but in my opinion no team even got close to LSU this year in the "luckiest team" competition.
Have lived here a little over five years, and sort of get the milk and bread thing, but still can't understand the run on toilet paper immediately prior to any forecasted storm. Just how much extra can you need if you're snowed in for a day or two??? My family still gets makes fun of the locals for that foible.

I assumed that it was an "old warning," so I told AVG to let me through, then got hit. I just tried again, 755pm (after cleaning off my computer), and still got the same message.
Despite what "logic" should dictate, it really is amazing how much effect "positive spin" seemingly has on recruiting, as well as on the general perception of the program.
Hope you're right, and suspect you are with the defensive prediction, but I'm guessing (and that's really all it is at this point) 3rd-5th on offense in a transition year.
Unfortunately, I think you're right. The salary is low enough for a team to claim him, even if they don't plan on using him, just to keep him from a higher ranked team.
Didn't the Flyers lose three or four goalies over the course of the season last year? Interesting about Bertuzzi. Where did you hear that? During the game where Howard got hurt, I remember the announcers talking about "a player" having to get dressed if MacDonald went down, but I don't remember them mentioning a name.
I noticed that as well. Maybe the team did poorly and he is trying to hide the record? Or worse, maybe the NCAA investigated Offal Ifful while he was there, and he didn't want to give Drew any ammunition to work with!
Since at least two of our FG kickers kicked well in practice, it shows that they can do the physical part of it. In this case "all the coaching in the world," or maybe just some sports psychology, could be enough to fix the problem. But, since I don't like the "could" and "maybe" in my sentence above, I agree that we should continue to recruit another kicker.
Very similar memories, though I'm just a few years younger. That game is the first Michign football game that I remember vividly. The other very early game that I have a hazy memory of is the Rose Bowl loss to Stanford 13-12, in January 1972, when I was 7. Thanks for the eloquent diary!
+1 if I could. Though I've only registered recently, I've been reading MGoBlog since at least 2006 (probably earlier, but hard to remember exactly when I started). The quality of the writing, depth of analysis and humor are why I stay.
Looking forward to Septbember 2011 more in curiosity than the giddy anticipation I held from this past September to December 31st. I won't hold a "reversal" in W-L against Hoke, as every new coach should be given a transition period.
Expect Hoke to succeed "Lloydishly," but feverishly hope he exceeds those expectations.
For better or worse, psychologically I resist change and am a "glass half-empty" kind of guy. I was ambivalent about the RR hire at first, because I didn't think the spread-n-shred could work in the B10. I was wrong about that, and hope I'm wrong about Hoke's "ceiling."
Given that the posted job announcement says the open period is from 7 to 14 January, is it even legal to announce a hire before then? I know about the wiaver to the open job announcement rule, but a job opening has been posted. I work for the Fed gov, and though there are waivers as well, if the job has been announced with an "open period," no hiring decisions can be announced before the period closes.
Thank you for the beautifully written diary. I think you've captured the "essence" of some Michigan fans, myself included, especially in the "Nothing is real..." section. In my more rational moments, I realize how silly it is that I am so affected by how my Alma Mater's football team does, but it is what it is. Again, thanks.

Just took it, so it worked for me
Profits must be down, since you can't get any new Bolivian clients, no?
"It's paradoxical nature is precisely the reason why my 2011 prediction is so bold."
Ah, forgive the slowness of my uptake, in that case. And a valueless plus + for you, to boot :)

OPM already announced liberal leave for tomorrow, so if you want to take a day...

Snowmageddon and Snowpacalypse are what the locals called the two DC storms last winter. Don't think they trademarked them, though...
Love your second paragraph!
Where can I find what Valenti said? Thanks

Didn't this past year show us that Roh fits much better as a DE?
Edit. Eh, beaten to it by several others. Too slow again...
Though my experience was long ago as well, it was very easy to get accepted to start in the spring, coming from Adrian College.

Too much information.
Though I consider myself fairly educated about the on-ice events, I'm woefully under-educated on the admin side, especially CBA/salary cap rules.
Plus 1 to you, sir (my first -- I feel all special now /s)
After hearing about/seeing the statistics about the Michigan D, I think he becomes pleasantly surprised at what he will actually have to work with.

Can you please explain why RW would "loan" MacDonald to Grand Rapids, rather than just sending him back down?

Nice literary reference - or maybe a discussion group on the erudite level of Sting's song-writing

That's sure what it felt like sitting at the stadium...

Especially when one of the two they bring up hurts his hand at his first (second?) practice...
The Borg say all will be assimilated...resistance is futile!

I see what you did there...
Well, we don't have a QB in the class yet...

Why in the world would you wish that on Hoke??? He deserves far more support than RR got (as did RR).
I can personally vouch for that!

Wanted Rich kept - knew he had to go.

GO BLUE!
Given that 2011 will be a transition year, I think your point that a "more fair expectation seems to be along the lines of 8-5/7-6" is correct.

True, but the fan base is still the same. He won't fit the "culture" any more than RR did.
That's excellent. Trying to laugh through the pain...
Been too long since I've seen this. Can you aim one toward LA to keep anyone from leaving?
Edit: what happened to the splosion?
You're sounding better and better!
Funny, I was just imaging that conversation during my hour-long commute earlier today. (not that I expect it to actually happen)
Well, if it's down to you and Miles, you can count on my vote!
Cook those birds!
I can't understand how anyone who didn't like RR for ethical reasons could possibly even consider supporting Miles.
I know it must be a good picture, since it's blocked at work
Best laugh of the day!
Well, you're part of the "over-10,000 pts club" on MGoBlog!!!! /jk
