OT: Troy Aikman rips Skip Bayless
This is hilarious.
“To say I’m disappointed in the hiring of Skip Bayless would be an enormous understatement,” Aikman said. “Clearly, [Fox Sports president of national networks] Jamie Horowitz and I have a difference of opinion when it comes to building a successful organization. I believe success is achieved by acquiring and developing talented, respected and credible individuals, none of which applies to Skip Bayless."

He's not wrong

Doesn't sound like Skip to me either.

SAVAGE AF

Troy hates Skip. Bayless has been making unsubstantiated claimes that Aikman is gay for over 20 years.
September 6th, 2016 at 1:13 PM ^
I cannot believe that you, Dick Smalley, would make this comment!
September 6th, 2016 at 1:15 PM ^
Bayless is the worst-it is amazing there was a bidding war to keep him on the air.
September 6th, 2016 at 1:17 PM ^
I've never got the "racist vibe" from Clay Aiken. Bayless was definitely off the mark there.

Well done! Haha.

Yep. And Bayless made his name by associating with that era of Cowboys teams and was a sort of TMZ gossip rag for the "white house" and all the misdeeds alleged to have happend there.
Hilarious ..I expect the show to flop. I love Shannon Sharpe as a former Broncos player and thought he was okay on the CBS studio show, but I can't fathom watching he and Bayless embark on manufactured debates and arguments.
I mean, this is simply Steven A Smith all over again.
September 6th, 2016 at 2:08 PM ^
yeah bayless was a jock sniffer in dallas and still is. and hes 1 of more pompous people currently in media (which is saying something). but most of the "alleged" misdeeds surrounding those cowboy teams, the white house, etc actually occurred - many of the players have admitted as much
September 6th, 2016 at 2:37 PM ^
Oh, I know ...I used the "alleged" jokingly as journalists do these days as a CYA .
I figure there is also some animosity towards Bayless for being such a hack and how he didn't keep things behind the Cowboy Curtain.
September 6th, 2016 at 4:33 PM ^
and Dumber...
September 6th, 2016 at 2:55 PM ^
Aikman talks about Bayless and rumors without facts while recently condemning TB12 without facts for taking air out of footballs.
I say go fuck urself troy boy!
September 6th, 2016 at 1:12 PM ^
Good. I also happen to agree with him. Also I appreciate the classy way he said it. Also also his Wingstop franchises are amazing.
September 6th, 2016 at 1:14 PM ^
owns Wingstop? I haven't been, but my friends are huge fans.

Played a professional sport at the highest level and reached the summit of the mountain. Skip Bayless is an annoying POS who somehow defies reason and keeps getting work in sports despite only pumping out the hottest of takes for a living. I'll take Aikman.
September 6th, 2016 at 1:16 PM ^
Aikman's a very good professional in the business.
My only gripe with him: talking about how talented Matt Stafford is. So is Josh Smith, didn't pan out too well for him.

Bayless has reached the highest level and the summit of Mount Turd.

part of the reason FirstTake lasted so long was because Skip was bank-rolling the show. At one point it was set to be axed (I read at the time, though any current ESPN employees currently posting on MGoBlog can clarify or correct me) because the ratings sucked, but Skip kept his name and face on TV by paying for it himself..

Skip is just a clickbait ready to happen. All he does is try to say something controvesal so people talk about him. Very, very few times he gets something right.

September 6th, 2016 at 1:20 PM ^
have no idea how that douchebag got hired by anybody. I never watch him only read about the idiotic things he says. Unbelievable.
September 6th, 2016 at 1:40 PM ^
Because the average consumer of sports media is ill-informed, easily manipulated, and thinks the output of venues like ESPN and SI represent the pinnacle of sports journalism. Taking the contrarian position on everything to bait the general public is a pretty tried and proven formula for garnering ratings / pageclicks / comments. See Sharpe, Drew and Valenti, Mike.
September 6th, 2016 at 1:57 PM ^
you should have just stopped at the average consumer...

So......a top five best looking QB poll, but Troy Aikman is the gay one? Seems like Skip is doing a little self projection........
September 6th, 2016 at 4:22 PM ^
made me laugh out loud there ...thanks for the chuckle
September 6th, 2016 at 5:39 PM ^
I thought the same thing when I saw it. One point to you sir!
September 6th, 2016 at 10:59 PM ^
I think Aikman is awesome and I can't stand Bayless, but are you guys really saying you never thought Aikman was gay? That was always the joke when I was growing up, though we said that about alot of people and things in those days.

but this comment just might make me one.

Mark Cuban owned him, too.
September 6th, 2016 at 1:38 PM ^
I've heard him speak at length on a number of topics. Dude is a really smart guy.
September 6th, 2016 at 2:23 PM ^
One does not become a near trillionaire while owning a major sports franchise and featuring on a television show with fellow top world entrepeneurs called "Shark Tank" without being a "really smart guy." I could learn a few things from him as well.
In fact, I wish I had 1/10 the brain of that man. Maybe I would have come up with a better mgoname than "CorkyCole."
September 6th, 2016 at 4:24 PM ^
some of these rich people on TV get there with a lot of luck, and some of them get there because they have made a long series of really smart decisions.
I'm pretty sure Cuban is there almost exclusively because he's made really smart decisions.
September 6th, 2016 at 1:31 PM ^
Skip is a troll, and he plays into a schtick. Unfortunately that "schtick" has been all the rage in sports media. The "embrace debate" style has really gone the direction of modern journalism: down the f ing tube.
September 6th, 2016 at 1:36 PM ^
There really was no other direction for sports to go into. The world of the internet and smartphone technology has ruined the need for the traditional "Sports Center." We don't need to wait around for hours to see our team's highlights and the other teams around the league. This is how major networks draw the interest of people now.
I enjoy shows like PTI and Around the Horn because it's a good combination of the two and they don't go overboard in their opinions like First Take. And the show with Dan Le Batard is flipping hilarious. His dad says "si" on every single topic.

September 6th, 2016 at 1:43 PM ^
Is Dan and Bomani trying not to laugh at the ridiculous stuff Papi says.
"Papi are you intrigued by the upcoming Twins vs White Sox game?"
"Oh si si, very intrigued. You know both these teams, they are the worst in baseball. But very intrigued."

A true diamond in the rough is Highly Questionable. Papi always has me dying.
You make a good point about how the traditional sportscenter isn't necessary anymore. I guess PTI was so good for so long because it was the only show of its kind really on the WWL.
You know it is bad now when Jason Whitlock and Colin Cowherd have a show trying to be like PTI.
September 6th, 2016 at 3:08 PM ^
The LeBatard and Stugotz radio show is hilarious as well. About a month ago, they made Stugotz do a lie detector test and I had tears in my eyes listening to it.
September 6th, 2016 at 3:22 PM ^
One of the best segments on any radio show is when they do the whole "What athletes actually look like."
For example, they had one for Tom Thibeault, the old Bulls coach. He looks like the old grumpy detective from the 1970s that is choking down his 9th cigarette working till 4 AM on the case.
Frank Vogel looks like a used car salesman.
I forgot some of the better ones, but that segment has me laughing so hard.
September 6th, 2016 at 1:34 PM ^
Bayless is a worthless POS and contributes zero value to society.
