I listened on the Notre Dame network in Arizona as a 20 yr old and can fill u in on other factors that played a major part in ur becoming a willing participant in our group pain as Michigan fans. Bo decided that Rich Hewlett was more suited to take on the fightin irish in south bend than john wangler and Michigan soon had an uphill battle as Notre Dame held a large lead going into the 4th qtr..Enter John Wangler and goodbye clouds of dust along with the  Notre Dame lead. The game clock was under a minute as Michigan kicked off following this miraculous comeback and the only thing in the way was a long run or pass or maybe not 1 but 2 pass interference calls and maybe a 51 yd fg attempt into 30-35 mile wind that had been blowing for all, not most of the game. The Notre Dame play by play and color men gave Notre Dame zero chance...about as much chance as an undefeated team winning their bowl and losing their top ranking.

2 years 35 weeks ago denard

great points about denard. add in  the laws of probability-hit 3 parlays in a row and the 4th you hit 2 games out of 5, and you leave 17-21 points on the field. denard will bounce back.on the other hand maybe tate should get 1 series a half to take some of the wear , both physical and mental, off of a 19 year old.

2 years 38 weeks ago ezeh's problem...

...was not helped by:

1.  20 minutes of possession time for Mich offense.

2.  Playing the 2nd most  important position on the team.

3.  The 3-3-5 exposes LB's weaknesses.

4.  Every week of this season is a potential program killer.( Try that on for size, stone throwers!!!)

Brian, I fully understand the need to breakdown the teams defense as a way to help the football novices in ur adoring throng of 12-20 year olds but this constant second guessing of coaches, mainly Greg Robinson, is really getting old fast.

I'm sure you could somehow pass on ur enlightenment to both RRod and GRob and somehow  save this undermanned  defense from further futility-23 scholarships on the D side. Yours in Maize and Blue.

over the line.

3 years 40 weeks ago to confused

Since Michigan laid 31 in one half, the fact that W Mich returned few starters would be a moot point. Now if Michigan had scored 14 or less in the first half it would be a major concern.

Now does having only 3 starters back from a mediocre defense who faced 4 top 20 offenses lead to assuming that Michigan's 31 first half points were easy to come by or does a team that returns 7 starters from a defense that faced 2 top 20 offenses, 1 of whom laid down 69 points, explain why Clausen had a 2,000 Qb rating.

3 years 40 weeks ago more numbers

The Nevada Qb passing stats from last year were 'Steven Threet' like at 54% completion but very effecient with 22 td's and only 7 picks. The offensive line this year had to replace 4 starters and we know all to well how that goes.

The Nevada offense actually moved the ball well in the first half as they made it into the red zone twice and into Notre Dame's side of the field 4 times but credit Notre Dame for bending and not breaking.

As for Clausen, in 2 games against Michigan he has yet to complete at least 50% of his passes and his lack of pocket presence leads to a high percent of interceptions.

To sum it up, their are as many question marks for Notre Dame as there is for a younger Michigan team but I would rather go to battle with the 'Dynamic Duo' of TForce and DRob over 'Emu Boy'.

3 years 40 weeks ago on the other hand...

I guess notre dame's roster is filled with nothing but all americans and should easily defeat the overmatched wolverines.michigan state just replaced their qb with 2 guys who are better than tom brady's backup and their new tailback makes barry sanders look like west texas blue. illinois should have this years game settled after the 1st quarter instead of waiting till the 4th quarter like last year.wisconsin should improve enough to payback the wolveries for last year.indiana will probably leapfrog michigan based on the pasting they should lay on michigan this year. penn st always beats michigan and this year should be no different.purdue's defense wont have threet to worry about this year.minnesota and northwestern both breathed a sigh of relief when they saw sheridan is now 3rd on the depth charts and of course ohio st. just wins championships.michigan should go 1-11.

do you feel better?
