OT: UM bars in London? And Ireland???

Submitted by League54 on
I'll be in London for the Illinois game, and southern Ireland (!) for little brother. Anyone know of any UM friendly bars at either?

I just left London this morning, but I wasn't there long enough to miss a game (4 nights), so I didn't have to scramble to find a place to watch the game.

You have to plan ahead in the fall.  I was asked to do a speaking tour this fall in NZ / Australia / Singapore / KL / Shanghai, but I turned it down so I didn't have to deal with missing games.  If they want me, they can schedule the tour when it is convenient for me..

It was a bit over the top; I must have been groggy from the plane.  That being said, I always thought of myself as more of a dick than an idiot.  My wife learned that soon after I met her when she asked why I had tape stuck across the front of my football helmet with the word 'DICK' printed on it..

I once heard this story about this thing call "the interwebz" or something, and in this magical dimension, they had the capability to do this thing called "streaming" whereas one could literally watch a sporting event on a phone or other device that magically connects to this "interwebz" dimension.

Freaky right?

But seriously. Good luck.

people are going to neg bomb you for no reason but I'll try and help. there's an alumni group in London that meets in a bar downtown for every game. it's been a year since I've been there so I forget the name but do a search on Facebook for the Michigan alumni in London and they will help out. Someone is going to point out that we have a sticky or Google doc for this. I'm going to point out that it's extremely outdated

Yea the neg bombing makes no sense. I'd understand if you said "hey I live in Flint, will the bars have the game on?" But this is a lot more specific, so it is a valid post. Also to the guy who said "use the Internet," I will be logging in later neg you. Ridiculous! A lot of hostility here lately!

Might as well ask this here...I don't have the cajones like the OP to make a thread about it...

What about watching the game in Shanghai? Suggestions?

My current plan is VPN and ESPN app. But a bar would be great...

Yeah, I'm going to be balls deep in a playboy bunny at Hefner's mansion, but more importantly does anyone know what TV gets the best reception for the game there?

If you have an American VPN just VPNand watch them both through the watch ESPN app. Or do it up with the alumni group in London. Southern Ireland I'm just gonna tell you that you're probably screwed unless you VPN and stream.

Is on Big Ten Network. BTN allows you to watch games internationally without using an American VPN because it'll be 9:30pm CET and we're jetlagged and probably too tired to be walking around by then.

I'm in Italy and will be watching the game from our AirBnB on the BTN2Go app. See below - bolding mine.

http://btn2go.btnchicago.com/web_pages/faq-int.html

What is the difference between BTN2Go International and BTN2Go?
BTN2Go International is available by subscription and can be accessed individuals living or traveling outside the US, Canada and select Caribbean Islands. BTN2Go International is available to fans who do not receive the Big Ten Network from a participating domestic TV provider.

Alternatively, BTN2Go is available for free to existing subscribers of participating domestic TV providers and can be accessed worldwide, regardless of geographic location. Visit www.BTN2Go.com for more information if you currently use BTN2Go domestically, or if you receive the Big Ten Network from a participating TV provider and would like to access BTN2Go.

I learned while in Bali that you can stream BTN internationally if you have BTN/cable provider without VPN'ing.  ESPN however... you need to VPN.

Where in ireland? Cork? Kinsale?  I watched the superbowl on one of the bars on Oliver Plunkett street; however, that was the Superbowl.  I'd just watch it at the hotel/airbnb.  Or honestly, keep tabs via twitter- and re-watch later.

Thanks to those that helped, definitely looking up the group in London. Sorry for the post, but I was desperate. Voting was fun while it lasted

The snark on this board can make it quite an unpleasant place.  Always surprised by the malice Michigan fans have for a fellow fan wanting to watch the game abroad.

If you're not somewhere exotic don't even try posting this.  London is way too pedestrian.  You've gotta come strong bro.  Work harder.

Had a blast watching the BYU game last year at the Jetlag Sports Bar in London with a bunch of UM people from around the globe.  I just checked their website and it seems to be permanently closed now, though.  Hope you find someplace, it's a great way to watch a game!
