The questions aren't the same. If someone asks you "hey, how was your lunch, what did you have?" and you go no comment, you're a jerk. If someone goes "hey, how is your wife in bed?" and you answer, you're a jerk.
Brady Hoke not answering an injury question is not the same as publicly calling someone out.

That's what's infuriating sometimes about Jalen. He's the most media plugged-in member of the Fab 5, and yet he has a bizarre lack of media-savvy. Random guys on messageboards can figure out how to diplomatically answer questions better than he can. He is the Joe Biden of Michigan athletics.

"The Fab Five was a great time in my life. I love Chris and can't wait to see it."
|8 hours 50 min ago||I go back to this: lets say||
I go back to this: lets say Jalen sincerely wants Webber's relationship to improve with the rest of the Fab 5 and the University. Lets say Jalen is correct in that Webber should apologize. Now, does Jalen saying what he did help or hinder that?
It doesn't help. And that's not my opinion: ITS JALEN'S. Jalen has said (in a BS Report with Simmons right after the Title Game 18 months ago) that he understood Webber didn't like him talking about this publicly, and it makes Webber "cool" on reconciliation or whatever (I forget exactly how he worded it). He acknowledged that doing X makes Y less likely to happen. And yet, he continues to do X regularly with the stated purpose of accomplishing Y. Its either the definition of insanity, or his real reason for X is something other than Y.
He didn't have to say anything. They ask him a question about it and he could simply go, "Oh, man, I love Chris, I love Michigan, and I love the time we spent at Michigan. I'm not going to comment on anything other than that." Why is that so hard?
I love Jalen's effusiveness, I just think this is more motivated by Jalen being this gregarious guy who loves to talk -- which is highly entertaining and why alot of us love Jalen -- more than it is some well-thought out public statement. When Jalen has reflected thoughtfully in the past about the effects of him "calling Webber out" in the past, he's acknowledged its hurt the situation. So stop doing it again, Jalen.

JClay: Jalen needs to shut the hell up.
Jalen has acknowledged that publically calling Webber out isn't getting the desired effect and Webber takes it the wrong way. Then he does it again. Every 6 months. At some point, you're either too stupid to realize what you're doing isn't working, or your real purpose in doing this is not what you're saying it is.

There's a 50% chance I'm dead before we complete this home-and-home series but yay anyways.

Section 1 would literally not know what team to cheer for, but he would definitely demand to know what Lloyd Carr said about the bowl game, and to whom.

That was the scene after ND, which kicked off at 8pm EST?
Am I missing something?

To add to that, I believe every ticket sold - regardless of which that ticket is actually used or not - technically counts towards the "attendance." Scalpers having 5000 unused tickets, it doesn't matter: they "attended." The whole thing is highly fudge-able.
If I am mistaken on that, someone please correct me. But that has been my understanding for the last few years, with regard to in NCAA guidelines.

You made this comment in another thread too. Why didn't you want the students starting the wave? I think that's a cool tradition.

I cannot foresee a day where Michigan would ever announce less than 100,000 fans in the stands regardless of how many are actually there.

Excellent point, Ace, about the disparity between the box score and the eye test. Two straight weeks where the box score makes us look much better than the eye test makes us look. In both games, I have not liked the lack of fire from the team at all.

I agree with Brian that an interim coach is probably the worst possible scenario a team could have. But honestly, at this point it needs to be in-play. This is the softest team in Division I football for the second straight season, they've shown absolutely no passion in their last 16 games aside from when we played Ohio. I was still on the Brady Hoke bandwagon going into the season and three games and I cannot see a scenario in which he remains Michigan's head coach.

I'm happy for Brian basically getting an essay written about him on a big site, but I agree with the idea that Matt Hinton really said nothing of his own.

Thanks! I'm actually going to be down there for Utah and was going to try and find a Raleigh watch party.

So, you're not even going to address my letter about Tony Dungy getting the job? Thanks, Brian...

Oklahoma comes close to the WOW factor of Notre Dame, IMHO. Florida, while a one-off, is also pretty Wow.
I'm not putting Virginia Tech, Washington, or Arkansas on Notre Dame/Texas/Florida's level, but they're hardly Little Sisters of the Poor. All of those games will be hot tickets.
For Swarbrick having the jump on Brandon, I think he's booked a pretty diverse, interesting group of opponents that'll bring great non-conf games to the Big House and give alumni/fans in the other 4 conferences' footprints opportunities to see UM as well.

You're questioning the sincerity of my choices of Joe Gibbs, Jay Paterno, and Jeff Tedford? Well, sir, I don't know what to say to that.

To be fair, he looks like he has Tampa's offense clicking. That's a college guy, he'll be easy to pull outta the pros.
|1 week 2 days ago||That has nothing to do with||
That has nothing to do with it. LDS' attachement to BYU is what Notre Dame fans mistakenly percieve all Catholic's attachment to ND to be.
I would eat a bag of jalapeno peppers with nothing to drink in between if Mendenhall ever voluntarily leaves BYU for another coaching job.

So, you're saying we should go after Todd Graham then? Got the Sun Devils to the Pac12 title game! He's an up-and-comer!

Jeff Tedford is in good health; he could have twenty years of coaching tred left on those tires. Cal's academics are rigorous like ours, he knows how to recruit smart kids and still have success.

3 Rings, baby. Who else could we get who has 3 rings? Can you imagine how many tshirts we would sell in Washington DC?

How about Joe Gibbs? For a guy with three super bowl rings, I think we could get him pretty cheap.
Or Jay Paterno. Top coordinator who oversaw a lot of success for a Big Ten program and I don't believe anyone has jumped on him yet. HOW IS THIS GUY UNEMPLOYED?

You know how some people are dismissing candidates because they coach for their alma mater and wouldn't leave, hypothetically? Multiple that times ten and you have the unlikelyhood of an LDS football coach leaving BYU.

I'm done with the site for the day. Things are getting weird.

Sumlin would have to come as a total money play, admittedly. Stanford still cannot recruit like Michigan can consistently.
You have to think these top level coaches are for the most part arrogant people. They believe they can have success anywhere. If you go out and offer them 50% more to do it on the biggest stage in college football, why wouldn't they?
