Scary Weather possible for the game
As of Now Minnesota is expected 2-4 inches of snow on Tuesday. after Tuesday the forecast is cold and in the low 30's all week. With snow showers Sunday morning.
At best were playing in 28-30 degree weather. At worst that Snow Storm moves in early and were playing an October snow bowl on Saturday night.

Well, fuck.
October 20th, 2020 at 10:46 AM ^
Why? These conditions should favor Michigan.
October 20th, 2020 at 11:05 AM ^
Are you just suggesting that because it would be better for the team with the stronger run game?
October 20th, 2020 at 3:06 PM ^
And breaking in a new QB.
October 20th, 2020 at 3:33 PM ^
A few things; yes, run game is a big part. It would probably be our strategy to start with anyway, so cold/wet weather just forces that issue. It would also limit Minnesota's offense, at least to some degree, which is a strong passing offense (primarily). Also, we have the better defense, but our real weak spot this year (corner) would then be shielded a bit.
All around seems good for us, to my mind at least.

Or it's just football weather, as forecasted!

Harbaughler = Jar Jar Binks?

The title definitely made me expect more fire tornados or grapefruit hail. This is late October midwest football weather.
October 20th, 2020 at 9:51 AM ^
So was Iowa in 2016. Half the OL was wearing sleeves. I don't think I had ever seen that before.
October 20th, 2020 at 12:08 PM ^
Thank the Good Lord I live in NC. I don't want to handle that weather anymore...at least not in October.
October 20th, 2020 at 12:00 AM ^
Advantage run game!
October 20th, 2020 at 12:14 AM ^
I’m good with snow...even rain. I am forever scarred by a monsoon.

The 2019 ND game say "hey"

Funny how we remember our pain greater than our glory sometimes.
October 20th, 2020 at 12:00 AM ^
1) it’s too soon to know re Snow
2) Cold weather in Minnesota in late October. I’m shocked, shocked I say.
October 20th, 2020 at 9:39 AM ^
Yeah, we are a bit unseasonably cold though. Had a couple snow falls already and it seems the normal is around Nov. 1. So we're a couple weeks ahead of schedule in that regard. But yeah, it's MN, it should be cold this time of year.
October 20th, 2020 at 12:02 AM ^
I love MN. Wayzetta on lake Minatonka is awesome. The weather there can be 2020ing bananas. I was there during the “It’s happening” period, and there was a high of Negative 2020ing One!!! That was the high!!! God bless them.
October 20th, 2020 at 10:07 AM ^
Just bought a place near the lakes. Pretty excited.
October 20th, 2020 at 10:49 AM ^
*Wayzata
*Minnetonka
Otherwise yes, very nice. Excelsior on the south side of the lake quite nice too. Maynard's, pre-covid, great people watching in the summer.
October 20th, 2020 at 10:54 AM ^
One more 2020ing thing. A couple years ago there were two days in a row where the HIGHs were negative 23 before windchill. Lows were in the negative 30s. I can tolerate cold pretty well, but that's really, really cold.
October 20th, 2020 at 12:05 AM ^
UV index 1 and dropping to 0......so we got that going for us.
October 20th, 2020 at 12:10 AM ^
....which is nice!
October 20th, 2020 at 4:09 AM ^
Word on the street is Milton gets sunburned easily. He'll probably feel better about not having to slather on the sunscreen and feeling a bit oily and sticky before the game.
October 20th, 2020 at 12:12 AM ^
Sounds like football weather to me.
October 20th, 2020 at 12:23 AM ^
Never said it wasn't in fact I like a little snow for the game.
With our questions on whether Milton is the real deal I wouldn't mind a snowstorm to throw that equation off. and turn it into a runners game that we should dominate.
The 1 Mystery equation is Milton vs Tanner Morgan right now. We win on Defense and we win on the ground. Add in snow to throw off the passing game and I like Michigan by 14.
October 20th, 2020 at 1:18 AM ^
Minnesota's line is huge and much better at run blocking than pass protection. Bad weather turning the game into running game v running game is not necessarily in Michigan's favor.
October 20th, 2020 at 2:34 AM ^
Hey I would like to introduce you to our cornerbacks... what's left of them.
October 20th, 2020 at 1:13 PM ^
I'll take our O-Line against their first-timer defense vs their O-Line against our front 7 any day and twice on Sat night.
October 20th, 2020 at 8:34 AM ^
Why call it scary weather then? A clickbait title at best.
October 20th, 2020 at 10:49 AM ^
Tanner Morgan is better than Joe Milton. There is no question on that issue. I'd look elsewhere for the issue that could decide the game.
October 20th, 2020 at 11:33 AM ^
Will depend on who is sitting out with the dreaded "upper body injury" i.e. "the covid"
October 20th, 2020 at 11:39 AM ^
Morgan has fumbled 14 times in 22 games. Is this bad luck, technique, or average sized hands? I don't know, but cold & snowy weather puts pressure on ball security.
October 20th, 2020 at 12:15 AM ^
Upper Midwest mayn. Don’t have no nostalgia for the place weather wise after the second week of October.
October 20th, 2020 at 8:17 AM ^
Read one of Pat Forde's articles on SI.com yesterday (he's not the most objective writer and very much an SEC shill, but I've been reading some of his stuff since back when he was a staff writer at espn.com) - he referred to South Bend, IN as the "Upper Midwest"... what exactly does that make MN, WI and the UP? He's a Missouri grad, so maybe we shouldn't be so hard on him?

2020 Pat Forde.
That is all...
October 20th, 2020 at 9:36 AM ^
what exactly does that make MN, WI and the UP
Lower Ontario
October 20th, 2020 at 10:38 AM ^
And (as any Hab would know) Maine, New Hampshire, New York, and Vermont constitute Lower Quebec.
October 20th, 2020 at 1:56 PM ^
The ironic part of this is that the majority of Ontario’s population lives further south Minneapolis.
October 20th, 2020 at 12:47 PM ^
That's okay I consider everything below Toledo as The South.
October 20th, 2020 at 12:24 AM ^
Big Ten football weather in late October. That's the way it's meant to be.
October 20th, 2020 at 12:30 AM ^
We have very different definitions of “scary”...
October 20th, 2020 at 12:30 AM ^
Snow for the opener? Must be 2020.
Check.
Will be a great M football trivia question twenty-five years from now.
October 20th, 2020 at 12:38 AM ^
that's better for us, we have a giant huge beef OL and 14 running backs. They have an all-B1G QB and WR. if nobody can throw that's a huge advantage for Michigan.
October 20th, 2020 at 1:24 AM ^
Not necessarily. Minnesota's line is huge and better at run blocking than pass blocking (See 400lb Polynesian tackle) If it turns into a messy field and a slogging run v run contest it could come down to a break (fumble, slip, etc.).;
October 20th, 2020 at 2:35 AM ^
Their two best OL are doubtful for the game, including the 400lb guy. Snow is ad for us.
October 20th, 2020 at 8:50 AM ^
Linebackers and safeties are who stop running plays. Our linebackers are the class of the B1G - they were last year and will be this year. Our safeties include 5 years of experience, and the best safety prospect in the country with some proven ability behind him.
I have no fear of Minnesota's run game.
October 20th, 2020 at 1:00 AM ^
Looks like it should be around freezing through the game. The snow should hold off until after the game.
October 20th, 2020 at 1:10 AM ^
I opened this expecting a tornado watch or something.
30s and a little snow sounds pleasant to me.
October 20th, 2020 at 1:27 AM ^
Season opener in a blizzard. Now that is B10 football.
(and for those who complain it is too hot in August, it can always be worse).
