lot of 80s on that defense. wow.
That Speight number is actually pretty encouraging and makes a lot of sense to me. Colorado has one of the better secondaries we'll face this year. Wilton had to take advantage of the blitzes that put their corners on islands and he did. When they dropped 7 the windows just weren't there.
I also thought Khalid Hill stood out and the numbers bear it out. I was worried that he got badly injured on the long Darboh touchdown.

Some of the most fun I've had writing was as a film critic at the Daily. Sometimes I revisit my reviews and note how my style or opinion has changed.
I cherished the opportunity to cover films that I would not have otherwise seen, like Hirokazu Koreeda's Still Walking or Michael Haneke's The White Ribbon. I loved even more the chances to tee off on hot piles of cheese like Legion or 2012.
But this thread has led me to stumble across a film that I had literally stricken from my memory. I honestly could not remember watching or reviewing this film, and to this day I am not convinced that anyone else has ever seen it. It stars Bruce Willis and it's called Surrogates.
If you have viewed this movie, please contact me and let me know why.

We covered the spread on a day where many (most?) top teams are looking like hot ass. Just a weird day. Run blocking and QB contain the only real concerns, Harbaugh says no new injuries...pretty nice afternoon

This is a physically dangerous ruling. It's already a huge injury risk to play football at all. Now you've got overmatched, smaller athletes with fewer scholarship bodies available going against an FBS juggernaut and now you take away half of their available players? They'll be exhausted and vulnerable. This is outrageous and incredibly irresponsible.

turf toe can be a really easy, 2-3 week recovery if you do absolutely nothing. No squatting, no sprinting. He should kick back and relax, then come back against Penn State in a warmup. Their OL stinks. Full blast against Wisconsin.

These are much better than I was expecting. I don't like the Gameday category but the Vintage and Legends are really nice designs. Super expensive but might be worth one or two.

Musically, I would like to see The Battle Hymn of the Republic promoted. But it's probably too religious for some and too pro-Union for others. America the Beautiful is also a better song and easier to sing than the Star-Spangled Banner.
The SSB has only been the national anthem for 85 years, designated as such by Woodrow Wilson of all people (who screened The Birth of a Nation in the White House).
I don't think the anthem will change because of the SSB's association with the War of 1812. America the Beautiful was written basically for fun, so it might not possess the gravity that many would want out of an anthem. There was an effort during the Kennedy administration to give it equal status to the SSB as a national hymn or co-national anthem and I would not be surprised to see that effort revitalized.
Hail, Columbia was the original national anthem, composed for George Washington's inauguration. It lasted for 150 years. But it's boring.
My Country 'Tis of Thee is obviously out because it's God Save the Queen.
The Stars and Stripes Forever is a Sousa classic, but it's too playful and the vocal version is fucking impossible to sing, way harder than even the SSB.

Forbes is a mess. Content-wise it has turned into Business Buzzfeed (Bizfeed?). Its website freaks out at most adblockers. I use uBlock Origin and Forbes doesn't even know what to do with it. It just freezes on the quote page.

How on earth is LSU's offense ranked #3? The OL is tremendous and Fournette is a beast. What else? How can that be third best in the country?

Singapore would be an interesting choice for expansion. It's full of Western expats but they're mostly English and Australian. There aren't a ton of Americans in town.
Most Singaporeans with a sporting passion are fans of Manchester United or Liverpool. The number two sport is basketball. Joseph Schooling has brought a lot of attention to swimming in a country where the only prior Olympic medals have been from Chinese imports in ping pong.
Boat Quay and Clarke Quay are home to a lot of Australian bars with AFL affiliation.
I think you could make a Singaporean franchise work, but it would have to be NBA rather than NFL. There's just no audience for American football.
