Sam Crystal Ball for Roderick Pierce
Sam Webb just put in a crystal ball pick for 3*DT Roderick Pierce to UM. Sam has always said he doesn't put in a pick unless he has legit info. Allan Trieu had also put a pick in 2 weeks ago for UM. Pierce is one of the Wisconsin decommits. Looks like he's been focused on UM, Texas and Illinois since he opened things up.

this dude's ranking has absolutely skyrocketed. the excitement is not just a matter of where he's ranked today but where he was ranked a year ago. He was in the 1500s or something when he committed to UW and now he's like a top-400 4 star. smells like another Mason Graham

I hope you're right, but both 247 Composite and On3 Consensus have him as a 3 star.....in the mid 500s ranking. Mason Graham ended up as a 4 star, and in the mid-high 200s.
It would be awesome to get another guy that is awesome but under valued by the sites, though.

Sainristil, Upshaw, Gray, Barrett, Schoon, Haskins, Bell, Paye, Khaleke, Uche, Metellus, Higdon, Runyan. All lower ranked, and have immensely outplayed their rankings due to development. We do great at developing, so if the staff sees something, I trust them.

I don't know how anyone can question Elston at this point.
None of the talking heads believed this year's d line was going to be better than last year's

Yeah, Graham is a bit of a generational unicorn as far as on field production at DT for UM. Pierce doesn't have to be that good to be an excellent get. We might be waiting a long time for a true frosh impact DT again. (hope not, though)

Graham has been so good as a frosh that our other freshman unicorn (according to insiders), Kenneth Grant, has flown totally under the radar this year.
Lots of young talent on this team and finally a staff we feel is getting everything out of them in both physical, technical and shematic develepment.

Doubtful this guy is another Graham. Freshman DT are just, normally, not much of a factor.
Pierce is important however because we have to constantly build depth. This class is lower rated but it builds solid depth and should provide a bridge to 2024. The only position I'm really concerned about is CB. If we get Hill and Gates I will be stoked.

Even if he's 2021 Benny as a true freshman, and builds into a 2022 Graham by his junior year...that's huge.

Benny is a really good player just scratching the surface. This DL has so much depth. If Moore is a big hit at edge the next couple could be crazy good for the DL. We need that break out edge to bring it all together.

I think MacGregor and Okie will be a super great duo on the edge next year, with Moore & either Upshaw or Harrell giving them valuable minutes to sit.
Moore likely takes a starting spot after next year, though if he's good enough to pass those 2 next season, look out

We have several guys who are likely to take a leap next year: Moore, Okie, McGregor and TJ Guy all qualify. That does not even include Harrel.

I hope you are right, but I have learned to not give too much credibility to big Boutros’ sense of smell - for obvious reasons

Gotta keep the talent coming to replace the guys who are headed to the league. LFG.

Seems like we are the verge of becoming D-Line U. Overtaking Ohio makes it even sweeter.

Overtaking ass

Much easier to win with dominant offensive and defensive linemen
December 13th, 2022 at 12:49 PM ^
Yep, the key is reloading, not rebuilding. We have the momentum now and we just need to keep it. Coaching / development is there.....just need to keep the talent coming in.
December 12th, 2022 at 5:00 PM ^
We develop 3* really well, so I trust they see potential.

Texas is a big program and Illinois probably knows what they're doing now that Bielema has them rolling. I'm confident Pierce will be a worthwhile pickup.

I like this kids film a lot since he put on 30 lbs from junior to senior year, 247 proper is higher on him than composite and I think he ends ranked as a 4 star once the senior film is digested.
on another note Michigan is getting a visit from AJ barner who was a junior captain for Indiana. Two years eligibility plays TE and is similar/very similar to Schoon. Personally I see him as the superior prospect to Cuevas

Rod Pierce, AKA "Prince Albert"

Bang!

I believe he can and will Pierce O-Lines like a hot knife through butter.
I'll see myself out...

Check out his Hudl videos. He was probably ranked low due to not going to a lot of camps.

I appreciate Webb more and more these days as sacrificing a bit of speed for more reliability, which is a good thing!
And good news!
