Harbaugh can put an end to this tomorrow at his press conference and ought to ASAP, because if he doesn't it will be used against us in negative recruiting.

Of course, the "sources" being referred to might very well be people who hope it will be used against us in recruiting.

Last season's drama during the offseason was 100% not Harbaugh's fault.  If your boss cuts your pay in half and basically opens the door for you to leave, you're going to consider other options at the next opportunity.

Last offseason's daliance with Minnesota was Warde's fault.  You're chronically short sighted if you don't see that.

Anyone who read Bacon's book about the Harbaugh coaching hire will recall the portion where he referenced the passing interest Brandon showed to JH, I think he had a third tier lackey contact JH instead of doing the job himself.  And JH assumed he wasn't really wanted and didn't put any more thought into pursuing the Michigan job.  Same deal last year.  AD shows zero interest in keeping him.  JH looked at other options.  Treat employees like employees instead of family, they treat you like a paycheck.  Very simple.

The question is will we see more posts on Mgoblog about this than actual articles written about it?

If I have to listen to those pathetic assholes who label themselves as "NFL Insiders" spin this shit for weeks, I may go postal.

Coach Harbaugh - Please end the insanity from these fuck-ups with a strongly worded statement.

I don’t think Harbaugh will actively seek an NFL job like he did last year, but I think his interest remains and if a team decides to focus on him as their #1 candidate, he might listen. But if he really has no interest, he should say so immediately.

After telling Warde last year that he was done with the NFL, I really hope he takes it upon himself to get up to the podium tomorrow and say he’s not going anywhere, and that he will have no interest in any NFL jobs.

I get that these reports are going to come out every year and there’s nothing Harbaugh can do to control that, but considering that these rumors will always be used against him on the recruiting trail, I just hope he gets out ahead of them and squashes them before they have a chance to gain any traction.

It’s a two-way street. Ruhl’s signing makes Harbaugh’s contract only the 4th or 5th best in the Big 10. And please don’t give me the argument that Harbaugh prefers to take less so his assistants can make more. Michigan can afford both him and the assistants top dollar. These last two seasons, along with his past NFL success, will make him a hotter commodity than he was last year. If he wants to stay, he should clearly state he is happy where he is. If the University wants to do everything they can to make sure he’s happy where he is, show him the respect and gratitude for what he’s accomplished and pay the man.

I'm going to choose to believe Harbaugh when he said he was done sniffing around the NFL until he gives me a reason not to.  Call it naive if you want to and I know there are plenty of examples of coaches saying similar things and bolting, sometimes days later, but I think JH knows what he's built here, his alma mater and school he grew up around.

Anyways, I know I could be way off but I'm not going to stress out about it until given a reason to.

Harbaugh believes the Super Bowl is the ultimate coaching prize, and it is. I’m sure what he said last year was what he felt at the time, but it was said on the heels of being rejected by the one NFL team that was willing to consider him. He may be in a different position now.

A certain subset of the NFL beat will never stop shilling for the shield, if you will. I have come to think that there are certain writers who think articles such as this are essentially their purview and they will push them out whenever there is success elsewhere.

Pretty sure (without have any evidence whatsoever) that known Buckeye, Albert Breer, is behind this article. I know the original NFL.com article went over Pellisaro and Rappaport's signature, but you know there is a Buckeye behind this. Have no doubt he is behind the stealing signs rumors as well! Probably responsible for the war in the Ukraine as well. (Just a hunch)

Michigan games are played on Saturday.  NFL games are played on Sunday, Monday and Thursday.  He could coach Michigan and an NFL team and not have to be two places at the same time.

There, I solved it.

bama beat a bunch of ranked teams that year and their one loss was in the iron bowl, on the road, to #6 auburn.   ohio hasn't played that tough of a schedule (yes, michigan's is probably slightly weaker) and without trying to rub it in, got trucked pretty significantly a week ago.  big difference.

i think UGA is the prohibitive favorite over you all, even more than what they'd be against us, but i will say as always, 'that's why they play games'.  you were favored the last two years against us and that was not how it turned out.

it is good to have cool ohio fans here, as you know since you've been around a while.  i have a hypothetical question:  it is not beyond reason to think that our respective schools will have an identical or nearly identical 2023, coming down to 'the game'.  and assume that 'the game' plays out like the last two years (not talking smack, merely laying out the hypothetical), what do you do with day?  a huge part of your fan base, maybe even you, wanted him gone, g-o-n-e, gone 10 days ago.   backing into the CFP now, can you all fire him?

I think there would be an uproar to want him gone. Maybe Gene Smith encourages Day to seek out an NFL position? The whole him not being from Ohio just like Cooper would be too much at that point. It would make the OSU fanbase look crazy to fire a guy who made the playoffs and lost 1 game. I don't even know who they'd go after to make the fanbase happy. Vrabel?

and that's where i get hung up - i thought it was crazy to be screaming for day's dismissal even before the backing into the CFP.  the dude is 45-5.   and you raise the next logical question:  who would take his place that would do better?  i think i read that vrabel doesn't want to recruit.  so realistically, if it comes to pass, who do you hire?
