This will be the repository for hot take regarding the coaching performance in the BTCG.

I don't agree.  People always complain about the imperfections when Michigan wins.  Plus, there is also the element of Michigan never wins the big game because they have yet to beat a team with an undefeated season (OSU is flawed or having a down year) or an undisputed national championship (Nebraska) in the modern era.

Yeah. There was maybe one FG that should have been a go for it, but all of them were 4th and long and Michigan had been wrecking them on obvious passing downs.

Otherwise, that team had a ton of fight, and between the 20s, O’Connell may have had the game of the year for a B1G QB. I think he had something like 90% completion in the first half, and several of the long throws were just absolutely impossible to defend (particularly that one over Sainristil). There was some dink and dunk in there but a lot of it was just great decisions and great throws against zone coverage.

Agreed. Every time I see Purdue -- which, granted, is only sporadically -- its offense always looks remarkably impressive, while its defense tends to give up points, yes, but in a somewhat hard-earned sort of way. Inevitably, because it has no ground game, Purdue ends up blowing leads and losing. But as far as the eye test goes, the team always looks better than its record.

A two loss championship season followed by going undefeated and winning another championship, all done with players no one thought matched up with the supposedly elite recruiting classes. That’s great coaching along with maybe a better ability to spot talent than the schools that get all the 5 stars (how many have three freshmen that can match Johnson, Graham and Loveland). Awesome job.

Are you sure you don't want to tip your cap and keep the top of the cap? Be unhappy about play call. Why not? Who do you think dialed up those big plays? Who do you think drew up the plays that stymied their offense in RZ. Who do you think put Will as the starter? Come on. Play calling was fine. They are conservative when it is not PSU or OSU.

Brohm lost his nerve with all those FGs. all those Spoilermaker upsets happened because they scored 40+ points. Didn't feel like he was coaching to win (besides that weird fake flicker)

There probably needs to be a miscellaneous snowflake thread for officiating, TV coverage, and other stuff. In this case I will say Brohm seems to be a fantastic playcaller who desperately needs better recruiting.

The coaches? Results based charting: 13-0.

They’re doing something right.

By the way, notice something? We haven’t been complaining about red zone issues. They were ready to make it work when it counted.

Brohm tried his best, but once we went up two scores, our coaches put him in a bad situation: keep dinking and dunking with 10+ play drives for points but lose a bunch of time, or open up a little more and subject your QB with not great arm strength to more hits and interception opportunities. I'm not going to say he chose poorly but that's the anaconda strategy our coaches have built into our team, if we can get that lead in the 2nd half. Even the bigger passes Oconnell hit in the 3rd and 4th quarters were interceptable.
