but he put together a hell of a NYE show. Salt n Peppa, followed by Snoop Dogg, Young MC, Tone Loc, Biz Markee, and Naughty by Nature? That's my playlist (from 1998) and I was feeling it.... even though most of the male artists were sporting outfits from the Cliff Huxtable Collection.

91 NFC Championship vs. Washington
94 Wild Card @ GB (Barry Sanders's personal 27 for 27 hell)
95 Wild Card @ Philly
All games where Detroit completely forgot what made them a competitive team and proceeded to choke the life out of themselves.

With the "new canon", there's been a lot more nuance added to Vader's character other than "he's the Emperor's blunt edged hammer". He's still the former Anakin Skywalker with bad humor (he nicknamed his apprentice "Snips"), but now he has the full authority as the Emperor's invisible hand. Vader allows Krennic his vanity, but once he steps over the line as to "what's good for the Empire", Vader puts him back on his leash via Fore choke. Totally liked it. Plus, Krennic disturbed him from his good Bacta soak and was not in a forgiving mood. I think about how I am when the Amazon guy comes to my door with a package while I'm soaking in my tub.
|4 weeks 3 days ago||I thought Vader's dialog with Krennic was spot on||
Read the Darth Vader comics from the last year, or hell, remember Ep 4 with the "I find your lack of faith disturbing" line. It's totally in line with Vader's portrayal.
One thing I couldn't reconcile, that I'll have to pay more attention to, is why Krennic went to Mustafar in the first place. Was he ordered there by the Emperor, was this his power play to get control over Tarkin?

Dantonio doesn't have a widly successful coaching tree or young assistants waiting in the wings in East Lansing. Narduzzi's settling in at Pitt, and Fleck would probably even today be more attractive than Narduzzi regardless. Add in 3-4 years with a continued demonstration to recruit, 2 or 3 more MAC titles, and he'd be a Sparty Savior.

Fleck could also be thinking that he'd be a potential candidate in Ann Arbor should Harbaugh leave in 3-5 years....
|5 weeks 6 days ago||This is my thought||
Western's making him the MAC version of a Godfather offer. He could stay at Western, burnish the credentials, and be the first choice in East Lansing in 5-10 years when Dantonio's leaving, still putting Fleck as a P5 HC before he's 50. Plus with his family situation, that's a win for everyone.

on Franklin after this year, so the Baylor move now makes sense for him. He's maxxed out at Temple and a P5 job is the right move.
Damn, now I have to re-do my Bowl mania picks.

|8 weeks 3 days ago||My take||
- a lot of play action crossing routes, relying on the play action to suck up hyper aggressive LB's and hoping that Butt / WR's can beat their man off the line to get into the crossing lanes before the LB can re-react
- I think you'll see rolling pockets as well to try and simplify the reads for O-Korn while giving him the freedom to go after the sticks with his legs
- On the running attack, I figure to see a lot of FB / H-back leads to try and wipe out the first level LB and hope to get our RB against their free hitting DB (as opposed to a free hitting LB), i.e. Smith trucking a DB or Evans hitting the hole faster than the DB can get there. Not too much zone reads as the DL's will be shooting so much as to disrupt zone running lanes. I also think you're not going to see a lot of misdirection unless they find that the LBs are overrunning to the inital read. We should see that within 2 series of offensive plays.

Lockwood looks like a huge surprise.. an actual quasi-power forward that can generate scoring chances that we haven't had in a long time. I think our goal scoring might be OK in that we're not going to have a dominant #1 line, but it might be death by a thousand cuts type of distributed scoring. I've also been impressed overall with Piazza. Didn't think he was a top pairing type of D-man, but en total he's played well. I don't think we're in the top 2 in the conference, but I think we're solidly the 3rd or 4th team, which will mean we will have a realistic chance to play our way in on the last weekend.
|12 weeks 8 hours ago||Analysis I read from an NBA shot guru type||
was that the defenders in the NBA are generally faster at closing out on perimeter shooters than in college, so that ended up altering Stauskas's stroke because he was trying to compensate for the slightly increased speed of the defenders. I'll try and find the link to the article because they had a video clip in which they showed frame by frame that Nik's rhythm on shots was off between his college shooting and NBA shooting.

LSU could do worse than Da Coach O. Considering the lack of top flight candidates and the fact that Auburn, Miss St and maybe Ole Miss may be changing coaches also, LSU could keep DACOACHO, he'll keep the 5-star recruiting pipeline going for at least 1-2 years, keep LSU winning 8-9 games a year, and leave the cupboard full for when LSU decides to go all in on the next hot thing coach (maybe after Saban retires). You keep Coach O knowing he's a placeholder that probably won't set the program on fire as long as you keep a bevy of quality assistants around him.
And I say this having lived through the Hoke years.
|13 weeks 6 days ago||Hermann at Oregon is a real possibility||
You've got the unlimited resources of the Nike checkbook, none of the psychotic behavior of Texas alums, they'd be open to Hermann's offensive philosophy, and Hermann's Texas ties can be used for recruiting to Oregon. Add in that the Pac-12 may be ripe for the taking with USC & UCLA possibly in turmoil. I think it's overreaction by the talking heads that discount Hermann going anywhere besides Texas or LSU.

this is NOT *Exactly* like the PSU and Baylor situations at all. Here, Leach is openly admitting his players are involved in a legal issue and is basically saying he's going to let the legal system play out. In both Baylor and Penn St, unviersity administrators and athletic officials were actively concealing criminal behavior under the guise of "internal athletic dept matters" in the case of Baylor, or pressuring employees to not cooperate with law enforcement personnel in the case of Penn St.
I have NO problem with a coach basically saying that he's going to let his players play out while they go through the legal process as long as said coach is not interfering with the legal process or obstructing / obfuscating evidence. There have been enough anecdotal evidence over the last couple years that players are sometimes unfairly accused of crimes and then put through character assassination by media and fans who want "immediate justice".
