We still had a great season

10-2, with losses to 2 NY6/CFP teams. Yes, the last loss was bad, but we still beat PSU/MSU/Wisconsin and also had a top5 defense otherwise. Today was a total anomaly.

But go ahead, keep being upset at the program and where things are at. Today was a bad day, but the sun will rise tomorrow.

Typical bullshit comment that has popped up on this blog for the last 10+ years following every major defeat. It's the same bullshit mentality that has kept this program mired in mediocrity.

It was not a "GREAT SEASON." We just got demolished by our arch rival with the B10 East and Playoffs on the line. Not just beaten. Or whipped. But demolished, destroyed and demoralized.

But you go ahead and keep believing that we had a "great season." And that this was a "total anomaly." Is losing 16 out of the last 18 to Ohio State also an anomaly? For fans like you -- and there are a ton on this blog like you -- the answer in your delusional heads is, "Yes, still anomaly. We are Michigan. We are elite."

Even after Dwayne Haskins hangs 62 points on our overrated defense. Even though we have to quake in fear when the opponent's offense comes to the line and we have no idea what to expect. Versus our offense which is so predictable and boring, we have to hope that we do not know what the play call is, though we are correct 70% of the time. Same way it was under Lloyd and Hoke.

(At least we had two years of Denard. Two fun years where our offense wasn't predictable and didn't stink. Though the rest of our team did, at least the offense was fun.)

And you say, "We still had a great season."

Fuck that mentality. And fuck all of you here who share it.

I feel like...get a meaningful win and there won't be "typical bullshit comments" after a 30 point loss to a rival. Fuck you for settling for that type of let down.

"Before the season" folk fail to realize that Wisconsin and Penn State were top ten programs before the year. At it stands now, they are.... Not that. Borderline unranked. We have zero wins against good teams. The first healthy qb we faced we absolutely, unobjevely shit the Fucking bed. We are bit a good team this year. And what a disappointment that is. We fail to use our 4/5* receivers. Our 5* DE is an absolute no show.

Stop. 100% failure of a year. Even if we win the tuttyfuck whocares.com bowl.

Anyone who considers this successful is either too young to remember the days when we actually beat Ohio State in football, or they are happy to be in the upper half of mediocrity

Very good to excellent season.  Not quite great imho.  Great games vs.  Nebraska, Wisky, PSU and MSU.  Today was our worst game.  Finishing with your worst game of the season in the biggest game of the season not great.   Appreciate your sentiment and spirit though.  Maybe if we finish with a great bowl win and 11 wins I'll join your camp MGBF90.  Keep the faith.  Do think program is still ascending, but today was a bad day.

It’s not a good season, but what is worse is the number of “fans” on this board showing what ass holes they are.  I understand criticism of your team but the program would be better off if some of you took a walk into oncoming traffic.

As always, Go Blue

If we lost in a 1 point barnburner, ok great. We fell just a bit short but we still had fun.

This is different. This stings as bad as the whimper-to-the-finish that was last two seasons.

We thought we were some real hot shit, sent what some thought was our best team in a decade to play a wounded buckeye team, and got absolutely bent over and spanked in front of the whole wide world.

No more east division, no more B1G championship, no more playoffs. But hey, maybe we'll get lucky and play a pissed off Georgia team that just got beat by Bama and they'll beat our faces in too!

"Great season"? Piss on that noise right now.

We'll see how I feel in a few days.

This season went way better than 90% of us expected. That being said, today was a huge disappointment and I don't have faith in this coaching staff to win against osu ever.

Ohio State owns us as long as Meyer is there.

We just have to accept that.

We've had the three best teams we can have. But, his team ALWAYs gets it together in time to play us. And they have more talent and they have a more potent offense.

If we can start to get elite talent at offensive tackle and running back, the tide will shift.

But, so far, he hasn't hit on either.

Better skilled players are not answer. Purdue destroys Ohio state. Iowa destroys Ohio state. Maryland hangs 51 points on them. MSU makes their offense look like trash. Penn State was THIS close.

And what does Michigan do, with their #1 ranked defense, Star QB, and rock star HC?? Completely shits the bed, and then shits the bed again, and then when you think it can’t even get any worse...you guessed it, they shit the bed again.

This has EVERYTHING to do with gameplanning, offensive and defensive schemes, and coaching. Plain and simple.

There’s zero possible way to spin this loss any other way without being entirely delusional.

Completely agree that this was a good season. I enjoyed the vast majority of it. This loss sucks but whatever. Maybe it's time to accept that osu has an excellent program and it's tough to beat them (for those of you that haven't). I learned years ago to not let a bad game bring me down. Enjoy college football for what it is.

Sorry if you don't have the awareness to realize the position Michigan is in with harbaugh is a pretty damn good one. I personally don't think we've hit our ceiling with harbaugh. There are definitely a lot of positives to take from this season and plenty of room for improvement. There just aren't many coaches I'd trade for harbaugh right now if I'm being honest (at least not coaches we could reasonably get).

Losing in Columbus was always a quite possible outcome, in fact before the Wisconsin win it probably was the consensus expectation here.

In spite of that it has the feel of a catastrophe. The biggest reason is of course that the wins vs Wisconsin, MSU, and PSU got everyone quite carried away. Expectations soared in rapid and dramatic fashion. Even the less than convincing win vs Indiana did not tone down the hype. Lets be real here, we werent as bad as people said in September and we never were as good as people said after the PSU game.

The second and less predictable element is the 62. I never would have expected us to concede 62 today. If we had lost 28-21 i would have been disappointed but not rattled. The 62 however is something that is both unexpected and deeply damaging. Defense is the heart of this team. If we cant rely on 39 pts being enough to win, it does indeed look quite hopeless going forward. I think this humbles us and shows how wide the gap between us and OSU really is. And this perception can be self-reenforcing via recruiting. 2nd place in the Big Ten East might be the best case scenario in the foreseeable future.

In order to be in a good enough mood right now to call the season a success with in an hour of losing to OSU IMO you really have to not care that much about Michigan football. I cant imagine making a post calling the season a success an hour after losing to Ohio fucking State and missing out on a Big Ten Championship

Ill be feeling shitty for at least a week. Then ill be reminded about how disappointing the season is when OSU beats NW for another big ten title. But the disappointment doesn't stop there! We could still lose another meaningless bowl game to finish 10-3 again! WOOOOOH HOOOO

You can care about Michigan and still have a grasp on life and realize this is just a game.  Always has been. Always will be. And im not going to let it affect how i feel for a week and i can still think it was a good season at the end of the day.

It’s all how you want to let the games being played by student athletes that you have no control over and put nothing into yourself besides money and your time watching determine how you feel in life.

Life is still good. It’s just a game.

I saw this coming..I posted it about a week or so ago..All the stars were in alignment for this to happen..been there done that over and over and over again...I sorta gave up on football after last year and had hoped that was premature but AGAIN they find every imaginable way to lose to Ohio...THANK GOD for basketball

Oh Fuck off.

Today was an embarrassment and makes the rest of the season look like it was built on a bed of sand, if you really can't see that I don't know what to tell you.

The season was fine, but it can never be considered good with this humiliation being a part of it.  THIS is the story that will be told, of a cocky team that thought they could play and got their asses handed to them on the biggest stage by the two opponents this year that were worth a shit.  Blow sunshine somewhere else.

I disagree, but it might help you deal with next season.  With the loses we have coming due to the draft, we'll be lucky to win 8 games next year.  Back to being irrelevant again.

If Maryland would have beaten OSU last week and we lost today there'd be a lot less bitching and we'd be Big Ten East Champs.  It didn't work out.  It's disappointing.  If you think you're disappointed I can think of a lot of young men who busted their asses this year hoping for better.  Thanks to the players for a good year!!!

I’ve literally lost count of how many times I’ve brought this exact fact up on this board.

So it’s been four years and Harbaugh can’t even make it to Indy, let alone win the game...something both Franklin and Dantonio have both done, along with beating Ohio State.

Almost universally, by year four you know what kind of team a HC will consistently produce. I have zero expectations that this team will look any better next season than they did this season. At this rate, it’s going to be a LONG TIME before we beat Ohio State again.

Everyone loves bringing this up, but the program is on the upswing, they are adjusting and recruiting this year has been going better.

I can think of another program that had a lot of mental baggage to throw off even while they built the program and got it going again: Clemson.

Not saying we are Clemson, not saying that it's going to happen, but this was not a turnkey situation, the way Bama, OSU, etc. were.

There's potential here, even if it looks beyond Michigan's grasp right now(this loss was bad and I am just as pissed as everyone else, I just don;t want this data point defining the program)
