I’m sorry but you want me to watch 28 minutes of highlights with commentary from Penn State’s radio guys? No thanks.

Why would I do that when I can listen to the Michigan commentators over the highlights? In fact, the first comment the PSU guy makes is some snide remark that Michigan ruined their moment by taking the field first.

Do what you want. I don't care.

Some people obtain enjoyment in the misfortune and crestfallen antics/reactions of others. I count myself among them.

Especially this year when Michigan's football team is grounding opponents into bonemeal.

Sounds like you listened to the first minute, got pissed off over nothing, and dropped this gem of a comment. I've watched every one of these this season, and they're almost always fun. The only one I had trouble getting through was MSU for obvious, Blaha-related reasons. But otherwise it's part schadenfreude, part new perspective, and part I just love watching this team play. It's almost like watching a reaction video for something you've already seen/heard. It's validation that even someone reacting in real time is seeing what you're seeing. Am very grateful for this series on youtube, am subbed to OP, and will continue watching. If you don't like it, feel free to not follow suit.

i listened to the game on sirius xm and it had the penn state radio feed. it was fine i guess, but they did seem to be complaining about a bunch of the holding and interference calls. "i'll be stunned if this one goes against penn state" *call went against penn state*

When you watch the replay, there are 2 calls that they might have a point . . . a missed hold on our WR blocking, and the PI on JJs only pass of the 2nd half.

But those calls turned out to be immaterial.  We only got a FG after the fist call which we would have gotten anyway, and we punted after the 2nd call anyway.

The ref's did not cost either Michigan nor Penn State the game.

I just watched this. When they started complaining about not calling holding, I chuckled because there were blatant holds against our DLine all game. As much as I was worried about this officiating this game after the suspension to Harbaugh, I thought they were pretty consistent throughout the game.

Indiana was 2nd-worst for sure. Very homer announcers and lots of complaining, but not at the same level of MSU at all. George Blaha really looked at their guy launching into the back of someone's head and barely commented on it, then continued to complain that we stepped out of bounds on the play.

all the crying about the pass interference in the 4th.   the defender clearly impeded Barner with his arm across his body and his other arm around him as he tries to turn to make the catch at the PSU 32.   announcers and crowd react to the defender being pulled down long after the ball sails through and as it hits at the 25. even after he replay they can’t see that.

I haven't made it the whole way through yet, but so far fairly objective.

And I absolutely loved this comment about our defense:

"We're talking about the top 7 for Michigan on the defensive side of the ball are outstanding... they are as physical as Ohio State, or probably even more so."

These have been added to the weekly ritual. Fantastic.

I was impressed with the quality and impartiality of the Purdue guys -- something tells me PSU won't be the same...

Nice, professional announcing team. I really don't like radio announcers who see the game with their heart instead of their eyes. You can't tell what's actually happening in the game. Ufer would add a yard or two to every gain we'd make and subtract a yard or two from every gain the other team had. Listening, you'd wonder how we didn't get a first down after three 4-yard runs, or how the other team got a first down on three 3-yard runs

SiriusXM has an NFL channel --- on Sundays, they "whip around" to the various games, using the radio crew for whatever team has the ball.

It's kind of fascinating --- instead of just ONE biased radio crew, you get to listen to TWELVE of them!  For whatever reason, it seems NFL radio guys tend to be pretty big homers.

Ufer WAS actually calling what he saw with his eyes, it's the Ref's who screwed the spots.

Look at Roman Wilsons catch last year in the Fiesta Bowl, every player, coach, spectator, announcer, and tv viewer saw that was a touchdown, but noooooo some ref says down at the 1 foot mark, bullshit.

Usually there's some home field advantage to the spots, but I feel we get hosed more often that not.

On a number of occasions over the past few years WTKA has re-broadcast during bye weeks a 1970s Michigan game that Ufer called. Since I know the outcome of the games I've been able to listen more dispassionately and analytically than I could when I was listening to them live.

I've been struck by how often Ufer does a pretty poor job of describing the specifics of the action as it happens—frequently you don't know what exactly has happened on a play while Ufer is yelling about George Patton and Ricky the Peach and Johnny Wangler. The enthusiasm with which he called the game was great when I was listening as an undergrad, but IMHO his successor Frank Beckmann was a vastly better play-by-play announcer.

Thanks.  I often run on my treadmill during the week and watch replays from different perspectives.  Interesting.

Disclosure: I’ve watched replays of the last two UM-OSU games probably 100 times.  Never gets old.

For the most part they were very fair with their call. The one time they went total George Blaha was when Kenneth Grant chased down their back and the guy started yelling about a horse collar tackle which it wasn't even close to. To his partners credit he did talk about Grant's effort in pretty glowing terms.
