Is anybody else experiencing serious audio lag (like about a full second) on the DirecTV 4K channel?  I had it on both Belgium-Tunisia this morning and Nigeria-Iceland yesterday.

I agree with you in general but I'm not sure how much Penn State's season helps us.  Without that, OSU is in the BTCG where they'd almost certainly destroy Wisconsin, which would render moot the "Do both OSU and the B1G champ deserve to get in over Michigan?" question and give us just that slightly better chance of getting in the CFP.

[SECTION 4. Batting and Kicking Batting a Loose Ball—ARTICLE 1 Approved Ruling 9-4-1] I. Team A attempts a field goal from Team B’s 30-yard line. A Team B player in the end zone leaps above the crossbar and bats the ball in flight. The ball goes out of bounds in the end zone.
RULING: Foul for batting the ball in the end zone. During regulation play, postscrimmage kick enforcement gives a safety by penalty. In extra periods, enforcement of the 15-yard penalty is at the previous spot
and Team A retains possession.
II. Team A attempts a field goal from Team B’s 30-yard line. A Team B player in the end zone leaps above the crossbar and bats the ball in flight. The ball goes into the end zone and is recovered by Team A.
RULING: Foul for batting the ball in the end zone. The result of the play is a touchdown.
III. Team A attempts a field goal from Team B’s 30-yard line. A Team B player in the end zone leaps above the crossbar and bats the ball in flight. The ball goes into the end zone and is recovered by Team B.
RULING: Foul for batting the ball in the end zone. The result of the play is a touchback, safety.
IV. Team A attempts a field goal from Team B’s 30-yard line. A Team B player in the end zone leaps above the crossbar and bats the ball in flight. The ball goes into the field of play.
RULING: Foul for batting the ball in the end zone. During regulation play, postscrimmage kick enforcement gives a safety by penalty. The ball remains alive, and Team A may elect the result of the play. If Team A recovers, does not score and accepts the penalty, or if the play occurs in an extra period, enforcement is at the previous spot.
VII. Team A attempts a field goal, and B23, in the end zone, goes above the crossbar and catches the ball.
RULING: Legal play.

JFK was killed by his driver using a CIA-provided CO2-powered assassination pistol designed with Alien technology firing an exploding bullet filled with shellfish toxin.

This and many more (moon bases!  Mars bases! Reptilians!) - just google "Milton William Cooper."

01/19/2016 - 1:16pm Don't think of it as a movie

Don't think of it as a movie that butchers a book.  Just think of it as a movie that coincidentally shares a title, some character names, and the 'villains' with a book.  I found it much easier to enjoy both once I did that.

On the 20-ish yard scramble up the middle, it looks like he's about to slide, remembers 'Oh yeah, I'm going to get hammered anyway and there won't be a flag,' then straightens up and runs 8 more yards.

I thought I was the only person in the universe (aside from all the Michigan defenders) who saw that.  Nobody else I've ever talked to about that play saw it.

GEN Pritchard, CO of the unit that captured Davis, lived in my hometown (Allegan).  The soldier who first laid hands on Davis is buried just down the road in Martin.  There was a story about him in the local paper a few weeks ago: http://www.allegannews.com/allegan-news-news/civil-war-soldier-andrew-bee-honored-after-150-years

11/28/2014 - 3:04pm I don't think they'll stop

I don't think they'll stop caring until the final gun.  They need to RUTS us as badly as possible to have a chance of making the CFP.

11/23/2014 - 11:35am Michigan literally left 15

Michigan literally left 15 points on the field just on special teams.  The block in the back and the roughing penalty have already been discussed (although when I'm king, diving and rolling around like you've taken a sniper's bullet through the knee will result in an offsetting unsportsmanlike conduct penalty), but if Chesson finishes his block on Kerridge's fake punt, then the big guy rumbles into the end zone.

11/13/2014 - 11:25am 2200?  When did they

2200?  When did they recalibrate the SAT?  Usedta be 800v800m for 1600 was the max...

EDIT: did the legwork - 'verbal' is now 'critical reading' and an 800-point-max writing section was added in 2005.

11/08/2014 - 10:50pm Six sacks and three turnovers

Six sacks and three turnovers helped a lot.  Also two punts downed inside the one, which is rare enought that I thought they were highlight-worthy.

10/21/2014 - 7:33pm What do you mean, 'tonight?'

What do you mean, 'tonight?' I started late in the first half of the ND game and basically haven't stopped since.

I had a bunch of my YouTube subscribers ask when I was going to get around to doing that game, and I finally had time late last weekend.  I should have understood that the intersection of the sets 'parkinggod YouTube subscribers' and 'regular MGoBlog readers' is probably pretty small.

10/13/2014 - 12:47pm I would really put the

I would really put the general line at I-70. There are a lot more towns like Martinsville south of Indy than there are north of it.

I had a friendly argument along these lines with an Alabama fan in the days leading up to the 2000 Sugar Bowl - I made the argument above; he claimed the South ended at Tennessee.

We had a good laugh when I pointed out that both sides were trying to inflict Kentucky on the other.

10/13/2014 - 11:13am Not only is Kentucky

Not only is Kentucky *definitely* in The South, I've always figured that if you take one step south off the IU campus, you're also in The South.

09/24/2014 - 5:26pm Lewis' run directly saved

Lewis' run directly saved four points, and I don't think he made a mistake elsewhere in the play to break it loose for a big gain.  I would have guessed +2 at least.

He had a bunch of sayings like that: "Like a bull with a bee in his ear" and "didn't he look like a runaway piano?" come to mind.

08/31/2014 - 9:52pm I tried to get the radio

I tried to get the radio audio to replace the execrable Mowins/Galloway combo when I made the parkinggod highlights, but I encountered technical difficulties.

07/18/2014 - 1:42pm I think I've figured out the

I think I've figured out the best way to watch the Tour de France as a mildly interested fan:

1. DVR the morning live coverage,

2. Watch the first five minutes as all the talking heads make their predictions.

3. Watch all but the last 15 minutes of the stage in high-speed mode (20x in my case).  Drop back to normal speed every so often to see if the race situation has changed (also back up to watch any crashes you noticed while on high speed).

4. Watch the last part of the stage at normal speed.  Marvel at the predictions the talking heads got wrong.

I'm almost always through in well under an hour.  If there's a stage where there are brutal climbs, I'll watch more of those because I enjoy seeing the riders suffer.
