Sort of OT: Michigan-related baby names

Submitted by evenyoubrutus on November 15th, 2018 at 7:00 PM

Mgobrethren, I need your help. My wife has carried three children, and naming each of them was more difficult than the last. She is now carrying children numbers 4 & 5. They are a boy and a girl, and are due in January. We are really struggling to come up with names, which is stressful but also a great opportunity. I would really like some input on Michigan related names. Here's the catch: it has to be subtle. Woodson is too obvious. I suggested Fielding and she was "meh" on that idea.

Please help. The class of 2037 is counting on you.

I named my wife's dog Hailey Harbaugh.

My friend had a dog named Maizey

Instead of something like Denard Robinson Cook  maybe you could do "Brian Cook [Your name here]"

Better yet, Sam Webb [your name here.]

or help influence  recruit and go with   George Karlaftis [YNH] and Quavaris [YNH].   Quavaris could be a girls name right?

We had a baby boy this past summer. I made a list of 170 names I liked, including "Bo," among others, but my wife was into none of them. Then one day she suggested "Desmond"... inspired, I think, by reggae singer Desmond Dekker and Archbishop Desmond Tutu. I didn't mention anything about U-M's Desmond... I just said "Yup! That's it!" (For what it's worth, Desmond Howard and I were work partners in a U-M journalism class during his Heisman season... GREAT guy.) Desmond was born in June (class of 2036). All my friends are surprised my wife agreed to name our kid after a Michigan football player... but she didn't know the connection. I just got lucky.

We named our sons- Dezmond and Braylon, the Z because we knew we would call him Dez a lot and the Z made more sense.

Named my sons Brian (9/1997) and Andrew (1/ 1999) after Michigan quarterbacks. Did not want to use Drew, it would have been too obvious and it did not go well with my single syllable last name.

How about Devin and Dylan (twin #10s).

or David and Karen (twin # 22s).

Ryan or Graham and Jordan after the favorite Glasgow walk-ons!

Hailey Victoria and Hale Victor.  These are my suggestions for every pregnant woman and expectant father that I see in my office. Macy Blue is another option.
