Don't know why, but this was a surprise. For guys in their sixties, they probably had a poster of her in their bedroom on the back of a closet door.

As a a young boy in grade school with little idea about the wonder of women, I thought that Raquel Welch looked rather fetching in red, white and blue. I think it was Parade magazine when Myra Breckenridge came out.

Yes, that caught me by surprise too. I'm only in mid-50s, so I became aware of her after she was already established, but I remember enjoying watching her 60s and early 70s movies as a kid on the afternoon movie.
Probably the preeminent sex symbol of her time, wasn't she? At least the one I was most awestruck by.

A little before my time but her iconic pictures are so beyond iconic. The fur bikini, as many have mentioned.
Most impressively though, I think, is the fact she was such a stunningly natural beauty before it was even possible through surgical or medical enhancement. Nowadays people are getting so much preemptive work done while they are young, it's hard to discern what "natural beauty" is. There's something quite special about the captivating power of someone born so naturally beautiful.
