i love App st getting 3.5. something about that one smells like the harbor. i took cal +7.5 over texas too.
September 16th, 2016 at 3:15 PM ^
I think Cal is going to get steamrolled. I would have gone the other direction on that one.
September 16th, 2016 at 3:46 PM ^
I agree with you, however, it is on the road with potentially a true frosh QB.
I would still bet on texas beating them by more than 8 pts though
September 16th, 2016 at 4:02 PM ^
the line opened at 4. went to 8. it's coming back down a bit now. 7.5 is a tasty enough number for me to nibble. plus, it's the last game of the night and will keep me interested.

I really think MSU loses by 10+ @ ND. I know the ND secondary is a bit depleted... but still thinking ND wins this 24-14 and beats the 6/7 pt spread.
September 16th, 2016 at 2:27 PM ^
I thought about putting money on this one but this series is so unpredictable. Somehow Sparty alwasy seems to rise to the occasion against ND -- usually inexplicably.
September 16th, 2016 at 2:30 PM ^
Can't argue that - it seems to happen more often then not with MSU lately (unfortunately)
Typically I'd say a bye week would be helpful for them but since it was in week 2, I'm questioning if it did more harm than good in this case.

MSU may have had its struggles, but ND didn't look that impressive to me against texas- other than Kizer. MSU has a better defense than Texas, in my opinion, and they are getting Ed Davis back in addition to Lb Jon Reschke. Also, Rj Shelton (one of their main WRs) will be back as well based on what I heard on the radio. I think MSU will do well for themselves in this one unfortuntately. I will be pulling for notre dame however...
September 16th, 2016 at 3:38 PM ^
Maybe later in the year he'll be playing well but right now I think Ed Davis is going to look like a guy who hasn't played a competitive snap of football in nearly two years.

7 is a ton to give when a straight-up upset wouldn't be the least bit surprising.

Florida St -3 at Louisville (think FSU wins by 2 scores)
Ole Miss +11.5 vs Bama (think it will be much much closer)
Oklahoma +3 over Ohio State (should be a hell of a game but like Oklahoma in a close one at home)
Notre Dame -7 over Staee (disrespekt)

I thought about that but App State always takes teams by surprise in their opening game, but then after that Power 5 teams take them seriously and they lose by comfortable margins. But it is odd (and a bit scary) that the game is in Boon.

for having to travel to places like App St. A condemnation of their level of fan support.

I like my bet of "all in" when I have a mathematical lock on the winning hand and everybody else has already bet hard into the pot.
Ooooooh! Football styles...
I think MSU is an interesting one. I think there's a chance they fall big to ND due to early-season jitters and rust. They played (and nearly lost?!) a glorified practice against Furman like a month ago and haven't matched up against any non-Spartans since.

FAU +25.5 @ Kansas State
Kansas State is real bad, FAU is improving. They'll keep it within a couple scores.
New Mexico State +21 @ Kentucky
Ditto
Duke @ Northwestern Under 44
Come on
September 16th, 2016 at 3:01 PM ^
Kansas STATE is real bad? They played Stanford within 2 TDs. That spread does seem high, though.

Fascinating piece in the Omaha paper recently about how home-field advantage is disappearing in college football. Power 5 teams were only .508 straight-up at home in 2014 and 2015.
I don't think home field gives ND much of anything here, especially against this opponent. State should be able to keep the score down and cover, if not outright win.

Texas Tech to cover 10.5 againts La Tech at home is a layup
Georgia -6.5 (love the 6.5 spreads) at Miizou
SDSU vs Northern Illinois 50 o/u is enticing
also the spread narrowing against Colorado worries me but I'll take big blue all day

oklahoma is going to win outright...
