He already turned us down once.  I don't know who'd be more angry - us or his wife (who supposedly vetoed the move the last time it was on the table).

I thought about this one too, but too much baggage.  And though he didn't make the bad foul calls, it still feels too soon.

mi93, that might be the best pun of all time in reference to pitino, and you might not even be aware you wrote it, which makes it all the better: ("who supposedly vetoed the move the last time it was on the table)."

i think pitino's mistress was under the table, but you know that might only have been a sliver in time to the whole engagement.

If he did the exact same thing at Michigan that he did at Louisville, our basketball program would have been burned to the ground.  How Louisville, Arizona, Carolina, Kansas, etc etc and so on and so on, get away with it I have no idea.  But Michigan wouldn't.  Am I paranoid, miserable and irritable right now?  Yes, yes I am.  But I think I just encapsulated why John Beilein left.  College basketball is rotten to the core and he probably got tired of it.  Who wouldn't resent seeing their peers cheat with no repercussions?

I think this definitely had something to do with why he left.  How could it not?  He's been a college coach for more than long enough where he has choices - to retire, to stay and put up with it, or go do something else.  At 66 years old, he decided on the latter.  And BTW, he probably got more money and can now spend a lot more off-season time with his wife, kids, and grandchildren.

It's not the only reason he left, but one of them.

There are shadier coaches who are better at basketball that Pitino at this point.

As I've always said, let players get paid above-board and then let Michigan open up the money cannon.  When John Beilein quits college basketball because he, in part, can't deal with its shadiness, you might as well stop trying to play by the rules and just jump in.

If Warde had any stones he'd hire Pitino immediately.  Easily the best choice of available coaches and Top 10 of all coaches on the planet.  I'd much much rather have a borderline guy like Urban or Pitino who wins than a holy roller who doesn't. Rick would put the fear of God into every NCAA coach and elevate UM basketball even higher.

Urban & Pete Rose are both available as well. Don't think of John Wooden though, Kieth Jackson just announced that Wooden died today.

This is the only time I'm going to complain about this board not being like the old one. Remember when you could down vote someone for originating a thread? For this post I miss that feature.
