Sam Webb just confirmed that Ike has flipped to Michigan.

This class has gone from "man, DT is in trouble" to "there's a non-zero chance one of these guys winds up moving around to get playing time" in a minute.  Nice problems to have

This is all just bizarre. Like, I just don't even get it. Why in the world was Brown against DTs? He leaves and UM flips two and gains one almost instantly? Hopefully this is another lesson for Harbaugh and that while he can let the DC do his thing, he may need to keep a better eye on these completely bonkers situations like just not bringing in a whole position group.

It was and still will be his philosophy at Arizona. He believes in creating chaos with stunting including DL stunts constantly against the opposing OL so the QB has little time to throw. This can be done by playing man to man with your secondary. Lighter and faster DL are needed for this and especially the DE positions. The problem is when you face a very well coached offensive team who can block that chaos then you essentially have a free reign throwing the ball because you either live or die in man coverage. A huge problem when you face a team who can run and throw like OSU/PSU etc. Wisconsin is essentially a one dimensional running attack and Brown's defenses where not schematically fundamental against this type of well coached machine and this is why they have beat the shit out of Michigan the last couple of years. Even Urban Meyer commented about this without disrespecting Brown on TV. Brown has great stats as a DC but the teams he coached on overall were not that good. He was hired based upon his stats and I think was a poor choice after Durkin left. Brown won with Brady Hoke's defensive recruits at UM period and he was handed and excellent DL which he did not care for later on with his shitty recruiting and it was shitty

He wasn't against DTs - Michigan was in on Benny and Rooks for a good amount of time, and clearly both weren't against the idea of sticking with UM because they didn't commit when they had chances.  Now, maybe the uncertainty about the program and who stuck around turned them off, but this narrative that Brown hated DTs seems illogical to me.  Now maybe that's true and Nua really was limited in who he could recruit on that side of the ball but that also feels a bit like PR talk after Brown left to justify why they kept some guys around.

So is it safe to say it wasn't Nua's fault for the lack of tackles?  I'd say this all but confirms the reports he felt hamstrung in recruiting.

At this point, I don't know how we can come to any other conclusion (given the evidence we have at the moment) other than Brown was the problem, not Nua.

You'll never convince me it was just "pure coincidence" that we literally can't get a DT to save our lives for multiple classes and then as soon as Brown is gone we magically get a barrage of DT commitments?? Nah, that's no coincidence. Brown clearly just didn't believe in traditional DTs for whatever reason. And given how abysmal our DLs have been lately, I think we can all be thankful that Brown and his "reasons" are now someone else's problem.

I get that he did a great job early on, but that's when he had fantastic DLs bolstered by *SHOCK* strong DTs recruited by Hoke! Who coulda thunk it?? This isn't a Don Brown hate post, he put up some good numbers early on...but I can't say I'm sorry he's gone either.

I do vaguely remember Dudek saying the DL issues would be addressed in February. I guess he was right. Never thought we’d flip Benny. But Benny, Rooks and Ike is a nice start to getting a dline again!
