04/27/2018 - 1:34pm 7 Up - British documentary.

7 Up - British documentary.  Fascinating and the follow-ups are great, 14 Up, 21 Up, etc.

08/03/2017 - 11:14pm Suggestions

I just did this same trip in June.  Some suggestions:

1- If you are planning this trip for next year, then great.  Try and make a reservation at the Majestic Yosemite Hotel, one of two (the nicer of the two) hotels IN the park.  Staying outside the park means you have a long drive into the park every day.  It's a bit pricey, but it's a nice hotel.  It's also the inspiration for the Overlook Hotel in The Shining.  They also do cool, interesting events out of the hotel, including stargazing events which is great.

2- Transportation out of SFO to San Fran is tricky.  Yes, you can take the BART.  But it's old, loud as hell, and feels like it's about to fall apart at any moment.  But it will leave you right in the heart of downtown SF.  During your stay in the city, Uber or Lyft.  However, since you are going to Yosemite, you need to rent a car.  I like SilverCar.  They only rent late model Audi A4s, and they have great promotional rates for first time renters.  The drawback to having a rental car is the parking fees overnight while staying in SF.

3- Alcatraz is really interesting.  Do the audio tour.

4- Muir Woods is great.

5- Spend an afternoon in Golden Gate Park.

6- Finally, if you can manage it, go for breakfast at Plow in SF (but only on a weekday).

07/31/2017 - 10:33am Well done.

I laughed out loud at this.

12/30/2016 - 12:01pm I'll be there

Section 211.

Go Blue!

12/01/2016 - 12:55pm Kurt Taylor

That guy has always seemed so solid to Michigan.  What is the reason here for him being left out?  Another school in play?

10/20/2016 - 12:15pm ...

Lt. Frank Drebin: Hector Savage. From Detroit. Ex-boxer. His real name was Joey Chicago.

Ed Hocken: Oh, yeah. He fought under the name of Kid Minneapolis.

Nordberg: I saw Kid Minneapolis fight once. In Cincinnati.

Lt. Frank Drebin: No you're thinking of Kid New York. He fought out of Philly.

Ed Hocken: He was killed in the ring in Houston. By Tex Colorado. You know, the Arizona Assassin.

Nordberg: Yeah, from Dakota. I don't remember it was North or South.

Lt. Frank Drebin: North. South Dakota was his brother. From West Virginia.

Ed Hocken: You sure know your boxing.

Lt. Frank Drebin: All I know is never bet on the white guy.

[Nordberg nods in agreement]

10/10/2016 - 10:48pm Saddest scene

That unused ROTC push-up board is about as depressing as it gets.

10/07/2016 - 1:14pm The moon explodes?

Have you been reading Seveneves?

09/22/2016 - 5:23pm Pipe down, lefty!

08/24/2016 - 6:46pm Depends

Watching a game in person, you are out of luck.

Watching a game on TV that has DVR features - play the TV broadcast at a slight delay to match the radio broadcast - I've done it before and it works very well.

06/23/2016 - 9:30am Question

Is this something you seriously believe or are just mentioning for purposes of this thread?

03/30/2016 - 3:01pm Yes, but...

Yes, but will he qualify academically?

08/09/2015 - 1:51pm www.fftoolbox.com

I've run my own fantasy league for 17 years now.  In the first fifteen years, I won two championship.  I started using the fftoolbox ranking system the past two years and I've won two straight championship.

I've never going back.  They also have a ranking system where you can input your own league's unique scoring system to rank the players.

You're welcome.

01/23/2015 - 6:12pm Thank you for sharing.

Beautifully done.

01/23/2015 - 2:31pm Nice

Nicely said by a former great.

BTW, Einstein never said that.

11/19/2014 - 11:07am One trait

Competence.

08/12/2014 - 3:58pm Reactions

I agree that some of the reactions in this thread are disappointing.  It's much too easy to dismiss someone out of hand for something that affronts your sensibilities.

The punch was a terrible thing and Csont'e should definitely be punished for it because our actions carry consequences.  But as a 40 yr old man looking back at a lifetime full of youthful indiscretions, I am grateful for everyone who showed compassion rather than disdain.  I continue to hope that Hoke does right by Csont'e, whatever it is, rather than bow to public pressure.

08/12/2014 - 3:28pm Saban

I find myself siding with Nick Saban on this (I need to take a shower, ughh).

I don't think cutting him does anything for this young man.  I don't think that pushing your problems down the line making his life any better.  If there is truly a commitment on the part of the coaching staff to build better men then that you means that you can't take the high road and only work with what you deem are "good" kids.  These are kids.  17-18 year olds are kids and they make eralyl bad judgment calls sometimes.  You don't give up on them because of it.  I don't care if he ever sees the field again, but Hoke and this program could show its true merit by not giving up on this kid and making him someone better than he is.

04/25/2014 - 9:22am Ridiculous

For those passing judgment, if I had a nickel for every time I saw a certain Fab Fiver light it up across the hall from my dorm room with a certain defensive star of the football team.... I'd have paid off my college debt by now. Sad to see Mitch go under such crappy circumstances.

11/22/2013 - 9:14pm Agreed

As to my method, probably not fair and I understand that.  I've erred greatly in that respect.  I don't like messing with people's jobs or reputation and it was a lack of judgment on my part to do that in such a forum.

If you say it is a coincidence, I believe you since you've pretty much presented yourself as a forthright individual since you've been on board with the site.

However, the fact that you wrote an FSU preview however long ago has nothing to do with that particular phrase, since it referred to an event that occurred just yesterday.

11/22/2013 - 8:57pm Not plagiarism

Frankly, anything I put here will be met with vitriol, but I want to respond nonetheless.

I'm not accusing you of plagiarism, and maybe I could have chosen a better way of pointing this out, but I assumed you saw other previews, which is normal and typical and acceptable, and maybe that phrase got stuck in your head and you repeated it.  You do good work, and I enjoy reading your material.  Maybe just be more careful.  That's advice we can all heed in everything we do.

Also, you and Dylan being friends is irrelevant.

11/22/2013 - 8:24pm Presented without commentary...

MGOBLOG preview by Ace (posted at 3pm):

"but Florida State broke VCU's vaunted Havoc press time and again en route to an 18-point victory.."

UMHOOPS preview by Dylan Burkhardt (posted at 7:17a):

"The Seminoles broke VCU’s vaunted ‘Havoc’ full court press time and again and blew out the Rams, 85-67"

09/20/2013 - 10:09am Thank you for the post. ..

But can we ease off the clever nicknames that are assigned to certain plays. I forget what the heck Cable Zero Train referred to. This happens so much and its like you guys are trying to be cute or clever or speak in this kind of insider code that makes you feel special. It's annoying. My two cents. C
Carry on.

08/15/2013 - 7:44pm Same problem

Going on well over a year. abstract image won't upload. Image is right size... no one has provided an answer.

07/06/2013 - 7:06pm This post set a record...

For misconceptions and just utter wrongness. Congratulations!

07/05/2013 - 4:12pm Great pickup for the Wings

As a Panthers fan, I am sad to see Weiss go, but the Red wings are getting a solid player and a great lockerroom leader.

06/26/2013 - 6:43pm About Griese

It should be noted, and I knew him through acquiantances from high school, that I was aware, as well many others, that Brian was having a hard time dealing with the loss of his mother who died a few years before he started high school.  Going to college, away from your stern father figure, and still hurt by the loss of your mother, I can understand where a young man could act out in inappropriate ways.

I don't think he's a dick, I just think he was going through a rough time.

06/13/2013 - 1:49pm Nice try...

But John Hopkins only has two D-I teams (men's and women's lax).  Not quite the same comparison.

06/06/2013 - 10:03am More night games...

I feel for Coach Hoke not eating until after a night game is over.

05/30/2013 - 2:25pm ...

04/30/2013 - 1:18pm Nakfoor's son

We need a shirt.  That kid is great.

04/05/2013 - 8:20am I'm not making light of your condition...

but I first learned about Chronic Fatigue Syndrome on an episode of The Golden Girls.  No shit.

04/01/2013 - 2:55pm It's the "Big Sandwich"

And that was a great episode.

02/21/2013 - 12:45pm Albert Kahn

His illustrious father, design my fraternity house on 1331 Hill Street.

02/06/2013 - 3:53pm Excellent, excellent work.

Excellent, excellent work.

02/06/2013 - 10:32am Stanford

Am I reading this right?  Stanford has only 12 commits this year?

02/06/2013 - 10:23am How did the recap...

...completely fail to mention Hardaway's second half performance, which put us back in the game?

02/06/2013 - 10:20am Mike McCray

Mike McCray is among the unsubmitted.

02/06/2013 - 10:17am Maurice Hurst Jr.

Does anyone else think this kid is going to be a beast?

02/03/2013 - 10:38am Sons of former Big-Ten QBs

...seem to do pretty well here as walk-ons.

Go Blue!

01/28/2013 - 9:37pm As a fellow out-of-stater...

I agree completely with your assessment.

01/27/2013 - 3:15pm FL DB James Crawford

I know he already committed to Illinois, but I hope gets a last minute offer and comes this way.

12/26/2012 - 4:20pm BATMAN: Arkham City

Best game I've played in years.  Unbelievable.

11/23/2012 - 11:01am The Late Jimmy Mandich

The man was a treasure.

11/19/2012 - 2:45pm So...

where do you get a mini-GO BLUE banner?

11/02/2012 - 4:07pm Agreed

I've also had a speech impediment for as long as I could speak.  My level of empathy for fellow stutters is profound, because I know the struggle they go through.  Good luck to Quinton.

10/23/2012 - 5:31pm Every Afternoon

The majority of my time at Michigan was spent living on Sylvan Ave, just about a block and half away from Yost.  At the time, if I recall correctly, the marching band would practice where the indoor football facility is now.  Every afternoon, I could hear the band loud and clear from our house.  It remains one of my fondest memories.

10/12/2012 - 4:51pm UM-MSU 2010

Best seats I've ever had...

10/02/2012 - 1:50pm Oh Yeah...

"I'm convinced the Wolverines found a very complete tight end in Butt."

Well done, sir.
