I'm sure I'll get negged for this but does osu really give a coach a good shot at competing for a national championship? They've missed the playoffs the last 2 years and the year before that they made it and got spanked. And they no longer have the coach that took them there and instead have a rookie head coach. I know everyone is anti Harbaugh right now but looking I'm not sure osu is in a much better spot than UM going into next season.

We'd probably have to assign the "Co-Defensive Coordinator" title and shell out a pretty big raise. FWIW Mattison and the guy they hired from the Niners are splitting the Co-D Coordinator title at OSU, so I doubt they would be in a position to offer that to Washington as well.

Question becomes what do you do with Partridge? I think he is our most indispensable defensive recruiter. We can find guys that can recruit Ohio. Georgia and Jersey recruiting aces would be much more difficult to find.

If I have to prioritize (which clearly I do not), I would save title and big money promotions on that side of the ball for Partridge and do the best I can for Washington. If OSU gives him a better offer, tip of the cap, we'll fine.

If DB is staying I see Washington staying. I can't imagine us not matching, or increasing, the salary offered by OSU. But on another note, go F yourself OSU and back off our coaches.

Michigan is a better and more respected university, and our athletic department doesn't have a recent history of shady ethics and management.

Sheesh, people act like OSU is nirvana or something. I get it, they win the game against us. Ok. Did everyone at OSU want to jump to Michigan in the 90's?

A more respected university? Have you heard of the research hospital at Ohio State? Or their business school? It's garbage like that that makes us look ridiculous as a fan base, and quite frankly, it should.

As far as the football program. OSU absolutely is superior right now. You're ridiculous if you can't acknowledge that. Could that change? I sure hope so. Although I'm not sure it will with this current coach who seems to turn 5* recruits into distant memories, or the laughing stock of the entire freaking state of Ohio when they insist on pounding their chest and guaranteeing wins "next time". Even while I write this, they are STILL laughing at us as a program. Hell, the entire OSU fan base are bigger fans of JH than WE are.

So maybe cut the "we're just as good as they are" crap. We're not academically superior, or morally superior, and we're sure as hell not athletically superior. That's the attitude that has made us their whipping boy for 2 decades now and it needs to stop.

You are making a lot of assumptions here.

1.  I'm from Columbus and still have a lot of family there.  I have no interest in ever going back.

2.  Ohio State is a better team?  Well, they certainly have our number lately, but in terms of resources, facilities, money cannons, prestige, atmosphere... I'd say Michigan is at least on par, if not better.  I'm not sure that head-to-head records would be very far up the list in importance to - you know - a coach who is partially responsible for the head-to-head record.

3.  Bottom line is that we have no frigging clue what the variables are in his decision, what offers are on the table, nor what opportunities are there at either place.

Nearly a day later, congrats you proved me wrong.

You didn't show up that night to take your deserved beating on an ill thought out thread bashing a coach on the stuff with very little credence .
