B1G! B1G! B1G!

Looking like 7-0 heading into the Michigan game tomorrow.

Bama and Georgia better win or the Playoff committee is going to have egg all over their face. Good news is it might finally force a 6 or 8 team playoff.

Will be interestering to see how ESPN tries to spin it.

But by next season no one will care except for a few diehard B1G fans on message boards. To the rest of the world it will be a distant memory, and then these games will happen:

M @ Notre Dame

OSU @ TCU

MSU @ AZ State

PSU @ Pitt

Iowa State @ Iowa

Notre Dame @ NW

Colorado @ Nebraska

BYU @ Wisconsin

Missouri @ Purdue

And as always the perception of the conference will be shaped by how it fares in September instead of in the previous bowl season. Particularly those first two games.

the B1G will win the bowl challenge no matter what happens to us.  If we win as well, the B1G will be the best "perfect record" conference since it started.  Big East went 5-0 in 2006/2007 and the Pac 10 went 5-0 in 2009/2010.  8-0 will be damn hard to beat...

1) Three different defensive coordinators in the past three years. Shit recruiting. And yet somehow they have a great defense again?

2) They went 7-6 and “won” the Big Ten a few years back

3) They have gone to the Rose Bowl 6 times since Alvarez and you can make the argument that not once in all that time have they been the best team in the conference.

4) Can you remember a year ever when Wisconsin actually had to play the best teams in the conference? Every year they marginally don’t have the top 2 teams in the BIG on their schedule.

I think Barry Alvarez sold his soul to the devil.

I think Wisc shows without a doubt what a team can do with a stomping OL and good power back and average defense.  Obviously they practice the hell out of their running but they're going to mow down most inferior competition and be in every game against better opponents.  Their formula is pretty simple and not flashy and doesn't seem to be very much subject to boom or bust swings.  Alvarez is straight from the Hayden Fry coaching tree -- its not so hard to imagine they're kind of like Super-Iowa.

Then get a QB like Hornibrook who can start dropping dimes at certain times and you'll beat even more of those good teams.

1) So it's all luck they run a system and know how to coach guys up? You're too focused on recruiting stars clearly. 2) They went 8-5 that year 3) They were most certainly the best team in the conference in 1993, 1999, 2010, and 2011. 4) They've beaten OSU and MSU a hell of a lot more than we have over the last ten years. Not to mention just beat Miami in their own stadium. When is the last time we won a big game like that?
