but I don't know if I agree with #3. QB was the most serioius deficiency, but it wasn't helped by an O line that let two QB's get put in an ambulance, and wideouts who rarely helped the QB.
If we have solid QB play all year I think we have a good shot at beating MSU and OSU, but neither are sure thigns. PSU I don't know if we win with the status quo. Wisci I think is up in the air at Camp Randall.
Either way, we have a shot at the B1G title but it's not a given. Next year though....

While it's true that Harbaugh will adjust the offense to his players skillsets (see: early season 2015, and all of 2017), he is recruiting for his offense. He is evolving it into an NFL passing spread - hence Pep Hamilton and the bounty of wide outs and Gronk-like TEs that run like the wind. He will adjust some things to suit the QB, but mostly he wants a QB that can run an NFL offense. He's got two right now, and wants a third as much for depth as for a possible upgrade.
He didn't have the parts on the field in 2015, was subpar in a few of areas in 2016 (QB, WR, RB - as good as they were), and had to start over in 2017. In 2018 he'll finally have all the pieces, but they'll need some seasoning. He's already proven an ability to out-scheme Meyer's staff all over the field, and now he'll finally have the athletes to match at each position.
Patterson, if he comes and is eligible, may not start - Peters and McCaffrey will be valid competitors. But he will add a jolt of 'oh, shit - competition' that may not have been there otherwise...

I just have a super hard time buying that Shea is transferring anywhere, and not starting immediately. I hope it is a true open competition, and best man wins...I just dont know if I can wrap my mind around it.
Im not saying that Harbaugh wont give all the QBs a shot, but this season made me lose a little faith when he was playing JOK in front of ANYONE on the roster. I'm sure it will all work out though, I am excited to have NFL quality talent at the QB position for the first time since Carr left (minus Ruddock).

a Crystal Ball pick from him is a very educated guess. A Gut Feeling is based on insider information.
Just remember: like every man, his gut is above his balls.

Show me a time when Harbaugh didn't adjust things for the QB he needed to play...
... Waiting ...
If either Peters or McCaffrey possess more playbook knowledge, and the ability to run it effectively - without turnovers - they will start. We've heard for three years now that Harbaugh will choose the QB that best avoids montrous mistakes. And we now have first hand knowledge that you need to know the playbook (ie: Peters couldn't overtake JOK for #2).
Personally, I hope all three prove thier ability to move the offense and avoid mistakes. Make Harbaugh choose between all three of them, and make it a difficult choice. Yet somehow, I think Harbaugh would absolutely love that challenge...

Pretty sure we've had ample discussion on this board about all the changes Harbaugh made to the offense to try to find something, anything, that O'Korn could run effectively. And then there's how we switched our entire running blocking scheme at the start of the year then when that didn't work well switched back. Harbaugh has been plenty flexible.

What do you mean by "change his playbook"? If you're asking if he'll abandon the NFL passing spread he wants in favor of the college ZR and simple routes favored by the high school coach Ole Miss employed, no. Jim MF'ing Harbaugh is not going to abandon his NFL offense because a single player can't execute it. Especially when there are two other high-end options that probably can execute it.
If you're asking whether he'll implement some concepts that are tailored to a specific QB's talents, hell yes he'll do that! We've already seen that several times, too.

My answer to your question: No, I expect/want Harbaugh to stick with what he knows - his NFL offense. If Patterson can't run it, then I wouldn't say he is more talented than those who can. If he can't run it, he won't play in the NFL, while those who can run it, will.
Harbaugh has set up his coaching staff, and geared his recruiting targets, to run a modern NFL passing spread. Throwing all of that away for one player would be a travesty. Teams win championships, not players. A single player can put you over the top (see: DeShaun Watson), but football isn't basketball.

Pattersons strength, via film, is when plays break down... he is sublimely elusive and averse to sacks.... so your point is moot here.

is a top priority for '18, and securing this transfer could/should greatly assist in that endeavor

Im not sure how credible chat sports is, but this sounds nice. Highly doubt Patterson is a Heisman favorite either... But look forward to a QB competition, and hopefully a solidified O-line and Reciever corps.

You honestly may not know what chats sports is, but you still deserve the wrath that is coming (especially posting twice).

Yeesh... Chatsports is, ahem, not good. In fact, its far worse than Bleacher Report ever was. Its sad that anyone has even heard of chatports, which makes posting a link to it... Well, sad...

Yeah. I never really thought Little would end up here. I think if we end up with guys it will be what I call "The 3 Sons." Patterson, Anderson, and Jefferson.

message board posters. They have no sources and a history of making things up, for clicks or just to stir things up.

1) Isn't chatsports banned on MGo? Or was it just anything by their Ace? Wasn't it found out that he was like a 16 year old kid or something?
2) Random MGo posters that have been here for a while and have a decent posting history are usually very credible. I believe that's how the Shea to M rumors started (or maybe they stole it from pay sites, IDK).

and some have sources. I'd rank Chatsports credibility behind our average random poster, not just them.
Certain elements of our board police may be misguided or go overboard at times, but the overall effect is to make the info shared here more credible.

But I'll wait for confirmation on Counter Strike before I get excited.
December 6th, 2017 at 9:10 AM ^
I think this works out well. As the offensive line is breaking in two new tackles, they may need a mobile guy to escape and make plays. I'm sure Peters can hang just fine with Patterson in the throwing dept., may even be better but he is a pocket guy and will stand in there in a hellstorm and make throws. This tends to allow him to absorb some pretty big shots.
It's no guarantee that Patterson wins the #1 spot, or is it guaranteed that the O line can keep the starter healthy the entire season. UM needs 2 quality QB's.

He would be a hell of an addition to the OL....

AND WHO SAYS WE CANNOT GET MISSISSIPPI RECRUITS????
December 6th, 2017 at 12:01 PM ^
I'm probably wrong here but I just don't see him as a fit for Michigan's offense. He obviously has great talent and experience, but the accuracy and touch seemed to be lacking and I never saw him go under center.
He seems like a better fit for Oklahoma or Baylor.
