Mo Hurst robbed of Big Ten DL of the year award, goes to Bosa

Submitted by CaliforniaNobody on

An absolute joke. If you're going off of stats, Winovich blows Bosa out of the water, and if you're going off performance he's been the best DL, maybe even best player, in the country according to PFF. An attrocity.

Chase Winovich deserved this award, he's better than Bosa.  Gary is great, but he wasn't close to as productive as Winovich.

Bosa did not deserve it.  28 tackles only?  Hurst and Chase deserved it more than Bosa.  Heck, MSU's walkon, Willikes deserved it more than Bosa.

So not only does OSU buy refs, they buy individual awards, too. There is a reason Hurst is pretty much a lock for the top-ten.

You know, I have always wanted to ask the committees that decide these things why they voted for a particular person in situations like this where the result seems very strange and not in an amusing way. The sad thing is that I also have this image of getting a horseshit answer too, so I end up not bothering.

Time for a Special Council on Delaney and the B1G Conference.  Stop all this investigation into all this Russia crap and get to the investigation on Delaney.  The collusion between him and OSU is getting ridiculous.

Who does the voting for these awards?  Media?  Coaches?  Conference administration?

This is beyond my ability to understand how Bosa finishes on top of this list.  He is not the best DL on his own f'ing team.

If they are going to hand out such awards, there damn sure should be some accountability.

I don’t have a PFF subscription, but from what I can gather Hurst and Bosa were not that far apart in their grading. PFF has been consistently grading both in the 96-98 range for individual games.

UM is well represented on the all star teams. How important though, is an individual honor if the team went from 3rd place in the division to fourth?

There is no "hurst" in "team".  The bigger issues are team results and doing less with more.

A coach is able to meet a fresh-faced recruit and ask, "How would you like to be the next db to remind the UM fans of what is was like to watch Charles Woodson roam the field at the Big House? or Desmond destroy opposing defenses or Ty doing the same? These individual awards, like Heismans and AA status, etc., are sometimes the coach's best friend and gives them an immediate ice breaker that allows that recruit to immedieately imagine themselves in that blue jersey with that number on their back and all the glory attached thereto. They matter. Anything you can do to separate your school from others matters. That is the major reason people are upset with ND, watching them win NCs with two losses or a tie to another undefeated team, having their players win Heismans they shouldn't have won like Paul Hornung over Jim Brown among others. Believe me, much easier to recruit with these in your arsenal than without. Plus, damnit, if a player deserves it, give it to them. They only get one crack at it. Even the only two time Heisman winner was awarded to a resident of Columbus. Cumong.

When did Notre Dame win a NC with two losses? That never happened. And you're bringing up Notre Dame winning NCs in the 40s and Archie Griffin winning two Heismans 40 years ago as your argument? I hope this is sarcasm. I'm pretty sure actually winning championships sells itself more than being an award winner, but that's just me.

and of course we will think differently. However, I don't like to see players get robbed of inividual awards. I'm ok with your stance on not having them, therefore putting the team first and inarguably so, but as long as they have these individual awards I think they should go to the person that deserves them.

you apparently don't deserve the Top DLineman award in the conference --- NOT!!!!!

What a joke. Maurice Hurst is a Top Ten draft pick. Hurst will be sorely missed at Michigan.

The B1G is biased vs. Jim Harbaugh.  It shows in everything that they can do to hurt Michigan on and off the field....they are doing it.

To Hell with Jim Delaney and his Lifetime Contract.

Mo complained about the holding calls the day before the individual awards came out and the league snubbed him with a sophomore Bosa. They could have chosen another senior, but Delany is such a prick he chose some rotating underclassman from OSU. Delany is the biggest D-bag on the face of the earth.

We shouldn't actually become independent, but just threaten to become independent if they don't stop with this stuff to scare them out of doing this absurd stuff anymore. Threatening to take a ton of their income away from them is the only thing that will wake them up. Money is all they care about.

People think we're crazy with this B1G conspiracy thing. But I gotta say: the conference is doing absolutely nothing to help their case in that discussion, and they are doing more and more to hurt it.

The Big Ten has too respectful of a history to be tarnished with this pure absurdity.
