One job opening taken... according to Pete Buckeye Thamel of ESPN, the former Ohio State head coach, Chris Holtmann will be DePaul's next coach with a six-year contract with the Blue Demons.
Maybe with new OC, Chip Kelly's offense, Alford would have a reduced role and isn't happy about it. Sort of like Mike Hart? It would certainly add spice to the rivalry.
sports notes: If UM and OSU both win their next hockey games, the championship game will be at Yost on March 23rd. Also the Wolverine Invitational Water polo tournament ( free) is Sat/ Sun March 23/24 at Canham Natatorium.
As for places to see, Krazy Jim's Blimpy Burger is no longer behind West Quad, it has moved over on Ashley but still worth the wait and insults. Further north on Ashley is the Washtenaw Dairy, another Ann Arbor institution.
Aside from the Law Library and Law Quad, most of the campus university spots have been mentioned. Hill , Rackham, Michigan Theater are definitely worth seeing again. On March 28 at Rackham ( free UM Jazz Ensemble) 28 https://smtd.umich.edu/event/28-march-2024/
Main Street is still has great spots for restaurants and bars. The Blue Llama for jazz is excellent.
And a tourist can never go wrong going to Zingerman's/ Farmers Market/ Filling Station (vegan) in the cobblestone part of town on Detroit street.
Thanks IBMnB! I was following with you and M Hockey on X while watching Luka destroy the Pistons with the Mgokid. Both games had some good brawling. Go Blue!
Great topic! We should have a running OT board with Books and one with Music
Read most of the classic sci-fi books in a UM Engineering Humanities class starting with Frankenstein, through Dune, and ending with some Arthur C. Clarke ( the best sci-fi IMHO).
Diving into Burn Book: A Tech Love Story by Kara Swisher.
Kara is speaking on campus in 10 days with GM CEO, Marry Barra, details here
I was fortunate enough to be a WH tour guest of a Presidential staffer before 9/11 security, while that particular President was out of the country, so we could even peer into the Oval Office. It was one of my best experiences and made me extra proud to be an American.
Thanks Andrew for the reply and suggestions. That documentary was on Netflix is exactly what spurred our curiosity and really learned a lot from it.
We'll probably go from Nashville down the Natchez Trace and do many of the things you suggest ( Keller House/ FLW house) wearing our NC gear in Alabama lol. I am a big Lewis and Clark fan and Merriweather Lewis has a memorial on NT trail near where he shot himself. His life was so incredible and sad.
We also have this odd thing about seeing all 50 states and MgoWife hasn't been to Mississippi so we may sneak over to Tupelo and see the Elvis stuff. Total tourist stuff.
Nick is correct and is the GOAT. He is 72 with nothing to prove. Times have changed and he needed to move on. Being an analyst is a great transition and more sane life style.
Side note: The MgoWife and I going to Muscle Shoals, AL to see the music studios. Has anyone done this? Any recommendations of other things to do?
Very true. Seems like the SEC and B10 are pushing for a 12 or 16 team playoff where each conference is guaranteed 4 spots which would definitely minimize the importance of a singular regular season game.
I'm a traditionalist but last year marked the end of "do or die" for "The Game" for me. It's sad but that's reality. With the new set up it may not even make sense to play them the last week of the regular season.
Both UM and OSU, along with Oregon on paper right now seem likely to make the new tournament and then it's a combination of luck, staying healthy, running the ball, and playing good defense. We may go to 16 teams and then throw in PSU as well. Stuff happens . We'll see.
Still enjoying very much being the reigning NC and like the staff Moore has assembled and who we have coming back.
Between the Dexter Bakery, the drive-in A & W, Dairy Queen, and in football season the Dexter Cider Mill one can get all the fine culinary cuisine in a few square blocks.
If it makes you feel any better the Big10 teams that do get in the Big Dance will get early exits including Purdue. With our team being unwatchable, I do watch more big12 basketball and the level of play there is on a totally different planet this year.

Good luck GW wherever things take you.

Switched away from this unwatchable game. Glad to see that the Pistons are playing well and lead the Raptors by 13 late in the 4th.
This was happening during the 37th anniversary of Woody Hayes' passing.
If Day doesn't win a natty this year, he gone.
There seems to be more rumblings at 11W.

The jer$ey patch curse is real!
Six straight losses outscored by a combined 32-11.
Without Larkin, and with the patch, the Wings are an older version of the Pistons.
( despite the bitching, I'm going next Thursday to see them play the Isles. Kind of a huge game all of a sudden).

The film festival is worth a look. The A2obsever event calendar has most all events, including UM sports:

It's almost 70 degrees and sunny, play the U golf course.
Kudos to Iowa fans and WBB. The level of support for their team is pretty incredible and great for the sport.

most important 10 minute stretch of the season ( so far).
in WBB, both O$U and Sparty lost in the first round of the BT tourney. UM plays Indiana soon... and women's hoops is better officiated.
got to be 5 minutes NOW
First team to 7 wins. 4-3 them
4-2 them. This is a joke
WTH?!! I can't watch this....
another twilight zone game
ugh!
Shitarski special

Casey is sick
#9 Michigan women's water polo beat #19 Harvard in their last game 12-8.
The top 7 schools are all in California. Not bad for a big10 team.
Well said!

Best wishes to Coach Moore and his SotU visit.
(Maybe some good recruits in DC? just sayin..)
Weeellll.
I was hoping we could steal their goaltender.

That was Flint's own Joel Thompson I believe. Nicknamed "change" and also "Windex" for cleaning the glass.

Lots of alcohol and the Spring Football game.

Didn't watch. Don't care.
Spent the day outside in 65 degrees and sunshine.
I'm going with MgoSon to see Pistons-Mavs on Saturday so cheer loud for me. We need better goaltending to beat ND.
Endzone tickets are available for ND game Friday. Winner of that series takes on Sparty.
Yay again for the elbow pass..
