Best to go into this game expecting the worst. I'm planning to work on decorating the Xmas tree and have the game on in the background; I just can't bring myself to dedicate 3.5 hours of my holiday weekend solely to watching what seems like it's going to be a curb-stomping.

Angry Michigan Quarterbacks Ever Making It To OSU-Hating God is the worst of the pantheon. Consider:

  • AIRBHG is wroth but the position is so deep they can put a Jewish fullback in and still be fine.
  • Angry Michigan Safety-Hating God had just one good season, that was 12 years ago.
  • Angry Michigan Secondary-Hating God was too generalist and anyway he retired after the 2010 Woolfolk mic-drop.
  • Angry Michigan State Off-Field Incident-Causing God is almost completely mitigated by Dantonio's willingness to put those guys right back on the field anyway

In the last decade, we have only had two QBs play against Ohio State who were not either injured or first time starters in The Game.  Two.

Denard in '11 and Devin in '14.

Everybody else was either a first time starter against Ohio State, or played injured against Ohio State . . . or both.

Henne in '07 - injured

Sheridan in '08 - first time starter

Forcier in '09 - first time starter

Denard in '10 - first time starter

Devin in '12 - first time starter

Devin in '13 - played injured

Rudock in '15 - first time starter and injured

Speight in '16 - first time starter and injured

That's some serious hate.

I say we run the Georgia tech Paul Johnson offense. That would really fuck with the buckeyes. I hope we empty the cupboard in terms of timely trick plays, and packages that have not been used this season

they know the truth and reality of a stiuation that others may want to gloss over.

I had a friend at work today ask me if the Wolverines are finally going to break out of the Meyer-OSU losing streak or if the Buckeyes were going to , and all I could reply was, we have no quarterbacks to embrace this challenge with any reasonable optimism of winning.

And, ultimately, for most of us I think, this is what has driven so much of the negative response out of the Wisconsin loss and more specificiallly, Peters knockout. Michigan fans love their team under any circumstances, but they also are realists about prospects and opportunity.  And whether we handle our emotions well or express it appropriately at times, we just want to celebrate our team again in beating this scourge from Columbus.

But we are screwed for Saturday.  O'Korn would have to be better than he was against Purdue - his best game at Michigan by far - to give the Wolverines a reasonable chance.  People talking about winning this game are just making the board's reaction to the inevitable loss that much worse.

This is serious....I think we need to throw deep A LOT to open anything else up.  I know we don't give much protection so roll him out, make some QB throwbacks to alleviate immediate pressure and chuck it deep against OSU's not-amazing secondary....in order to open things up underneath and open something of a run game.

Gentry will start at QB, throw for 300 yards, scramble in a for a game-saving touchdown, take J.T. Barrett's mother Stacy Barrett out for a nice seafood dinner, and never call her again.
