Ok guy. The simple truth is Dantonio is a good coach and if you turn the ball over to ANY team with a good coach, you’re gonna lose. Like pretty much everytime. We didn’t get the breaks, it happens. It’s gonna be all right.

There is not a coach alive that I would trade Harbaugh for, not one. Well maybe I’d think about Sith Lord Belichek, but you get my drift. We have the right guy, he will win a lot of games for UM. End of story. You wanna hold his feet to the fire about potential nepotism or an unwieldy coaching structure, maybe you have a point. Maybe. Either way, he ain’t going anywhere soon, god forbid, so either get used to it or go find the aforementioned cliff.

We don't throw 3 picks if we run the ball when it was working! It's fucking pouring and we threw the ball when we just ran for 2 straight first downs. We were out coached. Dantonio was a better coach on the road with lesser recruits. You can be okay with that but I'm not. After we lose 4 more this year you will come around too. PSU, osu, Wisconsin and probably one more.

That the 2 fumbles were more costly than the 3 INTs, right? The 2 fumbles had a potential 10-point swing (1 fumble led to 7 MSU points, the other removed a FG for us). We keep those 2 fumbles off the stat sheet, the 3 INTs wouldn't matter, esp. since the monsoon removed any threat from any offense to ever play the game of football ever.

Right, they sure look good.... a couple weeks ago you all made jokes about dantonios name and 3-9 but as soon as we lose again at home to him you praise him as a god. Well I'm tired of excuses. You think dantonio is making excuses for last year? No, he came back and whooped us for the 8th time in the last decade. Attrition, shitty coaches, not "his guys." Rich rod and hoke had more NFL talent on the o line after 3 years than harbaugh. Wake up, the only o line with a pulse is a hoke guy.

No one is praising Dantonio as a god except MSU fans who rightfully so are not going to take off their knee pads.  He's the best thing that ever happened to you -OOPS I mean them.  The best thing that ever happened to them!

We'll accept that Dantonio is a good coach, he is also a major douchebag and has no ethical floor whatsoever.  That will always get some some wins just like how the thugs up the street were able to egg someone's house on Devil's Night and then run away.

The boys in green will always be able to disrupt someone's season.  Beyond that, well....  oh how did that last bowl appearance work out for you, when you were on top?  On fire?  You managed to score a FG right?  oh wow.... sorry.... not even 3 points?  Damn!  Sorry.  That probably still stings a bit.

College football is about beating your rivals. It can get to a point where futility against your rivals outweighs any other victories or accomplishments you have. Just ask John Cooper.

happens to be one of the best programs out there right now, with a top notch coach.  I am not saying it should be as one-sided as it has been, but that rivalry game is a lot different than most.

Not many of the true rivalry games feature top 10-15 programs, so winning rivalry games is not always as meaningful as it may seem, or as difficult.

But that does not mean Harbaugh is overrated. UM lost theee of those games by 12 points total. One on a fluke, another in double OT, and another in a game impacted by bad weather and with a backup QB.

Out of all the things Harbaugh gets blamed for, and all the things he is given a pass for, I am continually stunned by how many people give him a complete pass for the "fluke" punt, which is actually one of the few things you can definitevely, positively, without any question identify that he did wrong.

There is no excuse to have had gunners split off on that play.  None.  Zero. That was not a tricky aspect to notice, it wasn't some subtle small-percentage-at-the-margins that was overlooked.  That was an epic failure of coaching, that may very well have cost Michigan that game.

I think it's ridiculous to say Harbaugh is overrated, just as it's ridiculous to throw out his long track record as a successful coach because the team has some holes this year.  I think there are two absolutely legitimate things Harbaugh deserves criticism for:

First is the lack of a QB in year 3.  True freshman are starting and being successful for National Title contending teams (Alabama last year, Georgia this year, plus plenty of other examples).  It's really not acceptable that QB bad is so play, even if you write off his first recruiting class, he should at least have a RS freshman ready to play.  But this isn't indictment of his overall coaching ability or of his future success; it's something that he whiffed on that he shouldn't have that it's legitimate to criticize.

And the second is that so-called "fluke" punt block.  That was inexcusably bad gameday coaching.  Again, it doesn't say much about his overall ability or career trajectory, but it's baffling to see people casually write this off as an act of God that he had no role in.

The punter is supposed to look over the formation and if it don't look right take the delay of game and then get the protection right.

In the sense that the head coach is ultimately responsible it's Harbaugh's fault.

And that's why Baxter's back at USC...

Given his record everywhere he has been

Given his record at Michigan

Given his love of Michigan and everything it stands for

Given the hell we were going through for 7 years before he got here

Wake up.  Count our blessings.  Pull for Jimmy and our team

One of the most fascinating things about the last week is probably the people who seemed utterly shaken by that loss, to the point where some even entertained the idea that Harbaugh might not be the answer. Then again, if your only ways to measure success are wins and losses and the record against the rivals, especially in a time when we're experiencing stability as a program for the first time in nearly a decade, then it is impossible to discern what your expectations may be as they are so high as to be undetectable without a telescope.

Sorry LSA but this is close to a dishonest take because while I have seen a lot of people questioning some of the coaching decisions, I have not seen one person yet on here actually say they wanted Harbaugh gone. Can you point out one person specifically who has said that? Just curious because it seems to be that most on here are jumping to defend against an argument that hasn't been made.

If this isn't underperforming then I don't know what is.

Next year will be the big year. B1G champs or bust.

No one sane is saying he should be fired but cut his salary just a little bit. He needs to earn his salary back imo and beating OSU this year would do that

Because his value is whatever the free market decides it is. And when you’re competing against the NFL for a coach, it’s going to drive his price up. You arbitrary saying he doesn’t ‘deserve’ it carries no weight and makes no sense.
