OT: ESPN host Ryen Russillo arrested for criminal entry while on vacation in WY
Yesterday, dedicated ESPN employee Ryen Russillo tried his level best to push the Robert Lee fiasco out of the news cycle.
ESPN executives: "How the fuck is this only Thursday?? This week has lasted a month."
Money quote from SI.com writeup (LINK):
Ryen Russillo, the host of The Russillo Show on ESPN Radio, was arrested in Jackson, Wy., on Wednesday for misdemeanor criminal entry, a charge that is similar in nature to trespassing.
The police were reportedly called by a couple after Russillo entered their condo and refused to leave. A probable cause affidavit states obtained by the Jackson Hole News & Guide that Russillo was found "lying on the bed in the south bedroom naked except for his pants around his ankles" at around 3:30 a.m.
Before you holier-than-thou types cast stones, who among us hasn't entered someone else's condo uninvited, refused to leave, then passed out naked (except for pants around the ankles)? Judge not, lest you something-something-ESPN.

Or as Robert Downey Jr. calls it, "Wednesday evening."

As Charlie Sheen says, you're not paying the woman for sex, you're paying her to go home afterwards!

What's the deal with "Year of Revenge II" using an actual photo of himself? What is this, Tinder? Creepy.
August 25th, 2017 at 8:29 AM ^
And just what makes you say that is an actual photo of me?

You can keep the tip.

Was going to post yesterday, but did not. He was on vacation, probably in the same condo complex using Air bnb or something, and went into the wrong unit while blackout drunk. Sucks, but I really hope he doesn't get fired for it. It's just a dumb mistake from being somewhere unfamiliar/ pretty loaded.

my first beer also. Last time I wandered into someone elses place that drunk I was in college. Once I left school and hit the working world I kind of got that out of my system.

Never heard of this guy, but I haven't watched ESPN for anything other than live games in many years (and before that, only College Gamedday as the additional programming).

He was with Scott Van Pelt for a while and then after SVP left, Russillo got his own show with Kanell. Exit Kanell and now he has his own show. He's tolerable to listen to.
I can't wait to hear his story though - it's gotta be good right?

Not to beat a dead horse but I listen to the Russillo Show podcast every day, Danny Kannell......jesus. What a piece of work. Right up there with Cowherd on the jerk scale except Cowherd has a decent thought every once in a while.

He's the only personality on ESPN radio that I follow - to the point of giving at least an hour of his podcast a daily listen. Few scalding takes, good BB knowlege, dry sense of humor. Hope he survives.

I've always liked him, He knows his stuff, basketball in particular.

I don't know how much help he "clearly needs." Just needed some friends to be with him while on vacation/ still out at the bar -- I think most of us have been pretty damn blackout before and may not know exactly which room staying in without a little help from others -- I agee though, not at forty something.
I'm not saying he is in the right or didn't take it way too far or anything -- I'm just saying his mistake is at least a feasible one given the circumstances.

Agreed -- and I know I'm just assuming -- but I just feel like if it's your first night or so there and you go into 395 instead of 295 or something because you are blackout drunk and unfamiliar with the building, it's not the same as wandering up to a random house down the street.

You ever been blackout drunk?
I don't drink much at all now that I am no longer in my 20's. There is this weird phenomenon, though, that every once in a blue moon I somehow have WAAAY too much to drink. It's probably happened twice in the last 7-8 years. The last time I got blackout drunk I almost pulled down a friend's entertainment stand trying to catch myself as I fell...
When you are that drunk, you can shit in a mailbox, fall out of a tree, go back and dry hump the mailbox, go back and dry hump the tree, etc. None of what you do is really YOU anymore.
I don't have a substance abuse problem. I drink less than most of my peers. If you get carried away with alcohol - even once - this kind of stuff can happen. All that has to happen is the right mix of circumstances that make you have one too many, because once you have had one too many, you're easily able to have 12 too many. Imagine being an ESPN personality on top of that? Everyone trying to buy you drinks / shots at the bar.
It's not GOOD what he did. But it is pretty naive to assume there is alcoholism based on a single stupid night.
Clarification: I do not believe I have ever dry humped anything while drunk.

I'm with you. My natural bias is to side against ESPN in almost anything, but moving an announcer from a UVA/FCS game to a Pittsburgh/FCS game seems like the obvious choice. If there is some car dealer named Orenthal James Sampson, I'd suggest he sell BMWs, not Fords.

In college I woke up in a random house, the people were actually pretty cool about it the next morning and thankfully didnt beat my ass or call the cops. They let me sleep in peace and when I woke up they shared their stories. To this day I still think about how ignorant that was and how thankful I am nothing bad happened.

So was it The Mad Hatter or MeanJoe? I think we can narrow it down to those two as the most likely suspects.
And eating leaves off of trees points to MeanJoe.
