The call lasted one minute, so I guess you could still play the misdial card. I just saw that he abandoned his buyout by resigning and not getting fired. There must be more coming.

That's the beauty of Houston Nutt's lawsuit. More will come out that the NCAA couldn't get without subpoena power.

It never amazes me what stupid things people do to throw their amazing lives away.

If you're going to call a hooker, why the hell do you do it on your SCHOOL PHONE?   Good lord man, get a prepaid phone.  You're a millionaire.  You can get a new prepaid phone every time you want a hooker if you like.

They're taking a page from the OSU playbook. Fire Freeze, then tell the infractions committee that it was all his fault and they should go easy on the school now that he's gone.

To think...this all could've been avoided if Hugh Freeze watched The Wire. Burner 101. That's the shit Game of Thrones can't teach you all!!

Seems like a good service would be more discreet and allow for some cover for it's clients. Rename the escort business with a more conventional cover - like a catering company. Make it easier for dudes to expense the chapagne room.

Well, one has to feel for those escorts in Northern Mississippi who now have to resort back to doing business with the local population instead of Div. I football players who have the cash fronted.

The SEC guidelines are very explicit here:

1) Use your personal cell for such calls

2) Stand a minimum of 100 feet from the building or, if appropriate clearances cannot be maintained, in an area with poor acoustics

3) Do not use a campus address for the actual pickup.

Any violation of one or more of these initiates a Hypocrisy Clause, whereby you can be terminated for something several members of the Board Of Regents have done, often habitually and for years.

how many burner phones is the dude supposed to carry?

He's got one for illegal recruiting contacts, one for calling in the bagmen, one for the drugs/booze delivery to players, one for his secret second family... you can't have a separate phone for everything.

well, that's also my fear too...

but something seems off... Freeze didn't try to fight something that seems innocous...a one minute phone convo? I mean, unless there is some follow up evidence, it seems rather harmless and could have been portrayed simply as an error in judgement without evidence of any other interactions...

i'd keep digging... Freeze fell on his sword awfully fast imo

I think the "blame it all on Freeze" ship has already sailed. The university stood by him and basically told the NCAA to fuck off. They even doubled down on that sentiment in their statements tonight- specifically stating that this has nothing to do with the other "allegations". Get your popcorn ready, the fun is just getting started.

Press conference at 8:30 on ESPNews in case anyones interested.

On this joyous occasion, I'd like to reminisce about some of my favorite Hugh moments.

Hugh fakes his own funeral:

Hugh compares the NCAA investigation against him to being nailed on the cross like Jesus:

Couldn't have happened to a bigger douche.

Paid players more egregiously than any coach in recent memory to pull of a mediocre track record, just to get fired for this. Hahahaha

The phone call was to a 313 number about an escort in Florida and it lasted only a minute.  There was no attempt to redial, at least on the school's phone...which makes all the more weird.  Unless he was in Michigan or Florida at the time, I'm not sure why he makes that call on purpose.

To resign over this seems odd.

AD just said while investigating the phone call, they discovered "disturbing patterns" in the rest of the phone records. They said they won't say what, but probably more hookers.

He also said they would have fired Hugh with cause had he not resigned. Said it had nothing to do with sanctions, but his personal conduct.

If he replaces Tom Herman, and the really crazy fans at the school love him and he loves them, we'll be able to say that "Hugh Freeze loves Houston's nuts"
