Doesn't sound too promising.  But hey, despite everything I'd much rather be pushing for these top guys and not getting a few of them than not being in the running at all.

He is going to play college football somewhere next year so long as he's healthy.  I know I'm going out on a limb here, but I think my track record speaks for itself.

Let's all just go back to not watching the highlight tape and pretend we have no shot at him. Either be pleasantly surprised (this is an understatement), or mildly concerned that Alabama still rakes in the top recruits year in and year out and there is nothing we can do.

This isn't even a story.

He's still committed to 'Bama.

Either Tua is a complete idiot, or the yearning for a great running back has led us all into mania.

Not sure why he'd want to be a backup for two years, but they do put RBs in the NFL (if you can crack the two-deep).

As far as being the backup for 2 years, hmmm. Kid rushed for 5500 yards and 70 TDs the last two years. And he's the #1 ranked recruit in the country. Even if that backup role winds up being true, and there's some evidence that he might be more than just another Bama 5 star, does he really think that he's going to be sitting for 2 years? Only a factor in the recruitment if he believes their depth chart matters, and a kid that good is gonna be pretty confident about his skills. Dunno.  Obviously we have zero insight into his thinking.

For every Najee crootin update, there is an equal and opposite crootin update.

Tracked down for confirmation in the hallways of the Grand Hyatt hotel, Harris playfully said, “What flight? I don’t even know my flight.”

That is not an equal and opposite update.  Either Tua is full of shit for no reason or Najee has told him he plans on being at Bama recently enough for him to feel confident to say that.  I was just starting to believe but this is a nail in the coffin.  Everything for Michigan has been people close to the situation believing a certain way, this is something that would only be said by a kid who was told something.

I mean he's been commited to Bama all along, and that flight/roommate situation has likely been the plan all along. The article does contain a quote from Najee contradicting the main point, albeit it playfully according to the author.

My strategy has been not to get my hopes up and not to believe any rumors, for either side, until he's on campus. Whichever campus that may be, since that's how he said he'll make his final decision. I don't think this article moves the needle one way or the other, depends on how the author reports it.

posted this in another thread, but this Tua guy seems like a "great friend" if he is willing to just ruin Najee's experience like that. There is no way that he can't know that Najee has been keeping tight lipped on the situation. Not buying it yet.

This is where the board jumps the shark. People need to relax. Like ym statistics professor once taught me: there is no real "percentage" of something happening, because once it happens it's either a 0 or a 1. Najee Harris will make his decision, and then we'll know from the university he chooses. Not some other recruit. Remember how much Shane Morris trolled people during recruiting? These are kids - they like messing with us.

does not apply probabilities to events, it uses probabilities as measures of our certainty of events. Thus, it is perfectly reasonaby to say there's a fifty percent chance it's raining outside. Our course, it either is or it isn't, there's no chance there. The fifty percent is a reflection of my belief of whether or not it's raning.

I havent read ALL the posts but I would say the responses have been pretty reasonable. People are basically saying, "Well crap, good luck to the kid." No one is jumping  the shark. Plus I think your statistics professoris talking his way out of a job.

Don't they know what they are doing to the old men on this blog with these crazy taunts. How dare they mess with our emotions like this. Damn crootin!

Recent developments seem to indicate an Alabama commit will be attending ALABAMA!

This is both shocking and troubling to me - how could this have happened?  If only the Alabama commit had given some warning he was planning on attending Alabama.  Something...ANYTHING....so we could prepare ourselves for this horror.

It's surprises like this that really take the wind of out of recruiting sails that's for sure.

IDK. I think our fanbase is collectively delusional when it comes to this type of thing, especially after landing Peppers and Gary. I'm afraid the echo chamber here is setting everyone up to be disappointed. I hope I'm wrong, but clearly one the two programs is being mislead.

I spent a little time today reading Bama message boards, and I came away pretty surprised (aside from being surprised I actually did this thing). I expected RCMB level of discourse, and blind homerism, but there was surprisingly little of that. There is a fair amount of concern that they may lose him, but the "in the know" posters seem to be quietly confident.

Four more days, and we'll all know.

Sam has always and will always be a homer who tends to be more overconfident in recruits than is warranted.  We've missed on plenty of guys he was confident about.  He obviously has great information but is still a Michigan fan and that colors how he sees the situation. He was wrong on Hand, he was wrong on Wilson this year, etc.

According to Bama people he has been hanging out with Tua all week so far.  Maybe Tua is projecting more confidence than is real but Michigans sources have always been guys close who won't even go on record as saying they think he winds up at Michigan while they constantly hedge their bets that anything could happen and on the other side you have a kid that has never actually de-comitted still hanging out with the QB of the school he is comitted to and that guy saying he believes 100% on record that Harris is going to Bama.  That is a lot more solid than anything we have, even out of context.  Michigan's coaches may feel good, that doesn't mean they are right.

This post is bullshit. Sam was never wrong on Hand. In fact Sam was the only Michigan insider who refused to make a prediction on Hand because he didn't know where the kid was going. He said he thought his head was at UM but his heart was at Bama. Everyone at the time accused him of covering for the kid to build drama but as we found out that was not the case. As for WIlson, he never gave a gut feel but did say he thought UM because that's where his parents wanted him. He said commits at both UM and UGA had been told he was coming. Has also alluded to some funny business in that recruitment.

Sam is the best UM insider on the net and if he is saying something he's not just doing it for clicks or to throw shit against the wall. He has said he has a piece of info that is too sensitive to share that is making him feel confident with Najee ALONG WITH Um recruits confidence. Stop pretending like Tua spouting off to media some concrete evidence of anything. Just stop.

Two weeks ago, there were I believe 6 or 7 guys who announced their school of choice which Sam predicted Michigan would get. Sam's "confidence" got him wrong once, which honestly isn't that a pretty good percentage?

Sam loves Michigan, and yes he wants to believe every awesome recruit is going to go to Michigan just like you or I do. He uses his sources though, and guess what? Sometimes kids like Wilson tell the coaching staff they're coming (wouldn't you be confident if you're the coaching staff and a recruit you wanted told you he was coming even a few days before his announcement?) and then they change their mind last minute. Kids change their mind. That doesn't make Sam a "homer" predictor because he got it wrong, it just means he got it wrong. If Sam is a homer then we might as well listen to noone.

Sam and Steve are probably two of the most level-headed Insiders of any school that I've seen or heard of in the industry.  Remember last year when all of those Washington dudes thought they were getting half of our recruiting class before signing day? I do, because there were threads on it after these CB predictions went in and people started freaking out. That's what you call a Homer.  Sam waited until he had extremely concrete evidence saying that Najee is coming to Michigan - he could have said that much sooner when people on the staff were already telling him Najee was coming. He does that with all of his "predictions." He doesn't just guess Michigan to appease the Michigan mobs. Then again, who are Sam's largest connections going to be? Michigan people. Just like Alabama's Insiders will always have the deepest connections with Alabama people - doesn't mean either are homers for using those connections to base a prediction, especially if they're with extreme confidence. Sam is actually one who tries fervently to wait until he heards from the other side of things before he makes predictions, so I'd say he's more of an anti-homer in that aspect.

This sounds more like an angry response based off something positive on Alabama's side. And also, just because Sam says he's going to Michigan doesn't mean he's 100% confident of it - there is no "gut feeling" on Najee. The coaching staff thinks they're getting Najee (and believe with near certainty), Michigan recruits follow those same beliefs, so how can you say that makes Sam a homer? Sam could be wrong here, but what if he's right? Is he still a homer and just got lucky? Nope, he had good reason to believe it.

This is going to be a long weekend.
