05/31/2018 - 10:02am My opinion...

may not be a popular one, but there is zero proof that Tom Izzo enabled rape to occur. I don't like Tom Izzo for multiple reasons and don't even like that I am defending him, I'm just not about slandering someone without proof that they actually did something. Art Briles is a rape enabler, that has been documented and proven. Hate Tom Izzo all you want, I just think calling him a "rape enabler" without any proof is not necessary.

05/31/2018 - 9:57am I'm laughing....

because the OP said slightly better record than last year and then increased the win total by 1 game. I suppose that is slightly better. I'm going with a B1G Regular Season Championship, so whatever record that is.

05/29/2018 - 11:00am Alton....

It's ok to be wrong man. It's just MGoBlog, not life or death, just let it go.

05/18/2018 - 11:23am Well Done!

If I wasn't sick and at work, I would have laughed louder.

05/18/2018 - 8:57am Well.....

If anyone wants to play FortNite on Xbox instead of discussing or watching the Royal Wedding, my gamertag is GoBew1985. For being in my 30s, I'm not too bad at it.

05/10/2018 - 9:58am So....

just so I'm understanding this correctly. If someone had accused you of sexual assault or sexual harassment twenty years ago, and you went to court and the case was dismissed because your accuser refused to testify or participate, you would advocate for you losing your job? Just want to make sure we are all going to hold eachother equally accountable.

05/10/2018 - 9:13am So......

I'm trying to figure out what exactly the issue is here....? Are we upset that the Lions didn't find out about this sooner? I just don't understand the backlash against someone that wasn't even found guilty of something that happened 20 years ago? None of us have the authority or knowledge to know whether or not something did happen. Unless the accuser comes foward and decides to share her story, we have nothing to go off of other than Patricia not being found guilty. It's probably a bad look to not have talked about this ever, but I don't think a guy should get fired for not discussing something that he wasn't found guilty of.

05/04/2018 - 1:17pm Now this...

is the type of thing that the NCAA shouldn't care about, because THIS has nothing to do with sports. If you are confused by my comment, see my thread on Nassar for a discussion on whether or not the NCAA should care about Nassar abusing student athletes.

05/04/2018 - 11:16am Well....

now you are reaching and I will stop commenting after this reply. I don't understand the Nassar CPA statement, that just seems silly to me and not even close to the same thing. However if Nassar was giving kick backs and breaking tax law for people to keep his abuse hidden, then that's different. Well, one could point out that if the NCAA rules were followed and people gave a rat's behind in the first place about keeping athletes safe, some of these other victims could have been saved and this trash bag of a human being would have been behind bars years ago. That's why people might want to give a crap of about NCAA compliance. Your terrorist comment is equal parts absured and non-relevant to the discussion at hand. The NCAA getting involved with an athletic departments COVER UP of child abuse committed by a TEAM PHYSICIAN when COACHES and other ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT employees knew or "had ideas" of what was happening is not the same thing as an expired registration. You should feel bad for even saying that. I get where you are coming from, and I also don't understand how the NCAA doesn't get involved and levy a punishment when this is something directly tied to the athletic department? I just don't see a scenario where the NCAA should say, "this isn't really our problem guys, so no further consequence is required".

05/04/2018 - 11:01am I think your comment....

is for someone else, but just to be sure it's not meant for me, I will answer your question. I do not want the death penalty for MSU Gymnastics, I don't think that is fair to the current student athletes or the victims of Nassar. I also do not want other sports to be punished because of what happened (even though they might be in the process, this is the MSU athletic departments problem). What I do want is for something to be done to the entire athletic department that makes sure that nothing like this every happens again. Including but not limited to: anyone that is proven to be involved in a cover up of sex abuse should not be allowed to work for an NCAA member instituation again, in any capacity. A hefty fine would be great, and the university should have to prove it is taking steps to keep this from happening by being placed on probation until the NCAA feels this obligation has been fulfilled. Mandatory seminars for athletic and university staff on reporting suspected abuse, donations being made to child abuse organizations, etc. Something that punishes the University for allowing this to happen and also allows the opportunity for the University to learn and do better in the future. That's what I want.

05/04/2018 - 10:21am I disagree.....

Nassar was athletic faculty, after all, he was the team physician. I understand that he wasn't a coach, but anyone employed by the university that works in athletics with a title of "team physician" is athletic faculty. That to me is all the NCAA should need to get involved and they should be involved. Now, if he was just a random university employee, that would be a different story and I would agree with your above point. However, team physician for the MSU gymnastics team clearly makes him athletic faculty.

05/04/2018 - 9:28am I mean.....

I just don't know how this doesn't get used against MSU in civil litigation and also with the NCAA investigation. Their lawyer is literally saying "nothing happened here that violated NCAA rules or protocol". Everyone already knows what happened! How does pretending that your school, faculty and coaches did nothing wrong, make it better? MSU has already been downgraded for credit and is facing millions of dollars in lawsuits. Does nobody want to take responsibility over there or are we all just supposed to pretend that everybody at MSU "did their best" but Nassar was just "too sneaky and smart" for us to really know what was happening? BRUH.......

05/04/2018 - 9:16am Bruh.....

it's like I tell my students, you don't have to hit save 5 million times because your comment hasn't posted yet. Anyways, good luck with your project, always good to see people giving back. Also, the OP is bad and should feel bad.

05/04/2018 - 8:27am It's Friday.....

time to let the youth know where "Bye Felicia" actually came from.....

05/02/2018 - 9:26am I don't think....

there was a lot for Wagner to improve on, other than his defense (not fouling as much) and his rebounding (being in better position). His offensive output was relatively the same and his 3PT% was the same as it was last season. I think Wagner came back because he wanted to play for Michigan, not because he felt like he could play himself into the first round. Charles Matthews right now, IMO, is at best a free agent signing. However, if he could improve on these three things (ballhandling, free throw shooting, three point shooting), I think he could be a late first round pick. His defensive chops are his best selling point right now, he couples that with an improved offensive game next season at Michigan, I could see him being a fringe first rounder. Which would be a dramatic improvement over going undrafted this year.

05/02/2018 - 9:15am I appreciate the post...

and based on the statistics you have provided, this isn't helpful for Michigan. If the young man wants to leave and fine tune his game in the G-League, so be it, rumble young man rumble. I just don't see him leaving, given what he needs to work on to be successful at the next level. I mean, I don't even remember seeing a mock draft with his name on it. IMO, he can only improve his draft stock, thus securing him more money! It's not like this is a Miles Bridges situation, where a lottery pick decides to return and plays himself out of the top 10. Matthews, IMO, is at best a free agent signing post draft, he could play his way into guarenteed money if he comes back.

04/30/2018 - 9:55am BENJAMIN......

come say something in French. I'm dead. Also, DPJ clowning with the dance moves is hilarious.

04/29/2018 - 7:32pm Of all....

The things that get constantly rehashed on this blog, I’m ok with this being repeated 3 times every five years. I actually had no idea they were related and I’m on the blog every day.

04/22/2018 - 8:05pm It’s amazing...

how they find these kids. I live in PH and the competition around here isn’t that great. Kid looks like he can play though. Good for him! Always nice to have a local kid get an opportunity like this.

04/17/2018 - 9:04am ...........

04/13/2018 - 12:49pm This is just a debacle...

of epic proportion. I can't think of a bigger moron in this moment. The majority of us thought this was a stupid move based on Engler's past on dealing with sexual harrassment or assault, or not dealing with it. I'm now convinced that members of the blog could run MSU better than they can.

02/15/2018 - 8:06am A little fact checking for those interested.....

Not going to lie, I thought it was the Jimmy John's owner this whole time. Turns out it could actually be some random former police officer from New York.....at least it's interesting. Or is it somehow more fascinating that it could be McElwain?

02/14/2018 - 3:13pm Upvoted....

for generic message board comment used by lots of people on message boards. Unfortunately, most of the parties I attend are for my two year olds friends. But I do like to turn up with sugar free juice boxes, fruit snacks and cake. Sometimes, I catch a break and the party is hosted at a bowling alley or restaurant with adult bevs.

02/14/2018 - 2:45pm Let me help you...

You twice made reference to his come back in a negative light in your OP. Will he be able to resist temptation in Austin? How long do you think it lasts? Most who read those statements would see those as negative. Statements like, Austin will be a good test of commitment to his come back. Or a question like, where do you see this ending up for Johnny Football? These are not negative in connotation. So while you may not be directly stating "I hope he fails", it is going to read that way to most people. This is a message board, it can be difficult to communicate things using only words. Also, since you haven't stated your opinion, if your post reads negative, I have to believe that you indeed think he fails and/or are not wishing him well. In other news my day is fine, just because someone is confused or questions you on the internet doesn't mean their day isn't going well or that their feelings are hurt, or that they are offended. My day was looking up when I woke up this morning, have yourself a Coke and a smile.

02/14/2018 - 1:42pm Kind of confused OP....

are you posting this to mock him for trying to better himself? It seems like you are wanting him to fail without actually stating it. Such as, by asking for bets on how long this "come back" will last. If the guy is trying to make amends, get his life together, and work towards being successful, I think people hating on that are even bigger jerks than he was. I'm not trying to change anybody's mind, some people will only see him as an entitled brat. It will never be cool to me for anyone to want someone else to fail in their recovery. Neg away if you must.

02/14/2018 - 12:50pm mGrow....

well played sir. I chuckled a bit at my desk!

02/14/2018 - 12:11pm He Was A Student...

Phelps did enroll and take some classes but never finished his degree, according to the internetz. He was unable to swim for Michigan as he was already endorsed by Speedo, so he trained and was an associate coach.

02/14/2018 - 8:22am @Perkis

This times 1000%. This doesn't change the outcome of the games that were played, that team went 12-0, regardless of what was happening off the field. I've never understood the whole concept of vacating wins either. It's like that small minority of Michigan fans who think we should get to hang a banner because Louisville vacated their wins and National Championship. That banner wasn't earned, regardless of the other stuff, Michigan didn't win that game.

02/14/2018 - 8:13am I'm assuming....

that Korea was a courtesy bid given they are the host country? Is that a thing? Doesn't seem like a country that would make the Olympics in ice hockey without it.

02/12/2018 - 7:57pm A pleasure....

As always Don. I don’t participate in the drinking threads.

02/12/2018 - 1:42pm I don't....

understand what the obsession is with this guy and turnovers!? He is literally the best player on his team and it's not even close. I don't even think the turnovers tarnish his ability to win National POY either. Vasquez and Lee won Conference Player of the Year awards in their tenures at their respective universities. Wall is an NBA All-Star. McKnight is sitting out this year, but is eligible to play two more years at Seton Hall and I'm guessing was the best player on Sacred Heart while he was there. Galloway is done, but he did play ball at USC and Kentucky before playing at Texas Southern, my guess was that he was the best player on that team as well. I guess I'm struggling to understand why this was posted if there wasn't going to be any added discussion to why this matters? Also, the title is super click-bait.

02/12/2018 - 12:13pm I agree....

which is why I don't think donations will drop much further.

02/12/2018 - 9:46am God Speed OP.................

02/12/2018 - 9:44am I came to this thread.....

not sure of what to expect. I leave this thread impessed and also still unsure of what to expect.

02/12/2018 - 9:40am Hate to be the bearer......

of bad news and I may get negged for this unpopular take, but so be it. I don't think donations will drop that much more, I hope they do because I think they should, but I am also a realist. I don't think enough MSU alums that donate A LARGE AMOUNT, care enough about what happened to stop giving money or because their donation isn't to athletics or the physical therapy program Nassar was a part of. Ultimately, these donations could and would affect scholarship programs, research and development programs in other areas that had nothing to do with the scandal. It makes sense to me if donations to the Athletic Department or PT graduate programs would drop as they were the biggest culprit in this whole scandal. I just don't see someone dropping their Vet Program donation because of the sex abuse scandal in a completey different part of the University. Again, I would be all for donations continuing to drop, I just don't see it happening because I think most people who donate think "I'm supporting this department that has nothing to do with Nassar". Sick as this whole thing is, I think alums and fans care more about their football seats and privleges of their donations, than they do victims of sex abuse.

02/07/2018 - 12:05pm ........

02/06/2018 - 12:17pm Wut.....?

Matt McQuaid is the kid I keep hearing about, but he never actually does anything. I'm no college scout, but Nunez's game looks better than McQuaid's right now. If Nunez is nothing more than a 6th in his career for Michigan, then I guess I see the comparison.

02/05/2018 - 10:20am ESPN.....celebration damage fail

Not important enough for its own thread. But did anyone see the ESPN coverage of the celebration “damage”. The best they got were two broken store front windows and I kid you not, a turned over potters plant. They did a legit close up on the turned over plant with the dirt spilled onto the sidewalk. Not sure if they were mocking themselves because they hoped for worse. But it is ESPN so I think they were trying to find anything to report.

01/29/2018 - 2:51pm Not very different...

I just don't agree with the whole "there are more cases" so this is worse argument. It either is, or it isn't. That argument holds no water with me. All three universities engaged in an active cover up of sexual assault and sexual abuse, that is fact. I also think the notion of "MeToo" causing this to be a bigger deal (while probably true) is BS. Laws were broke or not broke, that seems pretty black and white to me. It's not like anyone involved was "stealing bread because their family was starving". Brand popularity is a crap argument too, I don't care if it is USC or Duquesne. Profits shouldn't trump the law or dictate who gets dropped from sponsorship and who doesn't. I get it, that's how society works, but to me, that's not simple. That's a bunch of political BS and why our society is the way it is. Which is why Nike won't drop MSU because if they drop MSU, IMO, it ties their hands in being forced to drop the other three. Which you know they aren't going to do.

01/29/2018 - 12:17pm I see.....

Dave Brandon CEO of Toys R' Us wasn't listed......

*DUCKS*

01/29/2018 - 12:15pm Joy....

might be a strong word. But any member of that University, student manager to President, that didn't do their job or stayed willfully "ignorant" or attempted to cover-up, intimidate, not fully investigate, etc. Should lose their job, point blank, period.

It is unfortunate that some good people are going to get caught in the crossfire, and for that, I feel empathy for those that did nothing wrong who may lose their jobs. I will say, that I do feel satisfaction in those wrong-doers being punished. So I completely disagree with your "none of this is good", because some of this IS GOOD and well deserved.

01/29/2018 - 12:08pm I mean.....

I can't imagine Nike dropping them at all, sad as that sounds. Nike is still sponsoring PSU, nothing that happened there affected that relationship. If this was sarcasm and I missed it, the joke is on me. I just don't see how you can put a price on the number of victims with regard to your sponsorship. Guess we will see if that is what Nike decides to do. Because they would essentially be saying, abusing 30 boys is different than abusing 200 girls. While the numbers are dramatically different, the crime is still the same and if they didn't drop PSU, I don't see how they could MSU. Nike still sponsors Baylor too, FWIW.

01/29/2018 - 11:50am Man....

I think Pizza House is delcious, and well worth the price. Also, its pretty common place for restaurants to have expensive alcohol. That's how they make the majority of their money in the restaurant business. I would also imagine you would be in the minority of people who think their pizza is "slightly above average". Their turkey reuben and steak fries, chili cheese steak fries, and seafood pizza got me through Junior and Senior year. Plus they deliver until 4am!

01/29/2018 - 10:45am You May.....

get bombed on this because a lot of MGoBloggers don't like the "best place to eat in AA" threads at anytime. That being said, I always enjoyed Real Seafood Company or Pallio for dinner. If those are both still around, been a long time since I have been back!
