IU fires Kevin Wilson

Submitted by LS And Play on

IU fires Kevin Wilson. Stunning. Reports coming in that it may have to do with off-the-field stuff, because he signed a six-year extension less than a year ago.

EDIT: Looks like Kevin Wilson is competent Tim Beckman:

Former Indiana player told ESPN on Thursday that he & at least 5 other IU players interviewed about Wilson's treatment of players

I like the juxtaposition of these comments. The PSU guy says "has to be something more than wins and losses," and the response is "Could be worse though...' F*ck Penn State.

I would think it would have to be something more than just wins and losses. Back to back bowls for them is unusual.

This is like the chick that is like a 5... Has a husband that busts his ass and makes the best living she's ever had a privilege of, her family loves the guy... Then she wakes up and thinks she can do better. Wow!

#CHAOSTEAM applies to the AD as well apparently.

Agree with the others - HAS to be something ugly, otherwise makes zero sense. Nobody Indiana can realistically get is going to do better for them any time soon.

The rumor flying as to why Gary Anderson left Wisky was he wasn't happy that Wisky wouldn't bend their admission standards for athletes.  This isn't to imply that admission standards for athletes were the same as those for a regular student but that an athlete might not have been able to get into Wisky but would be able to get into a different school.

I have no idea what the clashes were with IU and Wilson.

That's a stunner. It would have to be for something that didn't happen on the football field because Indiana was starting to become a team that you had some trepidation about playing even if you figured you could still win, which for them is progress. I would be intrigued to hear the reason they did this because....yikes.

He could keep the OC and just focus on shoring up Indy's defense, which wasn't horrid like usual. The fanbase won't have big expectations and Les could continue its bowl streak. There's some talent in Indiana and The Mad Hatter might be able to persuade some to stay home... maybe with a grass smoothie. One major drawback is UI is in the toughest division in college football.
