As I recall, may have also…

As I recall, may have also been one who didn’t care for working for Dave Brandon, although the KBA hire seemed to be one of the few DB success stories.

Call should be made to Billy…

Call should be made to Billy Donovan, given state of the Bulls. But that likely would go nowhere. Living in Washington, can testify that Kyle Smith has done a remarkable job at WSU, which is an incredibly difficult place to win.

Looking at it, the horse…

Looking at it, the horse head is better, if only because it’s not just a stylized letter like the other MAC schools

As an Albion grad, yeah, it gives me no pleasure that it's so awesome

Has there been anything on…

Has there been anything on potentially getting pickups from ULL? I would have thought that hiring their DC, to go along with the needs of the team, might be attractive for a reasonably good Sun Belt team.

As a former employee of a…

As a former employee of a state bar association, you could absolutely file a complaint. Whether or not it goes anywhere beyond that likely depends on the reasons for the issues. If they're just bad at the job, there's really not anything actionable, but if there's serious issues, like non attorneys performing the work, that's something else. If there's issues the new attorney identified, I would obviously include that. You could also call the state bar and describe your situation and se if there's anything actionable.

I wonder if this might not…

I wonder if this might not be the Tosh Lupoi job. We all know, of course, that Brain Hartline should go for this too

Could it also just be he was there nine years and things just built up over time?

It seems weird to think he doesn't have that now

Cullen is still coaching, for one.

If people are so worried…

If people are so worried about Clinkscale calling plays, you could do worse than a one year apprenticeship that is essentially pitched as such

What a weird thing to say

What a weird thing to say

Guy has had the position…

Guy has had the position group that has made the biggest change for the defensive system. He's been the only coach on staff for all three of those years. Why do you think he'd be Peter principled?

Why do you need to call play…

Why do you need to call play to be a head coach, especially in an era where the CEO coach is much more in fashion? What does a Mike Hart team look like? Probably something resembling this Michigan team and the LEO Indiana teams. He wasn't just a position coach, but an assistant head coach as well. And you could make the same argument about this year's line being a step back from the previous two?

What’s the evidence for your…

What’s the evidence for your last statement? His group played as much of a role in the offense as Moore’s, his former school tanked when he left, and he’s recruited well.

It may depend on what Mike…

It may depend on what Mike Hart wants. Does he want to end up the HC at Michigan? It may be necessary to leave for that to happen. Does he want just any P5 gig? Then stay in the interim. But, from one perspective, he's gone from people's choice to succeed Harbaugh if he'd taken the Vikings job (potentially hastening the departure of a Broyles award winning coordinator in the process) to being supplanted as heir from within the staff, albeit understandably. Feelings might have been hurt.

In fairness, we lost Mattison to rivals twice

Sherrone might want to watch…

Sherrone might want to watch his back if he went that route.

They had something going…

They had something going when O'Brien was there, essentially acting like B1G program grabbing and developing linemen from Ohio and playing a pretty pro-style offense. Then they made one of the worst firings (firing Jeff Jagodzinski for interviewing for the open Jets job) in recent memory and quickly became irrelevant.

Maybe the guy who has had to…

Maybe the guy who has had to do the heavy lifting of coaching the back end of that defense the last three years.

Part of what happened to…

Part of what happened to Shaw is the limitations that come with Stanford, in terms of the admissions restrictions and transfer limitations that put Michigan's to shame. Another is that without a transcendent running back/OL misses, they just sort of dropped off. Luck was downgraded to Kevin Hogan, who was downgraded to KJ Costello, and CMC went to Bryce Love (a fine college back) to no one of consequence. They also weren't getting two five star OLs per class and actually doing something with them.

A play that didn't happen,…

A play that didn't happen, Bama getting the illegal substitution penalty on their final regulation drive, pushing it to 1st and 15, getting them behind the sticks. They'd been doing just enough to move the ball up til then, and then suddenly the play calling had to change, obviously leading to the last sack and forcing the long FG. They could have put us away.

Clinkscale has been here for…

Clinkscale has been here for both McDonald and Minter. The idea he wouldn't be able to pull it off, especially since his unit had to make the biggest shift in the way they played, seems strange.

I used to think the same way…

I used to think the same way… then I lived there for seven+ years. It’s actually got a lot going for it as a local, once you get past the slots and video poker concessions in every grocery store and gas station. I do feel this way about Phoenix.

Seemingly would mean that…

Seemingly would mean that the league couldn’t exact Stalions/Burgergate punishments as they did to Tressel, given what Pierce did at ASU

Thank you Alex. Some was…

Thank you Alex. Some was made earlier in the week about the major differences in the way the two teams are penalized, do you think that plays a role as well? Also, is it possible we see the return of the heavy formation with Hinton to force them to go to their 5-2?

Genuinely think the specific…

Genuinely think the specific TCU experience will help with this game so much. They got a lot of rat poison, to use the Saban parlance, ahead of last year’s game? And I’d hope they’d take the lessons about adjustments and play calling to heart.

It would probably depend on…

It would probably depend on game state and situation. With a lead, I'd expect it to be Tuttle, just make the open plays on PA and run the clock out. If they're behind, or it's early, then Orji as the wild card.

The ASU game was the week…

The ASU game was the week after the first Oregon game. It was also several games ago and probably should be discounted beyond simply being a data point

Michael Penix is a different…

Michael Penix is a different level than Kyle McCord.

They make plays when it…

They make plays when it counts. That was the key in both Oregon games. It was key yesterday, when they were able to turn Texas over in the second half. Even during their swoon after the first Oregon game, the defense made the play that turned around the ASU game. The numbers aren't good, obviously, but there's a reason, despite being the worst unit int he playoff by the numbers, that UW is here. After the Fiesta Bowl, I can't imagine the staff will just assume they'll be able to control the game offensively, they're going to need to score.

I’d advise that many are…

I’d advise that many are likely figuring they’ll save their money for what is essentially a one hour flight or a day’s drive

In hindsight, Bill Martin…

In hindsight, Bill Martin should have considered him in 07, but since we don’t have time travel, that’s as close as we’ll get

The other thing I'll say,…

The other thing I'll say, and this is probably why it's best they're playing Alabama, is to project respect for the opponent, which they absolutely have not done enough of the last two years. From the Run the Damn Ball shirts against UGA to last year's obvious disdain for TCU, they've been very chesty and it's bitten them (obviously moreso in 21 than last year). All the underdog talk also helps this

Two were in one game, in a…

Two were in one game, in a loss, so that was the focus. Also, reading between the lines, I feel like a lot of the SF beat didn't understand the desire to move on from Robbie Gould, and especially why they would want to use a relatively high pick on any kicker. But they also seemed to belabor the point a bit too much.

I will be interested to see if Singelton stays. The PSU beat seemed pretty down on the amount of work he was getting, even if he's probably the bigger explosive threat.

Did it work out for the Stoopses? Once Mike got fired at Arizona, Bob pushed Brent Venables out to hire him as DC. Then Riley let Mike go, while Venables became  top 3 DC in the sport. There just is something different about a coordinator title, especially for sons, when things go wrong fans get especially angry

I honestly can't imagine,…

I honestly can't imagine, given the precedent of the Bowdens, Kiffins (in reverse), Paternos, and now Ferentzes, that Jay would probably ever get a coordinator job here.

James would actually be a really good hire, currently at Tulane after being a DC at Hope.
